  1. This is really making me have a good laugh. Very , very funny. My daughter will have to wait a few days to read all this. BTW twelve hours on and Mom and Bub are doing fine.
  2. For intrests sake I just had a look to see how many caches there are at the moment to be got in just 2 states (NJ and Penn.) I was amazed to see 661 are available .It seems quite possible to get over 600 without going too far afield. We don't have that many in the whole of our country. Leave them alone they obviously love caching and good luck to them.
  3. Just posted the first package. Should take about 6-8 days.
  4. A few days early but my daughter has just had a little girl so that made her 4 days to go when she placed their latest cache. The SNAFUADV Team now counts 4.

  6. I love reading all the entries in all the logs. A few of our local cachers write very little but some write an epic. It really is a shame when they get burnt or vandalized as a lot of funny tales go with them.
  7. I have placed theme cache a few times and one of the popular ones is all purple. There are about 15 or so purple items and everyone has had a great time with it. I did a halloween one and a Fathers day one and a valentine type one. I have an easter one at the moment and the starting items were...6 hand blown and painted eggs, 6 chocolate eggs, 6 chocolate bunnies, 6 tiny yellow chicks plus of course log and pen. All this was enclosed in 2x1dozen egg cartons inside a very large container.

  9. When the 2 Dogs place a new cache we try to have at least 6 to 7 new items in it. I also like to leave the items in their original packaging. I have done some caches where I have put in about 20 items but the cache container is also very large. I usually take a photo of my caches with all the original items in view just in case someone wonders how many things are/were there to start with. Sometimes we do put the photo on the cache page as often we put something special in it and the cachers know what "first in best dressed" gets.

  11. My daughter is due on the 25th March. Yesterday they travelled on a very bumpy gravel road to place a cache in the Northern Territory (Australia). I have been half expecting to get a call to say "it's on the way" but no, still she waits with 6 days to go. She is part of the SNAFUADV Team and the new baby will be out caching ASAP.
  12. There is a cache here is OZ called "Fireproof" and yes it is underwater but one does not have to put on the scuba gear to get it. It is anchored with a stainless steel clip and you can get to it even in a king tide. When I found it everything in it was bone dry and I would expect it to stay that way as a lot of thought went into it. Just make sure that the cache container you use is definately watertight. Fill your bathtub and give it a test.
  13. There are a few female cachers here in Australia. I think I was one of the first ones. My husband got me involved(so I can drive and he can watch his GPS). I bought our first GPS about 3 years back , you know the big boys and their expensive little toys syndrome, and we have bought a better one since. I love the caching experience especially hunting down the caching shops. All women are born to shop. I am in my 50's with, OH NO, grey hair.Have never been a red head. My daughter is also a cacher in the SNAFUADV team from the Northern Territory. She is 26 and a brunette.
  14. You also have to be very carefull of dingos out there as they are known to carry away babies from out of tents. NO don't tell her about that story. It is supposed to be true and a movie was made about it.
  15. Wow we have a very big rock in the center of Australia but that might be just a bit big to send so I will hunt down something for her as well as some freddos and caramello koalas. Ask Gizmo Dave what was in his last care package. I am sure I will find something for her.I am off to Darwin in a couple of weeks and I will have a look aroung for something up there as well.
  16. How old is she and does she collect anything special. Looks like another care package on the way to the USA. Give us some ideas.

  19. Don't know anything about Macs but I am sure that Magellan could be a help. They have mapping for the IBM and it is $150.I guess it depends on the type of GPS you use as well.

  21. At a cost of more than $60Aus I think not. I spend enough on caches as it is having placed over 40 with Hounddog. These caches cost me about $20 to start with then there is the petrol and time to place them and the upkeep of them as well. One of our caches cost us over $400 (thats right) to place. An ammo box $10, contents$25, Park fees $25, plus 2 nights at the local caravan park and over 1000 kms for the round trip. We are certainly keeping geocaching alive and well in NSW without having to "pay to play".
  22. Team Piggy Do you have any of the other items besides the travel bugs?
  23. My relatives in the US have been sending notes to me for over 50 years and none have gone astray. I get them for birthdays, christmas etc. They are always in a card so it can't be seen through the envelope. Have a try with a low denomination first to see how you go. Also always send airmail otherwise it can take months.

  25. What shops have you been to. Dick Smith seem to have the best selection but since we bought there ourselves we now see that Gowings have them as well. What city are you in.
