  1. A couple of weeks ago the belt clip for my Garmin 60csx snapped after getting snagged on a branch. I was bummed because I use it all the time and find it very handy to click the GPS back onto my belt when I need my hands free (usually to open a cache). After searching online I found that new clips cost around $10 plus shipping. While my girl was dragging me around the discount store yesterday I found a whole rack of these cell phone clips for cheap. They were all the same and looked exactly like the 60csx clip so I got one and tried it out. Amazingly it worked perfectly and now I have a new clip. Great! So I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem. If there is interest out there then I'll just go buy the whole rack from the discount store and send em out to you guys for $5 a piece plus shipping. Not sure how much shipping would be, but they are pretty small. The clip doesn't include the the nubby piece that screws into the GPS. Let me know. -Thanks

  3. Though geocaching is my favorite hobby I have always tried to spend as little money on it as possible. My only exception is when it comes to supporting Groundspeak and the geocaching.com website. I was happy to fork over the annual premium membership fee because I knew that it would go right to supporting the company. There are many places where you can buy or even make your own doodads like stickers, shirts, containers, and trackables. Does purchasing items directly from Shop Groundspeak help support the company (in some small way) or are they using some swag vendor just to get their logo out there? On that note are there any other things that may not be so obvious that we can do to support the site aside from sending cash and doing what we do best...finding caches? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks NightPilot. I loaded up cachenav and cachemate but unfortunately I am getting the exact same results. The GPSlim 236 is shipped without WAAS enabled and I ran through the process of turning it on. I wonder if that may be the problem because it’s hard to tell if it is actually enabled or not. Also since purchasing the unit I have come across a lot of posts with negative comments about the GPSlim 236. I think I’m gonna have to spring for a different bluetooth gps unit just to test my setup. What would help me the most at this point is feedback on if I should be seeing comparable accuracy with the PalmE2+GPSlim236+GeoNiche combo as I do with the eXplorist 400.
  5. After using an eXplorist 400 which leads me right on top of the cache just about every time, I have recently switched to a PalmE2+GPSlim236+GeoNiche. After using this combo during a few outings under different conditions I have found it nearly impossible to use when standing within 50 feet of a cache. It works great when driving but when I get close to the cache my needle spins everywhere except in the right direction and distance to waypoint jumps around +-50'. This makes the cache difficult to pinpoint so I end up busting out my eXplorist to get the fine direction. My problem, and the reason that I seek advice from this post, is that I don’t know which direction to take to troubleshoot this, here is what I was thinking: 1. GPSlim 236 is crappy, get another bluetooth GPS receiver. (which one) 2. Do something to tune GeoNiche, maybe switch to cachemate and cachenav. 3. That’s as good as it gets with a palm and bluetooth gps. Finally buy a 60csx. -Thanks in advance
