  1. Thanks for all of the helpful information. I am excited to get started on these!
  2. As I try to get "smilies" that are close to where I live, I am starting to run out of choices. There are several puzzles that are close by. It appears that I need to decrypt a code to get the answer to the puzzle. I have NO CLUE how to even begin solving this process. Is there a tutorial I can check out, or does anyone happen to have some advice? Thank you, Kristi
  3. So, I am still new to geocaching, but I am loving it!! Yesterday we went on a little geocaching spree, and we found 8 out of the 10 caches we were looking for. Of the two that we were not able to find, I do believe one is no longer there, as the last two people were not able to find it either, and there was a tree that had recently been cut down. The other cache I could not find, was a bit of a puzzle. I think we were close, but we just could not figure it out. I contacted to CO to ask for more information. Is this appropriate to do? I don't want to bother other people, but I am so curious. I probably should have asked on this forum before I contacted them! I really learn a lot from reading these forums and appreciate the more experienced geocachers taking time to explain this cool hobby! (Is it a hobby or a sport?) Kristi
  4. Is there a similar tutorial for the android app? While I figured out this feature, I feel there are so many things I have not figured out with it yet! Thank you.
  5. I find that by using the "map" feature I am able to find most caches that are located in a public place. (Please note that I have only found 8 caches, so again, not much experience . ) However, when I try to find a cache that is located in a park, off of a path, I try to switch to a more precise measurement, like the compass. Here is my real question that I was almost ashamed to ask earlier: When using the compass feature, doI need to be walking in the direction of the arrow as it moves around?
  6. I am a newbie to Geocaching. I use the Geocaching app on my Droid, and am having problems trying to figure out how to use the compass and radar navigation options when I get very close to a cache. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
