  1. One does not need a smartphone to read a QR code...there are a number of online options where all you need to do is upload the pic or paste in the web address of the pic...
  2. Are you one of those kids that has a whole bunch of trophies for just showing up? You believe that the kid who got last place should get the same size trophy as the kid who got first place? You think competition is bad for your self esteem? You don't think first place should be recognized because it makes the last place person feel bad? THATS WHY! If you still don't get it, maybe we should call off the Olympics and just send all of them home with gold medals. I never knew I was in a professional sport...thanks for showing me the light!!! Now...time to get serious and go for the number one spot in the world!!!
  3. Then perhaps the lesson is that the world is a very unfair place and that needs to not take away from their own joy and sense of accomplishment. There are a lot of unfair people in the world and we can't change them. Personally, I think this is an incredibly important lesson. Show them how to deal with unfair people with your head up and being unconcerned with what others do. Bolding is my add...but I think that is the part keeping you from moving on...equating Find Count with some sort of score...
  4. I think the point of the OP was that Bad Coords in this case are done on purpose and the Cache Owner has admitted that it is how he/she increases the difficulty. That is something that should not be tolerated. Several have pointed out that Accurate Coords are expected. Equipment is one thing...but doing it on purpose is another. Share your coords in your log...send an email to the reviewer...either way...the Cache Owner will start to get the point.
  5. I don't do that...If I have a stamp I will stamp it...otherwise I will leave it alone.
  6. Well...the general feelings...not cool. As for policy...not cool either. Dirtbagging...hmmm...reminds me of sandbagging in bowling lol...
  7. +1 I gave the form a try as well...for those new to placement...it is nice...but I like the blank, all in one page form...hopefully they allow both options to happen...
  8. It would not bother me...I have come across a number of them just out in the woods hiking...
  9. Permethrin works well...you can either get the "spray on" version...or the "mix and let your cloths soak" version. I prefer the soak version...seems to last longer. I also use 40% Deet items where I can find them...I have had pretty good luck that way...
  10. That is similar to what I was going to write... Two events on the same day isn't a problem, but you will need to consider the distance or time to the other event. Generally, having two event in roughly the same location or time meant for roughly the same group of people won't get published...but exceptions can be bad if the reason(s) validate it...but you would need to check with your local reviewer about it.
  11. It's possible that your reviewer processed all the caches he or she had in their queue, then shut down their computer for the weekend so they could do whatever they had planned in their personal life. They may very well have not seen your note yet. It's nothing personal; it's just that they may have not opened up the review queue since then. If this happened on the 15th, it's only been two days, so there's no need to hit the panic button yet. If Thursday comes around and there's been no action, then there might be something wrong, but I highly doubt that a "personal issue" is what it is. I see nothing personal there...It may also help to know that there is an order for which caches "lay claim" to an area. It sound like the forest service has been working on something here...the delay in getting back to you is that he/she may be waiting to hear from the forest service as well...may even be saying something to them along the lines of "Hey, could you all confirm if you are doing this or not...we have another cacher that would love to hide something here as well."The reviewer also states "it would be an idea to avoid this area for a week or so..." I would take this as a situation in which I am going to most likely have to wait longer than the 72 hours...Patience...it takes a little patience...the forest service has something in the works and it is common practice (at least in my experience) that reviewers give those working on a cache area a week or two to get things in order especially if they have shown to the reviewer they are actively working on it... ...

  13. seems heavy handed to me. Some puzzles are meant to be not found often. Wonder what guideline they can base that decision on. I bet there is more to that then meets the eye...
  14. Nope...you moved it once...now wait...he/she will get back to you as soon as possible. As others said...and the reviewer pointed out...and you acknowledge...there is something else going on in that general area...
  15. Just because you call it your humble opinion...does not make it so... The reviewer asked for patience...avoid the area for a week or so...no agenda...no hidden meaning...just simply wait...I have and I would in this case...not a big deal...world is not going to end because your cache hasn't been published yet...
  16. Yep...archive and create new listing...
  17. I think the reviewer did address this right away with the following comment... "but it would be an idea to avoid this area for a week or so"
  18. Keep in mind...they are also volunteers with personal lives...who knows...something may have come up that prevents him/her from getting back to you...again...a little patience is all that is being asked.

  20. Dark Arts must have been used to find this old thread  PS...just an attempt at a joke...nothing personal meant by it...
  21. Hide a cache...create page...then submit...seems fine to me!!! Create page...hide cache...then submit...seems fine to me!!! Create page...submit...then hide cache...does not seem fine to me. Location is a part of the review...how are reviewers to review a location of a cache when the location has not been determined when the page is submitted...to borrow a phrase...seems very counter-intuitive to me...
  22. The flash mob events I've attended have involved plenty of meeting and chatting. Some occurs shortly before the event, as people arrive and prepare to descend upon GZ at the appointed time. Some even occurs during the 15 minutes the event officially runs. A lot occurs afterwards, as people hang out in the park visiting, or choose a nearby restaurant and head off towards it. I have hosted plenty of events that were advertised as limited...but they hardly ever end in the amount of time listed. I host a monthly 15 minute event of the lunch hour (12:15 - 12:30) and have never really left the area until about 1:30/2:00...I even arrive at about 11:30 and people are usually there waiting... I had one last about 15 minutes...February...cold...high wind...I arrived at 11:30 to setup...saw people in their vehicles (chuckled to myself)...all stepped out at 12:15 and back to vehicles at 12:30...not because it was "time"...I guess a large number of them decided not to place quarters in parking meters and saw the parking cops arrive...I laughed then too and calmly walked to my vehicle...
  23. I would bet you found some relatively new caches recently...their location (for stats calculations) are not always known right away...
  24. Disagree 100%. Sounds a bit heavy handed and aggressive to me. UNLESS, it were a high star cache and the throw down was freely accessible with no effort. Then I'd agree. But on a lamo cache with less than a couple of stars overall? Who gives a rip. I would leave the log as well...it isn't their fault I didn't get my butt out there sooner to go take care of my cache.
