  1. There is something that looks like it could be a TB tag in the nest today
  2. I felt that the note on the cache page was intended to insult. Considering that I am trying to teach my 12 yr old to respect other people and she is a cacher, I would have definitely pointed out the rudeness in the note and explained why I felt it was inappropriate. Then I might just contact the cache owner to ask that the note be removed...
  3. Hi Phillybits: Welcome to geocaching.com we can always use more geocachers. I looked at your blog. It's great that you found the coin and were honest enough not to keep it! Just so you know, it's better not to post the tracking numbers for coins or Travel Bugs on the website or yours. Then they can be cyber"grabbed" and make travels they haven't actually done. Alot of people somehow photoshop the numbers out of the pictures. I hope you keep up with geocaching, it is alot of fun! edited for spelling error
  4. I just looked at your first log. When you log your find, change the date to the date that you were actually there. You can edit your log after the fact as well. It might make more sense to people who have looked for the TB after you were there. Welcome to geocaching!
  5. I would like to get at least a couple of the standard version of the coin to commemorate our upcoming visit to the plaque.
  6. $70 annual pass / 33 caches placed by UTP = $2.12 per cache. The pass allows up to 7 pers per vehicle, carpooling will make it even cheaper. Plus, it looks like they will be advertising Geocaching on their 50th Ann page: http://www.stateparks.utah.gov/50ann.htm# Bring some more positive info about geocaching & more geocachers to the sport, sounds good to me I see that they are also doing a "special State Parks 50th Anniversary geocoin" which will be placed as swag as well. They seem to have put a lot of effort & time into this. I have no problem with these caches myself.
  7. If you highlight the co-ordinates in the cache page, you can paste them in Google Earth and get the direction that way. On your My Account page in Geocaching.com, on the right hand side partway down, you can download a .kml file for Google Earth & see the caches as well.
  8. First off welcome to geocaching. It is alot of fun! You can get some great tips and hints from a podcast from a cacher called Icenrye - you can easily google him. He is from Prince George. You can watch it on his website if you don't have a video i-pod. As a transplanted Calgarian, I am a little jealous of your locale, although it is beautiful here as well. Also, check out www.GeocacherUniversity.com they have a good section on geocaching 101.
  9. We started out with the basic yellow Garmin eTrex, saw one in Walmart this morning. Not really great in heavy tree cover, but do-able.
  10. check out Geocacher University. It gives you a good beginners logging instruction. http://www.geocacher-u.com/101/firsthunt.html I have this site bookmarked and go back and check on things every few weeks
  11. http://www.geocacher-u.com/101/firsthunt7.html This is a good site to get you started with logging in. Another resource I really like is a site called Icenrye. You can watch his podcaches on-line and he gives lots of tricks and hints. Do you know what the tracking number of your Diabetes TB, you will need that to start it's log if you still have it. If not, do you know which city the Travel Bug had it's goal as? BTW, there is a monthy Meet & Greet in Edmonton for Geocachers, I am sure they would love to have you and would be more than willing to help you out as well. If you need more info let me know.
  12. Congratulations! The thrill of the blank log is great isn't it?
  13. Keeper, you have no geocaches logged or travel bugs in your profile. Do you need help getting started?
  14. I am also a newer geocacher. I really like Icenrye as well. I can download directly onto my video i-pod but I know you can watch on your pc from the website. Also, Geocacher University has alot of info - geocaching 101. I have learned to expect the unexpected when out geocaching. The imagination and work on some of the caches and the incredible places that they are put in are awesome.
  15. Good luck in finding your coin. You could also try e-mailing or calling in to podcacher. Maybe they could make a quick shout out for you.
