  1. Nice that you came out and apologized to the group, but I still don't see anything apologizing to atmouse. And considering that you DID, in fact, directly insult her, I think a direct apology is still in order.
  2. Yes, I've found the same problem. I can't specifically exclude more than one thing, for example, or it won't return anything. If I want to exclude caches that have any but not necessarily ALL of the following attributes set: "NO DOGS ALLOWED" "NO PARKING" charge a fee, I have to run three PQs. And I still have no guarantee that the "no dogs" ones won't have some fee-chargers. Set all 3...well, there's mighty few where I'm looking. Zero, in fact.
  3. Please understand, I'm not trying to pick on you. It's a nice idea for commemoration. I get that. I agree with the concept, frankly. I'm just saying that when you ask people to spend THEIR money on something, they want to know what it's for. If it's a greater-than-usual price for something, they're going to ask more questions. If it's charging money to commemorate fallen / missing soldiers, because they're so near and dear to peoples' hearts, people are going to want to know WHERE that money is going. Other people didn't get asked where the money was going for their coins, because their coins weren't POW / MIA coins. YOURS are, so you did. And SoCal, I do understand - you want to help defend your friend. I get that too. But stating or implying that the rest of us just aren't patriotic if we don't buy her coins or support her unquestioningly really isn't a good way to go about it. I thought the coins were a cool idea when I saw them, and I'm a complete sucker for soldier-commemoration stuff. But when I'm spending MY money on something, I want to know how that money's being spent. Not everyone who asks questions about your intent is malicious. Not everyone who asks questions about your intent is out to get you. I, personally, know at least a few of the people who asked questions in this thread. I know by reputation several more. I can tell you that they had no malice intent. They were not trying to be mean, nasty, or "slam" anyone. They're very nice, gracious, patient, PATRIOTIC people, who would've probably ponied up for several tags / coins / whatever they are, had a simple post saying "I'm having these made as I can afford a batch; any money that I get from the sale of the ones I have now goes right back into the kitty for the NEXT set of them" had been made. Just sayin.
  4. Wait, wait, wait, you're all over the map here. Point #1: USA45's coins. I'm sure that she's doing a great thing by having them made and everything. I'm not denying that doing something to remember fallen and missing soldiers is a good thing. It's a nice gesture. However, please DO try to understand and look at it from the perspective of EVERYONE else on here, who DOES NOT know USA45. From OUR perspective, someone we've never heard of before came on the forum and said, "Hi, I'm making geocoins commemorating POW / MIAs and soldiers KIA. Wanna buy 'em? They're more expensive than other geocoins, and I'm not going to tell you where the money goes." YES, after many questions, and USA45 getting a bit hot about being questioned, she finally did...sorta...answer the question of "where's the money going" (answer: to buy more coins. Or to support her garden. I'm not very clear on that, and yes I have read the whole thread). Point #2: If I say "I'm not supporting this because quite frankly USA45's garden isn't exactly what I'd call a charitable contribution, and I'd rather not", that doesn't make me any less patriotic than she is. MAKING A COIN isn't "patriotic" any more than flying a flag is patriotic. These coins have nothing to do with September 11, 2001. My view of them have nothing to do with that date, either. I absolutely have not "forgotten" the impact of this war, and it's quite rude and presumptuous of you to state that anyone that isn't 100% in favor of what USA45 is doing and isn't queuing up to purchase her coins has forgotten. You have NO idea what the rest of us are doing to support the war, or the people fighting the war. You have NO idea what other people are giving up and sacrificing, any more than WE have an idea what USA45 is doing. Care to rephrase that?
  5. Funny, I would have thought Lawful Evil. Well, no, because then they're bound by the laws of Evil, see. Chaotic-Neutral...they can do anything.
  6. <RPG Geek> I always figured that all reviewers were automatically Chaotic-Neutral. </RPG Geek>
  7. Congrats to 501 & Klever Boys. Found out last night that the eyes are glow-in-the-dark. Rather startling to turn off the lights and have 2 spots of light glowing at you...
  8. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Just got a call from my much better half, saying that there was a "mysterious manila envelope" in the mail today, and it just so happened to have a GeoCoinBug Coin in it! He was totally unsuspecting, and had no idea that I'd requested anything; THANK YOU so much for the coin!
  9. Ah, this looks like a problem with the site in general; I've submitted a "report" to the forum mods to have it moved to the "Web Site" forum where it'll get the attention it needs. Sorry I can't be more actual HELP, though.
  10. We need more information from you to help you out - what are you trying to do? Are you upgrading from a basic to a premium membership? What did the validation email say? What did you do, and what happened when you did it?
  11. Watching! Cool idea; thanks! And somehow, I am not surprised at the identity (and the riddle) of the person who won the Raine coin.
  12. <setting out BugBait> Is the GeoCoinBug still there? If so, this is a polite request to please
  13. Ah, what the heck. I'll be vaguely blasphemous and guess 143.
  14. Ah-ha! The rest of the puzzle! OK, deafhunt, go to the top of the forums. Look at the upper part of the browser window, on the right-hand side. It should say My Controls . View New Posts . My Assistant . 0 New Messages Click on My Controls. That will take you to the Control window. Scroll down till you see "Options". Under "Options" will be "Board Settings." (Circled in RED below) Click on Board Settings, and you can set your "Personal Messenger Options" to NO. (NO means it's NOT turned off). Again, see below, circled in BLUE. Hope this helps!
  15. OK, it looks as though it's an issue with deafhunt's account / PM status. I just tried to send him one, to see if he could even receive any, and if he got it, he could try to reply to it. Here's the error message I got: So apparently Personal Messenger is disabled for deafhunt's account. No idea on how to "turn it on"; hopefully someone far wiser and more knowledgeable than I can trot along shortly and give you suggestions on that part. Sorry I couldn't be more help...
  16. Wait....you just recently got a MeriGold repaired under warranty? The Meridian Gold was discontinued in December of 2005, and they're still honoring a warranty on it almost 2 years later? Heck of a warranty. I understand your frustration with their customer service and everything, but dang, still doing warranty repairs after almost 2 years is pretty dang impressive. (FTR: I've had Maggies for over 4 years; never had a problem. Currently I own a MeriGold, and my better half uses a MeriPlat).
  17. Same problem with the Travel Bug maps. Map server error.
  18. Wow that's cool. Here's the oldest unfound in the world, as far as I could tell. Placed January 6, 2001, in Belize. Never been found. (Hint: don't give the PQ any home coordinates, just pick "countries" and pick 'em all. I also verified by picking "states/provinces" next and picked THEM all, and it gave me the same results.)
  19. Gadzooks, I would hope not. I actually came into the thread to say that I really do like the new look. Originally I thought the new boxes at the top were too large and left too much whitespace on the page, and I wasn't happy that # of Watchers went away, but I figured it was livable. And then you fixed both of those. The whitespace issue went away with the reformat of the map & download boxes, I love having the map up at the top so I can see where the cache is (and see if it's in my range or not!) without having to do ten "PageDowns" to get to the GoogleMaps link (because the inline map was too zoomed in to tell me anything). <looks around> Oh. Whoops. This is the "DON'T LIKE" thread. Sorry for the...um...threadguatting. <sidles out of the thread.
  20. All the caches in Pokagon State Park, for varying reasons. Second Nature: MUSHROOMS! I may be a bit biased about this one, but I really like it. Seriously, it's a decent sized ammocan, and it's a great one to take newbies and kids to. Not a difficult hike, by any means, and a Powered Wheelchair is available for borrowage from the Nature Center. The Great Pokagon Legacy Multi Cache. This is a GREAT cache if you're into learning about the history of the place. This cache takes you all OVER the park, and each site is another significant location in the park's history. Liquidambar styraciflua stectum is a good, rather eeeeevil hide for them what likes difficult microhides. The Pokagon Natural Legacy Cache takes you to some of the most scenic areas of the park...and it has the advantage of enabling you to double-up on your caching. There are Earthcaches along this route! Be sure to load 'em ALL up in your GPS before starting this one. The Evil Green Menace teaches cachers something about tree identification, as well as highlighting the very real dangers to our forests from the Emerald Ash Borer. Artesian highlights a lovely feature of the park, as well as being near an Earthcache. Plus, there are 4 Earthcaches and 18 Waymarks in the park. And I definitely second the "Purdue Wildlife Practicum" cache. That one is FABULOUS.
  21. Definition of "farce", from dictionary.com: I see nothing in there about "creating a COPY of an original work with the intent of KEEPING the original work." Item: You created a COPY of an original work (a Kansas(?) geocoin) that you found in a geocache, so you could have the original to keep. Item: Should you have wanted to KEEP an original of the geocoin, you could have purchased one from the standard outlet, who stood to make money on that purchase. Item: By doing so, you deprived the merchant of their money, which they were entitled to. Copying of an original work instead of purchasing your very own legal copy of it is illegal. It's called INTELLECTUAL THEFT AND COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.
  22. Well, sure. That's YOUR intellectual property, you see. Big difference.
  23. Stealing? Call the police up and tell them that someone has stolen something you owned and replaced it with an exact duplicate. Then explain that you haven't actually SEEN the original in over a year because you left it in a tupperware container out in the woods and you can't produce the forgery because it is in an ammo box in middle Ga. Noooooo, call the police up and tell them that someone has ILLEGALLY COPIED their design, and showing them this thread to prove it. Copyright infringement at the least, and possible theft of intellectual property. All the proof is in YOUR pictures and YOUR posts. Someone ELSE designed and made that coin. You had NO RIGHT to obtain a copy of that coin through any avenue except the accepted, legitimate ones - purchase or trade from the holders of the rights to that coin. I've reported this thread, by the way, for TPTB to look into.
  24. Yeah, but with the current PQ setup, you can't exclude caches that are placed by a certain person. If that feature were added to the PQ setup, I'd be happy
