  1. Is 1. the clock tower in Siena, the 'Torre' something and 2. the Chamberlin Clock tower, Birmingham? A big DING to the LHM Yes, the inspiration for the design was the Palazzo Publico (Town Hall) in Sienna, and one of many other copies around the world is clock tower at Birmingham University.
  2. The country is correct but it is not Venice. To give a little clue lathama should know the answers.
  3. The accumulator type system replaced the simpler water storage system that was used in the Dock Tower which had a relatively short working life. A building that housed the accumulator was built adjacent to it about twenty or so years later.
  4. Correct, - the water provided hydraulic power to operate lockpit gates and dockside cranes. one Ding to Dorsetgal & GeoDog. Now we need to know the two where questions. The answer to Q.2 is not Legoland Windsor though there is a model in the park there.
  5. Staying in Lincolnshire as nothing interesting happens here anyway! The above picture is of the Grimsby Dock Tower. 1. Where can you see the building that inspired its design? 2. Where in Britain can you see a similar structure? 3. What was the purpose of the Grimsby Dock Tower?
  6. He's the Lincloln Imp, and his residence is Lincoln Cathedral.
  7. If there were any (heaven forbid) they would have to come in threes! Dang thats all my recent hard work down the pan then
  8. Seems like its a dog friendly pub so how about "Sir Chester requests your presence" Sorry I can't come myself I like a drop of Wadsworths!
  9. The Test is a river in Hampshire recognised in some quarters as the birthplace of fly fishing. Do I get the DING I'll start thinking of a question.
  10. There is no Humberside, but there is a Lincolnshire which includes unitary authorities of North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. Also the people of East Yorkshire would also be annoyed, as I am if any one should bring back that foul construct of Humberside which thankfully has been dead for more than ten years!
  11. For a clearer explanation, go to the top of this page and click My Controls, then on the left hand side click Board Settings. The time zone setting is at the top of that page.
  12. This one placed by a chum of mine, Piston Broke, never made it further than being placed in one of my caches. It was picked up by a someone who never did more than make an entry in the logbook.
  13. So the answer is simple, the caches were intended to be released in time for the nearby cache bash. Nothing mysterious or otherwise, but just a matter of the cache page being visible too soon. Thanks Eckington for your diligence in publishing them in good time, but be careful in future Oh by the way, sorry you were not there when I was, you missed the cake!
  14. Don't worry you can still download the important cords you need in the form of a < .loc > file, then to get you started go to the resources page on Geocaching and download and install Easygps to upload to your Magellan. I have done things this way for years and have had no problems, it's simple and it works!
  15. You might try this old posting Lanyard fix it is possibly what you need. aj. Dang the link is broken but you could email the OP.
  16. Hi Ness, I think I would go for the Etrex H and also get the serial cable offered in the sale too. If you really get into cache hunting you will find it invaluable later when downloading lots of caches to do. aj
  17. You are not alone, perhaps everyone is getting the same message.
  18. I did a few caches today, riding to the general area on my new pushbike. Now I'm sitting on a very large dinosaur. (You work it out, ouch!)
  19. Come on all you folks with birthdays in January, lets get ready for the bash!
  20. I am umm! er..... older than 21 on the 13th of January, I'll bring the cake.
  21. Hi all, sorry I wont be there this time round. Y'all have fun there now, and raise plenty of cash for the kids. aj
  22. This is how I do it, Hit MARK then use navigation arrows to move down to the co-ords. Hit ENTER, then using the arrow keys to change your co-ords. Up/down to change the numbers, left/right to select the field to edit. When finished hit enter and then navigate down to SAVE LMK and hit ENTER. Your new waypoint will be stored in the user landmarks list. All fields can be edited in this way, waypoint name, icon, co-ords and also a message to be attached to your new waypoint subject to a limit of 200 waypoints. After that further waypoints may be added up to 500 waypoints but only the first 200 can have a message. Hope that helps, for all its age the 315 is a great little GPS so dont throw it out.
  23. Without a doubt I would reccomend that you do Bonchurch Landslip GC4107, and reward yourself with a nice piece of homemade cake from the cafe at the top of the path. Also I would expect you to visit Godshill and from there you can exert yourself by doing the Lungbuster GCC93B, a good test of your fitness.
