Santa brought me a Jeep Wrangler so I can chase down the rough terrain caches.
Whoa, nice gift!
Santa brought me a pair of MicroSpikes, a Leatherman tool and a Road ID.
He also brought my son a Garmin 62s so he won't have to borrow dad's GPSr .

I can hear all those LPC haters out there are having a party.

If you think the website is fun you should try going out to find a few. That's even more fun.

My wife and I had just returned from a vacation in Utah and I was looking at properties on a few real estate sites. One of them advertized “Lot of Geocaching in Utah” with a link to geocaching.com. Two hours later I bought my first GPSr at Target and that afternoon I found my first two caches.

Would it have killed the CO to update the page with a maintenance logs such as "since nobody has found it, I am raising the difficult to 3...or 4)?
Now that the cache has been revealed, would you say it deserves a rating of 3 or 4. I would say 2.5 at the most. I initially thought it might be a three, but I don't think so.
The CO claims that the coords were verified, but unless someone has logged a find using those coordinates, how do we know if the coordinates are really accurate
The coords were proven to be right on the money.
It does turn out that the difficulty was actually a 5. It took special equipment called archiving for someone to find the cache.
Actually, no one has claimed to have found it and I don't think the coordinates can be proven to be "right on the money" until someone does.

West Hills is a nice area with plenty of caches, I like it better that the Massapequa Preserve - http://coord.info/GC2C3NT. If you hit the GW early enough it shouldn't take more than an hour to get there.
The further east you go the better it gets. Then again ticks and chiggers can be pretty bad out east this time of year. I'd steer clear of the Rocky Point area until the buggers are good and frozen.

Have you ever smelled skunk and dead animal looking for the same cache?
I Haven't, have you?

Does Groundspeak keep any backups of Geocache information???
The geocache database is essential to their business. Without it, all they'd have is a few tee shirts and hats. You can bet your last dollar they have backups!

I had the same problem. Deleting and downloading a fresh copy worked for me.

Try looking over here http://feedback.geocaching.com/geocaching
There's an iPhone section somewhere over there (I think).

1) after looking up nearby caches on the webpage i found there are many more near my house that the iphone app isnt showing me. is this because the intro app only shows "easy" ones?
That's correct, the intro version of the app only shows the easier caches. If I remember correctly, it will only show those with a difficulty/Terrain rating of 2/2 or less.

Congratulations on your first find. May it be the first of many and may you enjoy them all as much as you did this one.
The one you found was a micro which probably made it tougher to find than most. Try sticking to regular size caches until get the hang of things. Have fun out there!

That did the trick, thanks!

- No Geocaches Retuned
- - Exception of type 'Tucson.Common.InvalidQueryStringException' was thrown.
Seems to have started after todays update.

I suspect there is a much greater chance of getting crushed by a falling tree Lyme disease than of getting a lethal snake bite.
well folks, i'm gotten more comfortable solo bushwhacking these days. i've seen rattlers in the past but none this year. too bad i wasn't able to fight off the ticks though. just got diagnosed with Lyme disease this week. Damned little ticks ruin my "summer of george". Minimum three weeks of antibiotics here i come.
Good luck with that.

So does it matter if I find nothing if I have fun? Please answer
.~coldgears
No, it doesn't matter one little bit. But I think you already know that.

A thought comes to mind here that if caches can't be maintained properly, they should not be puut out.
True, but for whatever reason there are caches still out there that should have been removed. An emailed reminder to the CO could help here. Related
