  1. RK I have read many replys from you in the forums. Why are you so hostile towards newbies? You make comments like they should have to find 10 caches before they log they should have to read everything on the forums etc etc. But then you will take the time to write something that wont help a newbie but make them feel more insecure then they already are. Really what do you care you will never meet any of them. Its actually been a lifesaver for me. I wanted to crawl in bed never to come out again. Instead I got a gps and started walking away all the sh** in my life. Lighten up Life is short. Geocaching is for everyone even the techno stupid. Anyways what do you care I am just a newbie with under 1o cache finds. I shouldnt even be allowed to reply to you. Buggy aka Conni
  2. oh my gosh! I havent laughed this hard in awhile. Everything I read on the forum is so techno and serious. I think that everyone has a valid point. But yanno adding humour to the sport made my day. I have to admit I am usually the one screaming but I still go out I love the hunt, and the beauty. dont much care for the choosing between DEET poisoning or west nile virus or snakes or the possibility of bears lurking about. 3. quote:Originally posted by Pneumatic:I'm not sure I understand your question, so I'll answer the question I THINK you intended to ask, and hope I get close. Rather than keeping both the current coordinates and the coordinates of waypoint you want to get to on the screen at the same time, you can choose to "goto" that waypoint, and it will display an arrow on the compass screen, and tell you the distance and direction from your current location to the selected waypoint (which is probably what you want to know anyway, isn't it?) Here's how you do that. From any screen, you can bring up a "find" menu by pressing the find button (bottom button on the left side of the unit). In the find menu, you can then use the click-stick to highlight the "waypoint" option, and press down on the stick to select it. From there select "by name", and use the stick with the little pop-up keyboard to spell out the beginning of the waypoint name, and then select "OK" when you can see it in the list. Then select the waypoint, and it will bring up the waypoint information page. From there you can use the stick to highlight various elements and buttons. Select the "goto" button (down at the bottom of the screen on the left), and you're on your way. While it's the active destination, you can still cycle through the screens, and it will remain your selected destination (until you tell it to "stop navigating", or select a new destination.) Once you've gotten there, you don't necessarily want to delete the waypoint. I keep mine for context and as reminders of where things are. If you just want to stop navigating to that point, from the compass or map screens, use the stick to select the options menu (next to the page menu at the top of the screen) and select "Stop Navigating" from that menu. If you want to actually delete the waypoint, then you can bring up the waypoint information page (a shortcut is just to hold the find button down for 3 or 4 seconds to bring up the waypoint that you're currently navigating to), and then use the options menu to select "delete". I hope this answers your question. -- Pneumatic (aka Mitch) Ok Thats what I do now. I want to be able to not have to scroll through the screens. It sounds like that is not possible. Like on page 28 of the manual it shows the waypoint coords, map and pointer. I want to be able to the current coords along with it. Is that possible. Where does it show the distance on the compass screen? I guess I just need to play with while outside. I am just always in a big rush to go cacheing. Can you spell ADDICTION. 4. Hi I have a garmin etrex legend. Is there a way to have my current location and the waypoint coordinates on the same page so I dont have to flip through screens. Yes I am a newbie and I have read the manual a few times but unfortunately they dont have the manual in gps for dummies. Also how do you know how close your coordinates are? I have read posts saying the coords were 15 feet off etc. Is there any reason why I want to save all the waypoints. Once you found it wouldnt you want to delete it? Oh well only a few of my many questions. Thanks in advance Buggy aka Conni Memory Keeping At Its Best! Creative Memories Consultant

The part he missed is that you have to type the 0176 on the numeric keypad. But use ° instead; it's more universal. Also, you might want to consider typing your responses below the quoted text. It makes you look less like a forum newbie. Also, backwards things read to hard it's. http://parkrrrr.com/pirate.cgi.gif ahh well that makes more sense now doesnt it. yes keypad the thing i dont know how to use on my laptop. but the other way worked thank you so much. 8. a neogeocacher is a newbie quote:Originally posted by umc:Whats a 'neogoecacher'? And yes if the placer hid the cache and he had 20 feet of error and you have the same then you talking 40 feet right there and you'll still be inaccurate of up to 45 feet from there so it really depends. Rarely will your gps get you within 10ft the first time. If its more than 100 it could be that your gps is setup under the wrong datum. http://www.mi-geocaching.org/ __________________________ Caching without a clue.... Buggy Memory Keeping At Its Best! 9. hmm I guess I was expecting it to lead me right to it. Because of the logs cachers were writing that the coords led them right to it. The coords were N 41 36.259 W 080 11.416 My coords were N 41 26.265 W 080 11.407 But I guess that would have been about a 100 foot radius. Thanks for your help. quote:Originally posted by TMAN264:Hello, how much is so much? Being off by even up to 100 feet is sometimes common. I let my unit sit on a rock once I get within 50 feet initially, and let it settle down. As for the degree question, I am lucky I can even turn the 'puter on. Make a sanity check.http://www.mi-geocaching.org/ Buggy Memory Keeping At Its Best! Creative Memories Consultant
  10. Hi I am a neogeocacher. Found 2 today sheer luck. My coordinates were off both times. The only thing that saved me were the hints. Why would my coordiates be off so much. Also how do you make the degree symbol. I read it somewhere but cant remember how. Thanks Buggy aka Conni Memory Keeping At Its Best! Creative Memories Consultant
