  1. That's sound great. I'm glad to see this. I'm curious to see if the permit will require a fee. I think we should all thank amazon annie, bear and duck and BQ for the work they put in.
  2. It's good to see that some progress is being made with the HCA. I think is very positive news and am very happy to see that the are working with us. Hopefully, some policies can be drafted that will help to maintain geocaching in the area and ensure that HCA lands are protected. Perhaps once some policies are in place these can be used to help sway the provincial parks people. Thanks for the good work BQ.
  3. Just on another note, our e-mail appears to be legitiment. So I would encourage any geocachers contacted by the HCA to cooperate with them and hopefully we can reach a mutual beneficial solution.
  4. We have also just been contacted by the HCA about one of our caches. The letter we recieved is almost identical to the one J.A.R.S. received. It would seem that they are now in the process of reviewing all caches on their property. Although, it seems positive that they are willing to work with the geocaching community to help establish some policies. In our particular case they were concerned that our cache was too far off the marked trails and we were asked to relocated closer to the trials. We replied back telling them that we would remove the cache promptly and have currently disabled the cache page to insure no one else goes looking for it. We also mentioned the practice of CITO and that when we placed the cache we cleaned *alot* of garbage from a nearby firepit to help improve the immediate area. we got this reply back this morning I think this is a very positive sign and this people are very willing to talk.
  5. There was an article in the Hamilton Spec yesterday
  6. We bought a gps from gpscentral. I could not have asked for a better transaction. I orderd it monday morning and it arrived the next day(I only paid for the regular dilivery too). Also, b/c the store is based in Alberta you will not have to pay for any provincial sales tax (still have to pay for GST). While this might not be the absolute cheapest place to buy (much cheaper than any local stores around here), they have a good reputation. EmmaBean "dadgum the Man. Save the Empire."
  7. I have had some fairly good services from gpsdeal.com in Quebec. I had phoned garmin b/c my Venture's click stick was 'acting' up. They told me it would easier for me to ship it to some place in Quebec and gave the phone number. When I phoned the guy on the other line told me to fill out a return form on gpsdeal.com and mail the unit to them. I sent it last Wednesday (Xpresspost) and I got it back yesterday (tuesday). I was pretty impressed that it only took 6 days. The click stick does 'feel' different so I think it is fixed but I haven't used it extensively. It sucks that your's took so long. That was my biggest fear about sending it away. I would also think that if they replaced your GPS, it shouldn't have take that long. I would write to Garmin and tell them that you are unhappy with the situation. Most companies appreciate feedback, both the good and the bad. EmmaBean "dadgum the Man. Save the Empire."
