  1. I did not either after I updated, I had to go to "Set up", "Main Menu"... I think. Then go all the way to the right. There should be some Icons that are not active (grayed out). You will have to play around with it... they should be there somewhere.
  2. Yes, you can do everything with GC.com that you did on Windows. GSAK will not run at all on a Mac operating system. The only option to run GSAK on your Mac is to install Windows with Parallel Desktop or Boot Camp. I have not done this because I don't want to introduce Windows and deal with all of its issues again. I will keep a PC around just to run GSAK.
  3. I use a Mac, Oregon 400T and GC.com with no problems at all. The only thing I can't do is run GSAK.
  4. I had the same problem... I hated caching with my Lowrance. I purchase the Oregon 400T and it has changed everything for geocaching for me. It is fun again. It is so easy to load, find and log the cache it is unbelievable.
  5. Does the Oregon keep a history (time and date) of your finds when you log it as found on the unit? I have searched and can't find it.
  6. I like the Colorado 400t, and Ill tell ya why. Sooner or later, from all that activity, I think the touch screen will get scratched and not work like you want it to. With the rock n roller, you really can't accidentally hit a button. And the rock n roller is replaceable. I have not had to replace it nor heard of anyone who did, but a friend managed to know his off while moving an air conditioner with it on his belt. (Do you need a GPS for moving A/C units? ) I understand the coolness of the touch screen, just not for me. The C 400T has been awesome for me with zero problems related to the unit, only to the operator. Both are good from what I have read, especially with the updated software for Colorado. I own the Oregon 400T and the screen does scratch... not any more than any other unit I have seen. I do not see it being a problem. I have a friend that has the Colorado and the roller keeps falling off. I think he has had the unit replaced and has had the same problems with the new one. I have not used it so I can't comment on it.
  7. Is there a way to keep it from overwriting the previous maps you have loaded? Does it add to the previous file with a new map or delete the previous one that was loaded? I loaded a map of Bermuda for an earlier trip I took this summer... then recently I loaded a map that outlines the States and Counties. I guess they are all in one file "gmapsuppimg". But on the Oregon I can still see each map to turn on or off. So instead of overwriting is appears to have added the other map to the file. Is that right? Should I be doing it differently?
  8. Can I ask why 490? Should I do the query as "I have not found" only? Should I not select "Active" to keep from missing some caches that come back on-line later?
  9. I am not sure the best way to do this for a large city. If you do 4 PQ's for each quadrant of a city how do you know that you got them all? The PQ's may or may not overlap... if they do you might have significantly less than 2000 total and leave home without some. What are your recommendations ???
  10. I am new to the 400T and am not sure how to set up these profiles that you mentioned. Can you run through a quick description of how to set them up and then how you switch at the cache?
  11. I have installed Google Earth 5.1 ande try to drag and drop the gpx file and it will not work? What am I doing wrong? Will this only work on a Mac?
  12. That is what I was looking for, that makes it much easier. Thanks
  13. Wow... I can't believe it does not switch by itself. That is a lot of wasted motion. I guess I will just leave it on "Off Road". That is too bad becasue I liked the way it got me to the cache along the streets.
  14. I don't know... I thought about that. I don't want to have to move the routing back and forth. That does not make sense.
  15. I was geocaching today and using the Routing Guidance "On Road for Time" feature. This worked great with my new City Navigator North America NT Map to get me by road to the cache. The problem seamed to be when I changed to the compass view to zero in on GZ... it would not show me where the cache was. It was pointing in other directions and the distance was way off. I then turned the guidance to "Off Road" and it worked like normal again. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there something I should be doing different?
  16. You have delete the entire PQ, you can't delete a "Single" cache from a PQ that I know of. It marks it as found and switches the graphic to a gold open treasure box. You can download the PQ again and as long it is marked to only give "Not Found" they will be gone.
  17. Just to make sure, did you calibrate the compass?
  18. Has anyone seen or used a car navigation/stereo in-dash system that can display geocaches? You would have to be able to upload the PQ's to them like a handheld GPS. It would be great to see them coming up as you drive around.
  19. Tofu, very nice review. I can't agree with you more. I have a Oregon 400t and love it. It is fast and very easy to use. You will not be dissapointed with the Oregon. I have not used the 60 but can't imagine anything better.
  20. Did you get the info from a PQ? If so just drag the GPX file that was emailed to you and drop it into the GPX folder on your Oregon. This is very easy on the Oregon to do. Most other GPS units will take other steps either in Mapsource or GSAK.
  21. I am not sure if anyone has done this before... I made this one today. Share the file or location of some good ones you have made or found.
  22. I need some help... can anyone tell me how much of a change in feet on the ground a corresponding change will be to each spot in the coordinate? For instance, if I change the .957 to .958 how much of a change in feet or inches is that? N 36 07.957
  23. Well... I am sure we I can't help the original person who asked the question but maybe some others that are wondering the same thing. First, as stated above your GPS will give you a map but depending on which one you have it probably is not very accurate. You can find many maps of Bermuda that can be downloaded to Map Source and then uploaded to the GPS which I have found to be very accurate. If you have have not been to Bermuda before you will not understand just how many roads and trails there are for such a small island. If you don't have a good map that shows them all you will spend a lot of time lost and wondering which road to take. A lot of the GC's are on old Railway Trails and probably will not show up on a standard map with your GPS. Do what you want, but I would suggest downloading additional maps before you go. For most people your time on the Island is limited so your time needs to be maximized. Second, I am the "Guy from Oklahoma" who placed the 10 cached around the Island. We have a family home there and someone is always there to check the caches for me when I can't. I appreciate your concern and the ability to maintain the caches properly is important to me.
