  1. I am one of the Odd Balls that uses a Lowrance iFinder GPS and a Mac. I recently discovered an app called Load My Tracks from ClueTrust. It converts Lowrance .USR files into .GPX and .KML formats. It does not convert .LOC files into .USR format, However. The last time I checked GPSBabel for Mac only converted waypoints but not tracks from .USR files. I am not affiliated with Lowrance or ClueTrust. I am just happy to have my stuff working together and I want to pass it along to other Mac/iFinder users. I can't be the only one...can I?
  2. I made the switch to a Mac about nine months ago. I have had the same trouble with Virtual PC and ExpertGPS. I have e-mailed the developer several times with this question and (insert politaclly correct pronoun for unknown sex here) never responds. This is frustrating...I have been using this program for several years. Is there any equilalent on the mac?
  3. With all due respect to the cache owner. The cache does not stink. It is well hidden, in a good container and the contents are in good condition. Thank you all for the advice. I will officially forget about it and just keep on caching.
  4. I was out hiking while on a business trip. I carry my GPS along loaded with waypoints for the area at times like these in case there is a cache nearby. I noticed that "GCHBNB - Rio De Flag" was near where I was walking so I left the trail to search for it. I had no trade items so I just signed the log book. When i went to log the cache i saw a note from the cache owner in BIG BOLD RED CAPITAL letters warning me not to be specific about the location of the entrance to the cache area or my log would be deleted. So I left a vague log entry on the web site. The cache owner has since contacted me threatening to delete my log because my log entry is too vague and he does not believe that I found the cache. I have e-mailed him asking him to check the log book, but he refuses unless I give him a detailed description of the cache! I think this guy is taking himself and this game (it is just a game, right!?) WAY too seriously. I just don't like being called a liar and/or cheater when I have done neither. My log entry is in the log book in the cache. I don't thing my log should be deleted unless the cache owner checks that and then disagrees that I have found the cache. I think the object of this is to have fun. Let's keep the anger out of it! Thanks, Team RamJetta Prescott, AZ
  5. I found this in a car wash waiting room for about 5 bucks. It is supposed to be a drink holder. It holds my GPSr right where I can see it and still get great reception. It is made by a company called Napolex. (Web SIte)
  6. This is true. The iFinder uses a passive antenna.
  7. I knoe that iFinders are not popular around here but I have had one now for about 6 months. They feature colored "Face offs" that you can buy for $15.00 to change the color of the unit. I thought "big deal!". But what they don't teel you is that it includes the clear plastic screen covering. So for 15 bucks you get a brand new screen!
  8. I learned to drive in a '74 convertable bug...It is long since dead. We have a 1999 Jetta TDI (For caching near the road) and a 2000 Cummins-Powered Dodge RAM (for when the caching gets tough!).
  9. A local cache that we previously logged as found was plundered and later replaced by the owner in a different location. The cache has a new name but the same "GC0000" number as the original. Can we cet credit for finding this cache again in it's new location?
  10. If you use an ammo box be sure to remove the lid and latching mechanism! Children and small animals have been known to get trapped inside and suffocate!
  11. I was on the verge of purchasing an eMap when I read about the iFinder. Can anybody answer some questions about the IFinder from personal experience? 1) Does the iFinder "Simplify" the saved track logs like the eMap does? The saved track logs from the eMap are worthless. 2) Can waypoints and track logs be imported to ExpertGPS via the MMC? Can it be done using the serial cable? The iFinder appears to be a much better Geocaching unit because it has the mapping features as well as the "compass" screen and the other data screens that Garmin does not include in the eMap. Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions.
  12. Everybody should purchase ExpertGPS just for the service! I have never had a software company respond so quickly to a problem, and on a holiday weekend no less . They contacted me both by e-mail and on this forum. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

  14. I have been evaluating ExpertGPS for a few days. Today I registered it. I got the Confirmation e-mail and followed the instructions. The program says registration was successful. I then close the program as instructed but when I start it again it still says it is a demo. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for your assistance.
