  1. The eTrex line does not have a cs or csx. The vista is the term for the S models in the other lines. Not to confuse anyone the s in the other lines stands for sensors. Those models have an electronic compass and a barometric altimiter. The vista has these but the legend does not... FWIW, I'd get one with the color screen. I just recently got a Legend Cx which is color and has the exchangable microsd card for expandable memory. I had the older B/W Legend for a while and am much happier with the Cx. The color is nice and the reception is much better than the regular legend as well. I got mine from Amazon for $238 shipping included. If you plan on adding maps you won't be happy with the limited memory of the regular legend.
  2. What about programs that are not locked. I have the Garmin Topo, Mapsource, and National Parks programs. None of them required me to us any unlock codes. Before upgrading I want to be sure that I can still download whatever I need to the new 60CX without having to buy a new program and wanted to be sure Garmin didn't slip in some new locking 'features' to close down programs that I've been using and require me to purchase new ones. You are correct, there are no locking codes on those products and you should have no difficulty loading the topo or MG maps to your new receiver. As far as I know, only CitySelect, CityNavigator, and BlueCharts use lock codes. Does that mean you could buy a copy of us topo make a copy of the cd then sell the original and still have use of the software?? I'm sure it wouldn't be legal, I'm just curious.
  3. The title pretty much sums it up... I wan't to remove the software currently in use on my 76s and install it on my new legend cx. Can it be done?
  4. I'm using a Legend Cx, and the WAAS seems to be working fine... Even in the woods. I get the little D's consistently!!
  5. Just as an FYI for those of you shopping for a new unit I just picked up a new legend Cx for $238 from amazon. No tax and free shipping!! It says it comes with a 32meg card but mine came with a 64 meg card. I'm very happy with it. It seems to aquire faster that the old B&W legends and it's definitly better at holding a signal in dense cover than the old legend... I know it's a little out of your price range but you're getting a unit with more memory and easily expandable memory as well.
