  1. Browser and version are helpful when posting this sort of problem. My PC has windows Vista & whatever the most recent update for it is. Sorry Im not real savy with computer stuff. It comes up Windows Explorer on the top bar if that helps.
  2. I have had the same problems but still havent gotten it cleared up. However here is an addition glitch. Wondering if it is part of all of this mess. When I go to the home page & click GO next to home cords when it goes to the cache listed page it doesnt have the caches. It will sometime have the page numbers & I can click on next but often it doesnt have that & I have to go to the top of the page & click use google maps. Then just use the icons to click each cache. Than to top it all off today I did that & when it brought up the map there were no smiles/stars indication found/owned caches. What is with that? It is making me crazy!!!
  3. We have a great reviewer here in our area. There was a CO I contacted about a cache that she had removed for some maintenance then didnt replace it or write a note of her attention. She never responded. I posted a NM log on the page, she deleted it. Other cachers as posted NM or notes asking whats up with this cache, which were also deleted. After about 3 months I contacted the reviewer, explained the situation & that CO hadnt signed on in months now & the cache hadnt been replaced.. He contacted her & she told him she would replace it ASAP. (He emailed this info) After another 2 months still nothing. This was a prime location in an isolated restricted area that was hoping to place a cache for a multi state historical series. I contacted the reviewer again about archiving it. He finally agreed enough time had passed for the CO to tend to it or at least post up something. It was A & another cache was placed there for the series.
  4. This happens if you access the forums from an outside search such as Google. Wow, thanks. I havent been here in awhile & thought the site just changed the format. Wasnt real crazy about it & as I was checking on other things I missed since last visit I saw this. Great. I changed it back to standard. Much better. Another learning experience. MW
  5. I too have ok'd a cacher to change a DNF to a found if I see that the cache has gone missing. I normally check my caches after a couple of DNF's. In those cases the cachers have thanks but Ill just find it next time. I have had a few cachers log finds on caches that have indeed been missing & have been disabled because I had to replace them. I sent them a note telling them that the cache had been disabled for X amount of time & I think they made a mistake in logging a find & would they please correct there error. If they dont I delete it. Fortunately its only happened a few times.
  6. Although it would be nice that caches are placed in nice areas people will continue to place them in places that IMHO are unacceptable. Placing a cache in a rubbish dump area, even with the possible expectation that cachers will police it doesnt work. It is 1 thing to place a cache somewhere that as time passes gets normal trail trash but to place a cache, & I have come across this when I went to find some caches, that has been placed in an area that has tires, trash, broken glass, plus whatever else should be disposed of at a legitimate landfill is total lack of responsibility on the CO's part. I not only dont continue to look for that cache I dont haul out a truck load of rodent infested garbage. This isnt something that should need to be included in the requirements of placing a cache it should be COMMON SENSE.
  7. I grew up in Chicago so winter there is a bit colder than here in Md. Just like there arent REAL mountains on the east coast but we have to do the best with what we have. LOL Our winter event has been posted so if anyone is in the area come on out & join us. We'd love to have ya's drop by. Here is the link. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0d-b3459dfbd1c8
  8. I have 60 some caches that are all active. I visit them ALL on a regular basis or if someone notes there is a problem. Yes other cachers have at times replaced a log or wiped them down because they were moist etc but I am able to visit them in person regularly & do so. I carry a swag bag to replenish any that are a bit light on stuff & extra containers in the event they are getting beaten & need to be replaced. I dont know how many more I will place but as long as I am able to maintain them then I am not concerned about the total number I have out there. They are all good caches at great locations so to date all is well.
  9. I live in Md, on the Chesapeake Bay, across the Bay from Annapolis. I am hosting an event that has a bit of a twist. It will be a M&G with a camp over. It will be held on a wildlife preserve. The day will start at 1400 hrs for those that want to come out a bit before dark to set up their campsite for the night & to do a bit of daylight caching. At 1700 hrs will be the M&G, with chow of course, for everyone/anyone to come, regardless if they are staying for the camp over or not. Following the M&G folks will be able to do some night caching, again regardless if they are staying overnight. Around 2000 hrs we will lock the gates, for security reasons but folks can still get OUT after that if they arent staying the night. We will finish up with coffee, coco & some donuts from sunup til 0900, when the center opens again to the public. We will have use of the main pavilion which has picnic tables, bathrooms, is screened in, which we hope to drape with plastic to help control winds & a HUGE stone fireplace that will be manned & kept banked for anyone who wants to come in & warm up or have a cup of Joe or just hang out by the fireplace (no bonfires are allowed). OH did I mention that we will be doing this Feb 20, 2010? The feed back on doing this was good sooooooo.........we are giving it a try for those with a sense of adventure. I will have the event page up soon but if anyone has any questions please feel free to drop me a note & if you are in the area & want to join us come on out. It will be a blast. MW
  10. I dont know if it makes a difference once the reviewers get familiar with cachers or not but we have a reviewer here that the 1st several of my caches it took a day or so to post now I submit & they are up quickly. Yesterday I submitted 3 new caches (1 mico, 1 reg, 1 multi) & when I was back online about 3 hours later they were up. WOW great Job!
  11. I have found it at Wally world, hardware stores etc but as some have said it does degrade so now I keep several cans of spray paint in my work bag for camo jobs. I get them at walmart for about a buck a can. I like it alot better than tape. good luck. MW
  12. Where are my manners. I did get you email & no it didnt take nearly as long this I am trying to get all of my S*** together with this event Im sponsoring next month so I have set this aside for a few weeks. I will be asking some questions though & I appreciate the info. It will be a fun project for sure. thank you very much MW
  13. I finally have a caching buddie. My neighbor who has become my best friend. We will plan a day to go caching, pick a location then make our list of caches. There are many caches closer to home but we leave those for the 'I gotta get out of the house for awhile' days when we just jump in the car & go. So far we have had no problems as there are always caches somewhere to get. We have a day trip planned for thurs that will take us about an hour or so away but it will take us all day to get even just a fraction of the caches between here & there & back (by a different route). This trip will even take us into another state so its all good. MW
  14. I have places that are WM's but I nor anyone else has placed a cache there. I have checked a few of the places & it would be no problem to place an actual cache but rather than disturb the area I only wm'd it. Allows for people to visit that are interested in the location & not a cache. It has worked well for my needs. MW
  15. OMG I laughed & cried as I watched the video of the proposal in the woods. How very cool. Thanks for sharing this great shot. MW
  16. Oops sorry about the double post. I didnt do it on purpose. Fat fingers I guess or slow system. My bad.
  17. Is the area accessible to anyone? Yes the location is an environmental center open to the public every day but Christmas & NY's. They have joined with MAGC to place caches out there on the 500+ acres & to help introduce caching to the area. They are great folks. So When I saw this I thought it would be awesome if we could see about doing one out there. James! How the he** are ya dude? Keeping things safe I hope. Have missed you. Take care darlin' & come home soon yeah! Hugs to ta my friend..... Dalene

  19. do people return the tool to WP1? and does blowing this up reguire making mouth contact with the 'tool'? eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww
  20. I came across a strange cache near Springfield, Va, north of Roanoke on 81 at covered bridge. It is a virtual & unfortunately I have no photos but it was a take off on Stonehenge but the pillars were a foam of some kind. It was pretty cool. Merlin at Work?GCK31A
  21. I feel bad about the loss of a cacher because caching just isnt what it was for that person. I can understand getting tired of the caches that arent very good or thought out. I have been caching now for 2+ yrs & I still love it. Yes I have seen some lame caches but ya know what, I go on. I have days that I just want to quit so I do something else. I create a cache that is thought out & much time is spent to research the area where it will be placed. It will be full of history for those that like that aspect & some humor for the young at heart & then it will be placed where it will be a relatively easy find for those that dont like deep woodsy hunts. It will take folks past some of the prettiest areas in this part of the state along the Chesapeake Bay or 1 of the many rivers from the bay. It will offer a good chance of seeing some of the wildlife around the area & will have someplace close by to relax & just enjoy or use for a great photo shot. I will go to a M&G to be with some of the folks I have met while doing this & be reminded how much fun it was. I will search out some of the waymarks in an area I wouldnt have gone otherwise. I will share some of the crazy things that Ive done while out caching. It is all part of how I keep interested in caching. None of this lessens the sadness I feel for RockyRaab at the loss of joy he once had for caching. As for posting that he is done & the reasons why shouldnt be criticized or critiqued. It goes against the diversity of this entire sport. We all have our likes, dislikes & expectations & sharing them with others in this sport has always been part of the commoradity, or so I thought or this activity. Allow him to step away however he feels best lets him do so. Just a farewell & a wish for his journey would be appropriate. Often folks just have the need to vent. They dont want help, suggestions or criticism. They just want to let go of the frustration & to know that someone hears them. So if there are those who feel the need to make nasty remarks then direct them in my direction. I am sure I will get my share of boo's & hisses for my post here but thats ok.
  22. Thats the right site. Thanks so much. I tried calling the company but only got voice mail so I will try again in the morning plus send an email to see how you go about ordering 1. I didnt care for the reg garmin hard case. Thats great if you are packing for travel or in extreme cache areas but for the local caches that I look for I dont need a completely closed up case. I like the crunch proof skin for the basic bumping & banging. When I get a response I will post up here for others if they are interested. Thanks MW
  23. I just got a new Colorado 300. While browsing the different sites I saw a very cool case. It looked like it was made from the material you see in truck beds (rhino liner). I didnt mark where it was but I do remember it said it was available now. Something about it being like the government military protection whatever. Am I just dilusional or has anyone else see or heard anything about such an item? I have the hard case but it just doesnt work for me. Thought this would be better as it looked like a second skin of rhino liner material. Any ideas? MW
  24. I am hosting my 1st event (for Earth Day) & I'm wondering how I can get donated swag from Garmin & Magellan & who I would contact. Any help on this? Thanks MW
  25. Hi everyone, I just came across this thread & was blown away. I havent yet read all of the logs, which I know can be dangerous, however I have a few questions. I work with an organization & they just had 10 new benchmarks placed by NGS on their property. It is an environmental reserve. It would be great to place a marker by one of them with this GEOCACHE emblem set in it. Where does 1 get 1 of them? I have other questions but will wait to see if we can even get one of these. Tahnks so much. Mother Wolf
