  1. 3 times for me,so far i was looking for a FTF this one drizzley day, and i was at GZ no longer than 10 minutes when i heard a voice behind say "Find it yet?" The dude startled me, and found the cache 2 minutes later. Agreed on co-FTF next time i was camping with my (then)girlfriend and some others in a great state park near me. we were going for a multi-cache called "Thirsty for that Healing Water". We were heading for what i thought was the first stage when we came across a pair of cachers(though i didn't know them yet) from our local forum. they told me that i was actually heading for the final. Told us to turn around and go the other way. After i had found the final, we met them again on the way out. chatted a bit, then went back to camp last time i met a cacher in the wild, i was in a park that had at least 10 caches to find. I had just found one of our areas top cache placers (which i made quite adventurous for my self, a cache called Were O Were), i was on my way back to the trail when a guy came by with his dog playing Frisbee golf. I hid from him til he went past, then i got back to the trail. turns out that he had finished his course and was walking towards me. it turns out that it was the great local cache placer himself(i think hes got about 100 caches placed currently). he took me on a tour of the rest of the caches in the park, including a multi of his i DNF'd earlier that day
  2. Someone copied that in my area. I believe yours may be a copy of the original too. Yep, hard to find, but I did find it after about 45 minutes over three trips. Kinda violates the whole "buried" thing, actually (in my opinion). Yep, he says right on the page that he copied the idea there's also a fake bolt cache up here in my area. also been to it 4 times, to "find" it once, then really finding it when i went back to it with some previous finders
  3. how about one i haven't found yet. It's a cache near me, called The Heck With This!! Its a matchbox stuck in the ground with astroturf on top of it. Real evil cache. Been to it 5 times only to DNF it about 3. It's also real muggley, right near a baseball field
  4. I've learned that if your going for the 20-mile cache near you, bring more than 1 bottle of water. and food. and how to get back to the car so your friends don't worry about you
  5. Um, how soon we forget. Or I'll say in most of your cases, don't know about. A State Senator in South Carolina went bonkers over geocaching in cemeteries in 2005, and even introduced a bill to have it banned. Ultimately, it never became law. Check out the first post in the thread I'm linking below, which is basically a report on the Senators anti-geocaching presentation before the Senate. Doesn't exactly cast our hobby in a positive light. Edit to mention, all the damning evidence was over night caching in cemeteries, even though the legislation sought to ban cemetery caching outright. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=South+Carolina It wasn't just S.C. though, shock waves were felt all over the United States. You'd have had a snowballs chance in hell of getting a cemetery cache approved without proof of explicit permission in my State (New York) for about 2 years after that. The reviewers have since loosened up a little. Until it happens again, of course. My post wasn't about geocaching in a cemetery at night, it was about being in a cemetery at night. Doesn't matter what you are doing there... Maybe we just don't have enough real crime, maybe they don't like stones and plots getting vandalized. Whatever the reason, they arrest... Oh, I just quoted you because you were the post above me. I could have quoted any of the "bad idea" posts. Or none at all. This was a really, really big deal at the time, believe me. I don't want to sound like some grumpy old fart lecturing people, but we geocachers are expected to be much more responsible than screwing around in cemeteries at 1:00 AM because it's "cool". Besides, there's no such thing as ghosts anyways. Someone's never seen Ghost Hunters
  6. A good first timer GPS would be a Garmin eTrex H. I've got one, been caching three years, only had it almost one. Combine it with a TomTom, you've got a good GPS pair
  7. You wonder why no one has placed any caches in the University near you...............................yet Your at work, trying to get from one spot to another, and walk through the tupperware asile by accident and slow down to see what we got in, you consider using a birdhouse that you made a few years ago for an Eagle Project/Senior Project, have a real bird nest with fake eggs and a nano underneath. I did have this out, but it was too close to the reviewers actual account cache. Went back to see if i could move it, and i couldn't find the birdnest......... your keeping a used wasps nest to use as a "cache" you got a car travel bug to log the miles it's gone to every cache you go to you've never gone night caching until an event near you lets out almost at sunset (that made no sense....) you barely cache the first two years you've found out about this game, and in your third year, you've cached almost all year, except March your most finds in one day is 10, 9 dnfs your next most finds for one day is 9, 8 dnfs and you've gone back for those 9 or 8 to find them
  8. I was on my way to a FTF and was passing under a concrete bridge over a canal when I found a nude model and photographer doing a photo shoot, using the colourful graffiti on the bridge as a backdrop. The photographer asked me to wave in the background of one of the photos, so I held up my GPSr! He did mention the website he was working for, I looked it up and it was an artists and photographers site (NOT porn!) but the photos hadn't been posted, I never did find the pictures anywhere! Was it a male or female model?
  9. i got one submitted and approved within an hour and a half. another took a few days. you may want to ask the reviewer what's wrong the cache. Or the reveiwer MAY be at an event, out caching, on vacation, having a life? The reviewer's are all volunteers, they don't get paid by the cache.
  10. how can you be attached by a swarm of bees?? Attacked is more like it
  11. i was going to say you were born, but that would make you 91 years old
  12. Hello Keruso! Premium Member Since: 6/17/2006 Renewal Date: 8/18/2009 Caches Found: 127 Caches Hidden: 14 View Profile | Log Out Stat Bar does that mean anything to you?
  13. does that mean it's outside your house? Naw, I keep my PC in a tree-stand in the woods. Yep. Right outside. Just a quick, easy, kid friendly cash n dash, and a chance to meet some really nice cachers. your only 250 miles from me. someday, i'll come for that cache
  14. I'm not sure how I missed this thread. Good idea! My nearest found cache is 0.1 mile My nearest unfound cache is 1.5 miles P.S. In case some of you missed it you can post your farthest away found cache here. wow, i completely forgot about this thread....... That puzzle cache is now found. was quite hard. took me a few times to find it. Neighbor (who looked like a biker) didn't help much. now my nearest unfound is 1.7 miles from me. it's my friends cache. Shouldn't be hard to find
  15. after seeing this thread, i had an idea. I've got an empty wasps nest somewhere on the ground around my house. And since they "Stick" to one spot, i'd thought i would glue/tape the empty wasps nest to a magnetic keyholder and place it somewhere..................convienient. Anyone would wanna go for that one? This might top my Birdhouse idea i had that actually was out in the wilderness, but didn't work. never got published. It was near the reviewers own cache (coughleprechuanscoughkeystonecough)
  16. I feel your pain...... my farthest find is 40.5 away and not likely to change for a while. I am in the same 'plus side' boat too. i will crack #100 next week when my dad, my two sons & myself head out for a cache day. lol well, to update myself on this, i can't believe that was in June, i now have 126 caches found.................and i only updated my distance up to 17.4 miles i still suck...............but there's a hell of a lot of caches between me and that 17.4 miles. This is on page 37, with lots more caches continously coming out whoops, my bad. It turns out my distance is actually 18.1 miles, and it's page 39 now

  18. in my case, the other way around. I was the last to discover a bug in a Travel bug hotel thats near me. Some finders later, i get a message from a travel bug owner asking me to check on his bug to see if it was still in the hotel. Since the hotel was, at least, 5-6 miles from me, i told him that i would next time i was out that way. A week or two later i was able to get back to the cache to see if the bug was still there. It wasn't. got picked up and went to Europe. The cacher wasn't able to log it for a while, like say 3-4 months.
  19. a full size, actual working Trumpet. My caching partner had a hard time finding a large enough cache to place it in. I believe the name was Trumpeter's Delight
  20. Great thanx - Just tested it and it works um......unless you submitted a new cache, how the heck did you test that?
  21. Whats attracking? who are you attracking? unless you mean attracting. It's not all that bad, i use up my mom's plastic pill bottles that she throws away and use them for micros, of course i camo tape them first
  22. when you decide to place every cache on your watchlist onto your GPS...........and you've only found 125 caches
  23. September 11 by newb (2 found) 6e 65 61 74 WHAT!!?!?!??!! he did the same thing with his DNF log on the same cache of mine................. Needless to say, i have no idea what he said, so i deleted both his found and DNF log
  24. How on earth do you find a cache only by using your breasts? What if mine aren't big enough? I can always walk into a rest room intended for the opposite sex, I do not need anybody for that. i really dont want to know what you meant by that
