  1. Our "team" consists of myself (19) and my brothers (16 and 13). Robert (TeamCypherX)
  2. If you can pick up #31 your unit is compatible. 31 was the first IIR-M sat to be launched on Sep 26th of 2005. As for the M-code, don't count on ever being able to pick that up with a civilian GPSr, even though I don't think it's any more "accurate" than the current civilian signal.
  3. The steps for resetting the almanac on the 60CSx and Quest are to hold the "out" button while turning the unit on. It doesn't ever ask you to confirm anything but will clear the sat list. After you clear you have to let it sit with a good view of the sky for about 20 minutes or more. Robert
  4. I think it would be cool if the maps would download automatically off the satellites like I used to think they did ;-)
  5. I finally got some information from Garmin on the 2.80 update. They said that there is a 2.80 update that they are still bug testing upgrade wise. The rep told me that they typically put the new software on production units before the update is available. I wasn't able to get any information on the bug fixes/features. I did ask though if the new production units have any different hardware that may be causing the update to be delayed (such as the new SIRF III chip that uses less power) and he assured me that the 60CSX hasn't received any hardware modifications and that it is only a matter of time before I could get the 2.80 update. On a side note, I also found out how to clear the almanac on the 60CSX. Hold the OUT button as you power the unit on. It will clear and then place outside for at least 20 minutes as it downloads the new info from the sats Robert (Team CypherX)
  6. I sure hope they didn't change the hardware or anything. I love my 60Csx and I would hate to feel like I rushed and bought a version with buggy hardware or something.
  7. The Quest does work for Geocaching, although it's not the best at it. You can enter coords by holding OK until it saves a point and then editing the coords. I used my Quest for caching before I bought a 60C and it worked, but if you want a good, multipurpose GPS, I suggest getting something like the Vista Cx, 60C(S)x or something that can be used for auto nav. and caching.
  8. Wow, Sat 31 went operational really fast (only a couple weeks after launch). The new WAAS birds have been in testing for months, although they do need to be highly accurate for aviation. I guess we don't need such accurate sats to drop bombs or anything, so it would be silly to waste our time fine tuning the system I started picking up 31 last night, and for my area it's overhead about 6am-noon, then it disappears. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Robert (Team CypherX)
