  1. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions. In fact GeoTrekker26 was exactly correct, I was NOT creating the pocket query from scratch each time. I had assumed that the application was coded such that I could fill out the form, submit it, and then return to the top to create a new Query by adding a new name and coordinates. Thanks to this help, I was able to create several queries successfully today.
  2. I'm having trouble creating pocket queries. Yesterday, I created two pocket queries to run today but only the 2nd one appeared in my e-mail and it appeared as a pocket query on my phone. Any idea why the first Query didn't work? Tonight I created two more. I submitted each of them but only see the second one added to my list of pocket queries and I'm sure that I will only get one e-mail tomorrow again. I have an overseas trip coming up and would like to use these to minimize my reliance on cell-data for the limited amount of time that I will have for geocaching. I have read the online Pocket Query guide but did not find any obvious tips there that could be the source of my problem. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Carl
  3. Here is an interesting GPS accuracy study: Gps Accuracy Study Note that the Trimble lists for about $6000 but you can obviously get adequate results with other devices. Since I am an iPhone user, I wonder how to get multiple results and average them with my iPhone.
  4. I was waiting for someone to ask about that. Yes, the Google Maps watermark is still present, but if you pay attention to the STREET map, you will find it is in fact Apple maps being used by the geocaching app.
  5. No, actually it is a "Google Map" and "Google Satellite View" that is used by the Groundspeak Geocache App. As for the new Apple maps, I don't like them either. I switched to the "Google Maps" app for day-to-day navigation outside of the Groundspeak Geocaching App.
  6. I use the Groundspeak iPhone Application for most of my Caching and am very happy with it. Lately (maybe within the last 6 months or so (I lose track of time!)) I'll seen that the map or satellite view display starts throbbing when you near the final cache location. You can stop the throbbing by zooming in the display to the max. zoom level, but it is irritating to have to do this manually. I would have expected the Groundspeak App to automatically zoom in as far as possible. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is Groundspeak aware of this problem? My iPhone is a model 4S with 16Gig of memory and I have upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 Thanks in advance.
  7. The posting recommending the Greasespot Addin to Mozilla including installation of the Java Script works for me today. I now have the Google Sat-View back on the GC maps view but who knows for how long. Unfortunately, you cannot zoom in to the same level of detail that is possible from maps.google.com. Not sure what the limitation in the script is here but maybe one of our whiz kids will figure it out and offer an updated script. Bing Maps & Aerial View is also available with a similar limitation on zoom capability. The latter is not quite as good as Google but maybe we should use it since MicroSoft has not "yet" instituted predatory pricing for hobby sites such as ours. I am at the point now too where I will reduce my dependency on google search as well. Might as well exercise my free will to use other search engines.
  8. Even when it works to zoom in, the new satellite view does not zoom in to the same level of detail that the Google view gave. I definitely don't like the new system. What's the next step? The maps on my iPhone still work and are high quality google maps, but how long before they are pulled too?
