  1. My latest log entry on-line said, "Quick drive by." ????????
  2. As a self employed Mr Handyman, I tend to go to work.
  3. A cache has been permanently archived in one of my dogs favorite spots for a run. I would like to put a cache close to the one archived, is this allowable? We are talking about 100 yards or so.
  4. www.n2yo.com? (edited to get the link to work!) You are a Gent and a Scholar
  5. Recently had a serious system crash and lost all of my favorite websites including one that allowed me to click on various satellite links to see what they were seeing. Can anyone direct me back to it, pretty please?
  6. Said: The coords were well out. Meant: I forgot my GPS!
  7. Does your GPS allow you to do an average? I often let it run while I hide the Cache, ofter to a hundred averages or more.
  8. a possible reason for the curt reply. Glad you aree that it was curt.
  9. I sympathise. However, experience has taught me that that right or wrong, those who agree with you keep silent and those who agree with you but like to back the mod (even when wrong) will slap you down. Not saying Mr Mod was wrong on this occasion, not saying he was right either, but expect no sympathy from the vocal BNs! Edited spelling...
  10. I picked up a TB today and as have not been Caching for long, long time I have forgotten how to log the pickup. Anyone care to remind me? Ignore, I worked it out.
  11. I have neither set or looked for a cache for some time due to ill health, I am now ready to do both. I have 5 caches (small Lock and Lock boxes) to put out and a few to look for, can anyone suggest a place to locate (Lake District National Park) them that does not require any (steep) uphill walking? Could they be put around Loweswater or Wastwater for example?
  12. I once thought about doing the London Marathon, after a 15 sleep the thought went away, thankfully.
  13. I put out a cache yesterday and another today, this evening I received this I see you've just put out a new cache very near our latest one at the bottom of Whoap and another in the vicinity of Matty Benn's Bridge. You're probably not aware that we've run into a problem with the National Trust. We were allowed to place ours subject to the following from the Buttermere and Ennerdale office "I have discussed your request with our Warden, and I'm afraid we cannot permit any further locations for the time being, as the volume of requests received by the Trust Nationally is becoming an issue which needs to be reviewed." I've passed this over to the geocaching volunteer reviewers and GAGB due to the national implications and it is currently being progressed by Dave Edwards of GAGB. If you've got permission I apologise for poking my nose in. If not, please would you think carefully about the situation before we end up getting a blanket ban on NT land - it's bad enough with the Forestry Commission issues around here. Can't put them on Forestry land (without paying £50 into their I might have to do a bit of work fund) and now i CAN'T USE National Trust land, so where in the Lake District can I put them? Should I now archive and retrieve these caches?
  14. Not wanting to be a damp squid, but if arranging events for children, would the adult leaders not need to have been vetted by the police? Just a thought . But might be worth considering. Think the idea is that the parents will be there and organising the event. Lets not go over the top! Not wanting to go over the top at all, but was there not a suggestion that the bigger kids could go away and discuss Tupperware? It is a shame that we should need to consider the need to think about the implications, but I think it worth making some enquiries, I may well have got it wrong and I hope I did but...

  16. So, once a cache is archived, I can place my own cache in exactly the same place and CITO the archived one, or am I missing something?
  17. Get yourself a GPS. Sorry, could not resist.
  18. Would love to attend as this would be my first event, however, as an oldy with dodgy legs, what sort of walk height are we looking at?
  19. Rough it all over with a medium sandpaper and then spray, I don't leave a window as the paint takes so well to the roughed up plastic I can glue the my label onto the paint without a problem.
  20. Oh dear, plastic boxes will never be the same. The next Tupperware box you see will not have you thinking how many sandwiches can I get in that, you will think of it a cache container, what you can get in it and where can I bury it.
  21. Bad analogy, the topic is about what happens in caching, not life in general.
