  1. Choo Choo boy - sure. Belleville is good. Put "The Penman" down as a yes as well. I'll tell him in time. :-)
  2. Forgot to post - we got the binos, too. I just got a letter asking for our pictures as well. It was a very pleasent trip, though in the winter, I would stick to the main roads.
  3. For the admin folk - it's my intention to re-stock this cache... However it's been archived, so it does not show on the search for caches pages. How do I "unarchive" it - I would rather it simply be disabled for now. Thanks!
  4. Some wanker stole my cache, in Kingston Ontario (GCE7F6 - A Rock In The Woods). Has this been happening a lot?
  5. Magellin 315... routinely shows "0" error when I find a chache (check out A Rock In The Woods for a picture). Sure I would love a Colour unit, with extra memory, but I also SCUBA, and collect model trains... my wife runs my allowance, so there is just no way, until someone invents a holiday where people give each other gifts... Oh, I've heard wild tales of such a thing, but she says they are just rumours. Seriously - I love my 315 and never have had a problem. Definitly NOT junk.
  6. In Kingston it was amazing... but no pics. I was at a military dinner in town. I can't imagine what it would have been here in the country (Verona, Ontario) We could see all coulors - reds, blues yellows and greens.
  7. Seems to me, if you don't like the rules here, you can always go and start your own Cache Hunting site, with your own rules. I'm not being snarky - there is nowt to stop anyone from putting a link in a post here to "vacaching" or something along those lines. But if you want it posted under this site, you should follow this sites rules - however frustrating they may appear to you. I have to go go out tomorrow after work to double check mine (a rock in the woods), as it's had its first "not found" and it's pretty easy... couldn't do that if it were far away, so the rule makes sense to me. On the other hand... a specific "vacation run cache system" might be cool too. But on another site. My two cents - keep the change :-)

  9. A Friend & I did this last wknd. Missed the bit about them only open during the week :-( I've called and the nice lady says she'll wait until I get there tomorrow afternoon, to give me the binos. Thanks for the info!
  10. Is there a way to unencrypt a log on my cache, after I accidentally “permanently encrypted” it? If the answer is “No, dum-dum, that’s what ‘permanent’ means”, then I suppose the question becomes “how many beer do I owe the chap whose log entry I encrypted”? If the answer is “yes, but it’s up to the Admin Gods”… well, I’m doing the “I’m Sorry Dance”. The cache is “A Rock in the Woods” - GCE7F6. Cheers, all.
  11. You can tell how cool some one is, by just how stupid they are willing to act... I once went to work (Royal Military College) dressed as Spaceman Spiff, but that was Halloween. Zartimus, you are the coolest. Who needs dates, anyway? :-)
  12. This was a long thread somewhere else on the site (under Canada, I think), but I'm not clever enough to find it and link :-( The long and short was many folk have good experiences (me inlc - the stewardesses thought it was soooooo cool), but Alaska Air (for one) does not allow them at all. If your going to use it, call and ask the airline... then show the steward/stewardess and they might want to show the pilot (This is VERY inmportant - in this day and age, DONT try to be discreet, as discreet = secretive = dangerous = lots of guys with badges and guns.) Take along a small atlas, to mark your positions, alt & speed. Watch your speedometer as you take off... wheeeeeeeeeee! Enjoy
  13. Well, I can't comment as to that specifically, as I've used my at least once a week since I got it 3 years ago. The only similar situation I've experienced was with a military GPS - it refused to initilize, until we left it alone for a afternoon, turned on and getting signal. POC. :-)
  14. I'll say it's good. I have one, and I've thought about upgrading, but as neat as the newer units are, they just aren't THAT much better. You can buy a NEW M315 at Canadian Tire for $125.00 (about $80.00 US). I swear, if I make one more post about how much I love my M315, I'll have to start a new thread... or a web page... or an addicts support group.
  15. If you can still find one, that is. In Canada, they go for $125.00. About $80.00 in US money. I'm not sure any other decent unit can beat it... and honestly, I would not change my unit for any other out there.
  16. The 315 switches from KM to M when you are under 1 KM away. I imagine it does the same thing if you are using miles and cubits as well.
  17. OOOOOOOO - you must work for CNN ya hoser! We're far more than the big blank spot on the weather map, from which winter comes! If you were within reach, I'd give you such a frown as you'd never forget! Ya big winky-stick. :-)
  18. If you can find one, get it quick. Great intro unit... so great I just dumped the idea of upgrading to a Magellan ColorTrak. At Canadian Tire, they go for well under $200.00 Canadian - about $125.00 if memory serves. In US money, that's about a Big Mac, and Fries :-)
  19. Librac & Awang, if you still need help with your M315, email me (click on my name, above and to the right - THE LEFT (nuts... that inspires confidence, doesn't it?), and I'll talk you through anything. I've had a 315 for 4 years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Once you get the hang of it, it's a great unit... But yeah - the manual was written by Homer Simpson

  21. WARNING: What ever you try, remember, like most e-devices, GPSr's run on smoke - if you plug it in and the smoke leaks out, it wont work anymore. Found out the hard way.
  22. OK D,T & A it's a race and since we both have that nasty ice stuff to contend with... we have a little time to plan!!!! Hey, actually mine is a multi with the final clues at depth and the cache on the surface a short distance from the underwater locale... near your area too! DD "Either that wallpaper goes or I do!" Excellent - if you need dive buddies when you're in town let me know - I've got a bunch of folk who geocache (or soon will be), and dive. As to the race... hope you enjoy coming in second, l ser! Cheers
  23. I change what's on my Magellen 315 (I know I know, but I'm hoping for a Colortrack for my birthday) by downloading all to EZGPS, erasing all on the GPS, then deleting sorting etc etc etc on EZGPS and only uploading what I want...
  24. Yup - keep the naughty stuff to the naughty sites. This is familiy freindly hobby (for me and mine). If my wife and I want to go doing naughty things with my GPS, I'll type "naughty GPS" into google and we'll see where that goes ("ooooo wear your Tilley hat tonight, you big naughty cacher, you"!), but for this site - I gave the address to my 8 year old nephew. Not to mention I log on during lunch, from a Canadian Military computer... the last thing I want is my avatar on CBC NewsWorld
