  1. Ten miles!!! Pooh! I have to drive at least 25 miles just to get to the toll gate on the most expensive bridge in England, just to get to half of those in my 25 mile radius.
  2. Oh go on! Just to make you feel better , how about 47 in the Great Grimsby Cache Desert
  3. Every posting has a time limit to allow for editing, after it has expired your words are there forever. Thats the way it is!
  4. You can create a list of waypoints in Easygps as it understands OSGB if you select it in the preferences. It is also free which is another good point. It is not called Easygps for nothing, even though it is for nothing.
  5. If you use Easygps which is free, you can set OSGB in your preferences and then under Tools click New Waypoint and fill in the boxes, to create waypoints that can then be uploaded to your GPSr. It realy is Easy Gps just as it says on the box.
  6. A problem I have with Firefox, though it may be the webpage or my settings. Is when looking at the maps on the Ordnance Survey Get a Map page, I dont get the the Buttons show up when I hover the mouse on the map image. Similar happens with IE7 Beta but IE6 is fine.
  7. I know how you feel, when I first experienced one of my caches being destroyed it was quite gut wrenching. It was such a horrible feeling when I saw the ammo box floating in a nearby pond. What made worse was when I tried to use a branch to recover it and it sank because the lid was open. I then waded fully clothed into the pond hoping I could recover everything but all I managed to get was the box which was empty, the rest was gone. Then I had to drive home soaking wet and angry.
  8. One that always makes me smile is "Thirtyfootscrew" who has done a few of my caches with his mum.
  9. My Highlight My Magellan GPSr has data supplied by NavTeq and it has directed me along an unmade road beside an allotment garden, completely ignored a local bypass which shows on the mapping, and often taken me off primary routes in favour of lesser roads. I do however, like The Forester, "still love GPS though!" It's like being married, sometimes its's better to stop listening to the nagging. Satnav VS Wife: SATNAV: Turn Left in 200 Yards SATNAV: Turn Left in 100 Yards SATNAV: Turn Left Now WIFE: ......... WIFE: ......... WIFE: YOU SHOULD HAVE TURNED LEFT THERE!
  10. Well not a spear, but this one looks like a nail driven well in.
  11. Yeah! Happy Birthday Eckington, have a cigar!
  12. I have just started using a Magellan Meridian GPS, and have downloaded Easy GPS. I can't send or receive waypoints because I keep getting the message "No data was received from the GPS" It must not be connected or configured correctly, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions? Have you set your GPS type in preferences? Strangely it is located under Edit, click settings button while there and set the correct baud rate too.
  13. Sim cards with free text messaging are easily obtainable, dont know if there is any bar on the number you can send in a day though. The only other drawback I can see is if the equipment to send the reply texts is locked to a particular phone company. You might have to buy a certain value in call credit to qualify but that may work cheaper than the cost of all the messages you send, eg 300 mesages at £0.05p is £15.00 if you can get normal text messages at that price.
  14. Many ISPs are at last begining to take notice of customer complaints about spam. If they are seeing a lot of traffic from one server they might be considering it spam mail and killing it. If you question them they will no doubt deny it. I understand quite a number of NTL users have suffered as such and got no satisfactory answer when contacting their ISP. Edit for speeling!
  15. Crikey Adrian - I did not think the Lincs geocachers would stoop so low as to cut your brake pipe to stop you getting to a FTF!!! Well it might have been SWMBO, but I think it really goes back to some work I had done for the MOT back in December. I had to have some brake pipes renewed and the leak is at the joint between the new pipe and the flexible hose to the rear brake cylinder. Oh well! if I cant get it fixed by the garage for free I suppose I will have to pay up. Sigh!
  16. Big frustration for me today. I was going to do a few caches today, but only got to the end of my drive when I discovered my brakes were not working . A bit of a look round revealed a leaking brake pipe, and I was unable to get it repaired today. To top it all I got soaked in the rain showers looking to see if I could fix it without calling in the profesionals.
  17. Nope cant see any sock puppets round here, but I thought I could smell Troll!
  18. Update: Lathama has now corrected the page so only one venue is listed, if he manages to keep it that way maybe some folks will be able to get there. Dont think I wiil though, student pub, lagers and creamflow, no food and city centre to boot.
  19. I dont know what is going on here, Lincs Cache Bash but have just looked into the cache page to pull up the the nearest caches, and the venue has been changed again. If you have already earmarked this event you might need to check again so you know where you are going.
  20. Looks like some folks round here need a humor transplant, perhaps they should consult their GPs first.
  21. How about this one, if i find a cache why should I have to email the owner with the answer to a question. Surely if I find it and sign the logbook it is a valid find and my log should stand. As far as my knowledge of the guidelines go I have done enough, in my opinion such a cache should not have been approved anyway.
  22. made even more boring by this DNF entry on the 29th January Oh well - other fish to fry ...... Well that one I went blind to, I had no cache printout or details and had not read the logs. All I had was the coords in my gps as I was doing a few caches a bit further away and noticed that one was about twenty minutes drive away. After logging my dnf (of which I am proud to declare) I read the logs and suspect I had looked in a much too obvious place. Ahh well! Maybe next time I am over that way.
  23. Not very good at all today, kept overshooting the hiding place and once enroute between caches lost it altogether even though it was showing at least six sats full strength. The display was about six miles behind me. Had to restart a couple of times today so maybe its time to give it a total reset and initialise again.
  24. I once suggested at one cache bash that a 'stupidity of cachers' was an appropriate collective noun.
