1. My backyard isn't really that large, but we could prolly bunk people together and such. Dig a slit trench for waste. I'm sure it would be super fun.
2. But the question really is....WHERE in Indiana...*Dum-Dum-DUUUUUUUUM*
3. Hello Again. I've gone back and forth with Magellan on the problem I have been having, which is described here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...skeyrblnpatriot They thought that it was due to the battery at first, but I took it to a battery dealer and had them test it. It has been discovered that the battery is perfect. Litteraly. It tested at 104% So that narrows it down to two things. The Unit itself or the cable Which brings me to my next point. I need to call on you all, and your help. To narrow this down further, I need to test the my unit with other cables, so here's the thing. I need to find people nearby my, hopefully within only a 100 miles, that have the same system, IE: Using an eXplorist 600 unit. I need to hook MY unit up to THEIR cable to determine if it will charge using their cable. If it does, than it is a simple cable problem, and I can replace the cable. IF, on the other hand, my unit STILL refuses to charge using a totally different cable, than it is the unit that is faulty and needs work. But before I can do that, I need to narrow it down. So, here I am, calling on the Community, to help me out. If you live within a couple miles of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and use the charging system used in the Magellan eXplorist 600 unit, please contact me so we can do this. I know for a fact that at least one member does, but they said they were going on vacation out of the country or some such, and wouldn't be in town. Hopefully I won't bother the moderator too much, in that I intend to maintain this topic near by the top of the list by bumping it if it goes for a week without an update. signed, -Michael B.- The WhiskeyRblnPatriot Thank You.
4. Just got off the phone with Magellan. What a crock. Didn't take long to get ahold of them or anything but going through that rigamoral is draining. I love the fact that the cause of all my problems is obviously the battery, 'cause, you know. The battery would cause the unit to not turn on at all even though it's plugged into the wall. And it also would dramatically change the contrast on the screen. And it would cause the unit to freeze and restart itself. Not to mention the fact I didn't have any problems with it charging about half way through my little fun time yesterday. Great. Now they want me to fax them my proof of purchase. The only thing I have that comes close to meeting that criteria is the Ebay receipt. Will they even accept that? It's technically a proof of purchase, but it's also Ebay. Grrr...maybe I should do as a friend of mine suggested and make up an official looking receipt using all the dealer's information he's provided to me on the receipt and box and such. le-grrrrr. I'm annoyed.
5. How do you charge it by the usb again? Something about turning the cable upside-down so the cable is running out of the top of the unit? Or is it just unplug the wall outlet and plug it into the computer?
6. I have it plugged in on the wall outlet. It's not connected to my computer. Also, the info screen doesn't say it's charging. It just has an icon of a power cable and terminal and the words "external power". I looked at it once as I was plugging it back in and noted that for the first milisecond it's plugged in, the screen does indeed change to "charging" but only for a moment, then switches over to "external power". :-/ I confess to knowing *NOTHING* about Magellans, but this sure sounds like a power supply problem to me. Do you have a voltmeter you can check it with? *blinks* Not that I can recall. I can dig through a couple boxes maybe. Oh, I know. I could put the battery to my tounge. that'd be sweet.

8. Yup. I've never had the issue about turning the cable around. It is attatched with the cable running down the back of the device, as opposed to the top.
9. I'm having a very weird, and nerve wracking day. Earlier this afternoon, in anticipation of going out and doing some caching, I plugged my 600 in to fully charge, so I wouldnt have to worry about it dying while out (yes, yes. I know, its unlikely unless I were to spend more than 17 hour out) I got back from doing some running around. Plopped into my chair and tried to fire it up. Nothing happened. stayed completly dark. I went ahead and unplugged it/unscrewed it from the charger, removed the battery, replaced the battery, plugged it back in and started it up. It came on, but I noticed the contrast semed to be darker. It took forever to get a lock. So long that it prompted me for my region. I started to put that in, when the screen changed back to the "explorist...checking media" opening screen. As though it had restarted. As I was attempting to do the region thing again, the screen froze on me. I gave it a couple minutes, but nothing happened, so I unplugged it and had to remove the battery. (cringe). Putting it all back together, I noticed that it wasn't "charging" the battery. I turned it off, took it outside, and tried again. It came on, got a lock on about 6 birds, but the batter had about a 1/10 of a charge, so I rushed back inside to plug it back in. But now it says "external power" not "charging". Needless to say, I'm very freaked out and anxious. It has given me zero trouble for the first three days that I've had it. Last night I updated the firmware from magellan's site, and I'm wondering if that could be the problem. :'( I don't want my little guy to die. I wuv'em. Please help. -Michael-
10. "Friends don't let Friends drink and cache" Better? :-D
11. No. You're not the only one. Still waiting on my GPS to show up. Needless to say, the desire is getting so bad, my co-workers are sick of me rambling on about it, and have to told me a couple times to shut the hell up. Just so yuse guys don't forget what GEOCACHING in INDIANA is like, here is a pic of me at one of my secret caches Saturday... Wet and full of hellhounds? Really? Hellhounds? Do we know you? I was being light hearted Note the " "
12. Madmike? You totally stole that from author (and friend of mine) Michael Z. Williamson. That's his handle for everything online. AIM, LJ, ad infinitum. On a side note: I wouldn't mind knowing who is not caucasian....mainly because I'm incredably attracted to people that are not the everyday type of "single white female", and would like to know who to flirt with. *evil Grin*. Not a very good reason, I know. Oh. Yeah. BTW: I'm almost entirely made up of Pennsylvania Dutch. Germanic stock...north-eastern part of europe. *shrugs* We were mostly quakers if I remember correctly.*snort*
13. I say go with the flow That is the coolest thing, ev-AH. +5 points for awesomeness!

16. Wow. I'm so glad I'm not "The Crazy Guy" for once.
17. I'm trying to get down to purchasing a higher end, good, one purchase nessary GPS. I have a chance at purchasing a XL for an amazingly good price, but, for some reason, thought the 600 was a better choice. I can't remember why I thought this, so I figured I'd get all'ya'all's impressions on the two. What is the most glaring issue between the two, and which do you think would be a better choice? -Michael-
18. Whiskey Rebellion Patriot: There are probably some Ft. Wayne Cachers who would be glad to take you caching with them and show you the ropes, until you get your GPSr. Go to the Ft. Wayne Geo Board to meet the local Cachers there. DON"T mention my name. Heres a link: Ft. Wayne Geo Board Forums And if you havae access to online topo maps and a compass, that's another way to go. See. This is another case of a question that I keep thinking of asking, that never seems to be answered on any of the informational stuff online, INCLUDING the GeoCaching Un. help website by that one guy. Wtheck is the compass for?
19. (sorry, new) What's the "SiRF chipset"? and why is it so wizzbang?
20. Howdy, whiskey! How did you find out about geocaching? Planned your first hunt yet? Oh, to be a nooby and have all those caches ahead of us! I remember vaguely hearing about it a couple years ago in the newpaper. Recently, I kept getting bombarded with it since I joined Bookcrossing.com. Then, out of no where, a long time family friend turned to me and goes "You know what? You should do that thing where people use GPS to find stuff that other people hid." and I replied "You mean GeoCaching?" "YEAH! That. You should join that." I figured it was a sign, so here I am Haven't quite figured out which Cache to find yet. Still working on getting my GPSr. I cand always get the "IPFW: A Higher Education" one, since I know exactly where that is, and I don't need a GPSr OR another person to help me out. I can do it all on my own. Wonder if I would get extra credit points for being a one man team? Any suggestions?
21. Hello. New Fort Wayner Cacher(cache-er?). Figured I'd say howdy.
