  1. You can not export waypoints or pushpins from Streets and Trips. You will need MapPoint. This is microsofts Streets and Trips on steroids.
  2. Thank you again pilotsnipes for your hard work. Like many others, this was my first attempt at paperless caching, and it works great !! I actually bought my 350 solely because of your macro. I hope Garmin took notice of your macro coinciding with an increase of Nuvi sales, and puts a little something extra in your Christmas stocking this year !! Take care, Kurt.
  3. check ebay. search etrex cable. i bought an etrex cable, and a USB adaptor with driver. I think with shipping it was around $20.00. the ebay store was 'discount cables for u'. I use this set-up with GSAK. i match up the com port and it works flawlessly !!
  4. Check post #558 above. Looks like the latest Garmin update fixed the problem.
  5. They are there... it only shows the closest 50 to your current coords. search for one that is not showing. it will be there. i have a 350, and asked the same question...
  6. right mouse click on any of the ballons, click 'hide all information'
  7. You are just wanting to change the name field? Under the macro screen, right click on the macro and choose edit. Find this in the macro code: $waypointnamesmallscreen = "%ShortName=7/%typ=3/%found/%code%bug=* " $waypointnamewidescreen = "%ShortName=14/%typ=3/%found/%code%bug=* " Change "%ShortName=14/%typ=3/%found/%code%bug=* " to wahatever you want for the name. If you just want the cache name, use "%name" Thank You Red90. I adjusted the macro to "%name" and this works great !!!
  8. These are MUST SEE urban caches. Outstanding hides. They are in Fountain Valley, next to Santa Ana - GC12EM4 GC11GNF Also search GC1CF37, and spend some time there afterwards. One of the more 'upscale' type of locations in the country. Have fun on your trip ...
  9. Pharmadude, post # 284 by jholly, and piolotsnipes response on post # 286 on this thread are talking about the same thing. Pilotsnipes response, I believe, is talking about the macro lines 'way point name'. They are located near the top of the macro... How to edit it to your liking, well I cant help much there. I have no idea what text or symbols to delete / change .... #################### # # This is the settings section for advance users. # #################### $SettingsFile=$_Install+"\macros\garmin-nuvi-exportgpx.dat" $geofile = "Geocache TourGuide" $geofilejpg = "futurefeature.jpg" $maxlogs = 10 # Set the waypoint name here for widescreen and smallscreen: Vsub status=off $waypointnamesmallscreen = "%ShortName=7/%typ=3/%found/%code%bug=* " $waypointnamewidescreen = "%ShortName=14/%typ=3/%found/%code%bug=* " vsub status=on
  10. similar to tupperware. they are food storage containers. lock n' lock is the brand name. all four sides fold down and 'lock'. i buy mine @ Walmart. here is a link to the containers - lock n' lock
  11. I'm sorry to say get used to it. Unfortunately, at that age the only accounts they want would be an instant messaging account and a Facebook account. At about ages 13 and 14 the fun outings we used to have together were pretty much through. Getting our kid to come out with us on any sort of outdoor activity was like getting her to go to the dentist. Of course we could make her come, but then the outings were about as fun as a trip to the dentist if we did that. It's just the age. We learned not to take it personally. Heck, I did it to my parents, so I guess it's just payback time. Hopefully you'll have better luck with your teen than we did with our daughter and most of our friends had with theirs. I must be one of the lucky ones My 13 ( 14 in Aug ) year old son loves going out looking for caches. We just solved a pretty lengthy puzzle cache yesterday...
  12. I also would like attributes in my gpx files from the GC.com pocket queries. I have two queries for my home zip code. One for all caches, and one for caches available 24/7. Being able to sort in GSAK (or other available software) the attributes would be a great help in filtering and creating mulitple databases from one query. Thank you for listening... - Kurt T.
  13. I had the same problem. Make sure you select the day of the week your running it on ... Ex.- select Sat if your running it on Saturday.
  14. Look at this one built around pilotsnipes excellent macro http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=195389 It may have what you're looking for. Thanks jjreds ... I have tried your macro a couple of times now (you have put a ton of work into that by the way), but it is really a lot more than I need. I am having great luck with pilotsnipes original. Is there anyway the orginal macro can show the different data base names on the nuvi? I dont mind renaming them in Garmin\POI, i just which the folder names would show up instead of "Geocache TourGuide" i dont really know anything about programming and/or macros. is this where the file name is coming from ?? $SettingsFile=$_Install+"\macros\garmin-nuvi-exportgpx.dat" $geofile = "Geocache TourGuide" $geofilejpg = "futurefeature.jpg" $maxlogs = 10 Pilot / JJ ... Is there anything we can do to tweak this to show the actual folder name on the nuvi ?? Thanks for your help, Kurt T. I think this is your answer, yes. After you make your .gpx file with GSAK aka "Geocache TourGuide.gpx. Rename it to Whatever.gpx. When PIOLoader loads it onto your Nuvi it will show up as "Whatever." I have one named "Kansas Only", "Oklahoma Trip 2008", "Missouri." Excellent. Thank you The Ravens. This worked perfect !! I am now in geocaching 7th heaven !!!

  16. "If the answers to any of those are "yes" maybe a handheld is not a bad idea. However, if you are an adult urban cacher, which is not at all uncommon, likely I don't think you will see any vast improvement in a handheld." My thoughts exactly !! I love my nuvi (350) for urban caching !! AND for the best of both worlds, I just ordered a serial cable and UBS connector for my Etrex !!! Lovin life !!!
  17. I'm loving my nuvi 350. $279.00 at best buy this week (normally $399.00) ...
  18. Hehehe, bless their little cotton socks! Hey, I resemble that remark ... Thanks JJ for the additional macro info .. Gonna give it a run ...
  19. I did as above for 3 different databases. In Garmin\POI I named each file different. Now in Where To>My Locations>Custom POIs>, all three POI databases are there, but they are all named Geocache TourGuide. Is there a way for the name of the POI file to appear in the Custom POI menu on the Garmin ??? Thanks again for this excellent geocaching tool !!!
  20. Thanks very much, if anyone else wants to listen to the show it's at: POPCACHER MP3 at the review starts at time: 14:07 If you want to let the guys know what you think of geocaching for the Nuvi, give them an shout at http://www.podcacher.com/?page_id=8 Wow, that pod cast wasnt very flatering towards caching with the nuvi. The gal said she didnt want to do math while caching... hmmmm... The coords increase or decrease while walking N/S or E/W .. pretty simple I personal LOVE caching with my nuvi. Pilotsnipes tutorial is the sole reason I bought my nuvi last week !!
  21. My 350 also only accepts 50 POI's while using the Garmin POI loader. I have searched this thread and tutorial for the special section for the 3xx users, and can not find it. Can anyone help? Thank you... And THANK YOU pilotsnipes and everyone else contributing to this excellent solution for paperless caching !! - Kurt T According to earlier posts your 350 should be working. How are you determining 50 waypoints are being loaded? Macro message? POI Loader message? The macro will load based on the active GSAK filter. In GSAK to load all the waypoints "Select a saved filter" should be set to "NONE" yep, 'select a saved filter' is set to 'none' in gsak. The macro and poi loader both confirmed 239 poi's being succesful. On my 350, under 'custom poi's', there are only 50 poi's loaded up. you search by scrolling with the down arrow. The POI's stop @ the 50th one. In posts between jws2go & pilotsnipes it looks like there might of been a tutorial on converting files to a .gpi extension ??? and then copying and pasting them into the POI folder on the 350 ??? I cant find anything on that. thanks for the help ... The Nuvi only displays the closest 50 or so. Press "spell" and search for one of the missing ones. It'll be there. Or put your Nuvi in simulation mode and set your loc 100 mi away, you'll see a different 50. Have fun! Ta-Daaaa ask, and ye shall recieve... Sure enough, when i spell one I do not see in the gps, it comes up. Thanks jjreds, i appreciate it !!
