  1. Yah! Someone gets it. Oh wait, you are in Canada. It's those guys down South. ;-)
  2. Again I'll voice my opinion. I'll place in my cache whatever I want to. It's my cache, if you don't like what's in it, don't do it. Simple. If someone finds something in it and does something irresponsible / dumb with whatever it is then they are the moron. And this does not mean I put anything in the cache that shouldn't be there (or shouldn't be there according to "you" or the "rules"). I'm just saying it's my cache and I'll do with it what I like. I get fed up with the attitude of liability all the time. Why don't people use their own brains for a change instead of wanting others to do all the thinking for them?! It's a game! This argument is pathetic. The rule is pathetic. Put whatever you want in YOUR cache. If I get a warning for this, big deal. It's a game people. Lighten up and use your own common sense. Heck, here in Vancouver we even have caches near (very very close) to nudist beaches. Something wrong with that too? No one is forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Kids can find many things. I doubt they'll find a cache all alone on top of a mountain. Get a life. Get real! RobertM Geo 17, 25, 27, 35, 39E-LMX, 40A-LN, 65, 104, 109, 114, 133, 134
  3. Any "med"ication in that back-pack? ;-) You never know if someone forgot theirs.
  4. You gotta be kidding! Yeah, what next? As cache owners I feel we can put what we like in caches, even make Adult oriented type caches if we want. If the cache description clearly states what's what with the cache then what's the problem. The Geocaching.com website is ONLY a cache listing site. Geocaching.com as a listing site I don't believe should be making the rules of what I can place in my cache. But maybe that's THEIR rules for getting the cache listed on THEIR site. But I don't agree with it. Next we'll have them telling us we may only use blunt pencils because pens and sharp pencils could be considered a danger, blah blah. I think it all comes down to Geocaching.com trying to get away from the liability issues. Some weird things seem to happen in North America! Spill coffee, will sue. ;-)
  5. Forum Wars. Sounds like Star Wars. That was a trilogy, what's this?

    Spacemen?

To leave the space blank where the probe was? RobertM Geo 40E-J, 39E-X, 104
  7. So who's got 65 and who's on 113? Which period are we in here? Groundspeak is on a powerplay as some guys have been sent to the penalty box. 2 minutes sure takes a long time to go by in Geoland. ;-) Oh look, the score changed again. RobertM Geo 39E-MX 101/113
  8. So has anyone figured it out yet? I've just jumped on and started using the random numbers too. Anyone tried code Geo 69 yet? RobertM Geo 65 113
  9. Who's organizing a Christmas party? ;-) Seriously. I think IF a local group is required it should be local. As I've mentioned before, we don't need one here on the West Coast, so why make a Canadian one? But if you need one in Ontario then by all means I have no problem with that. Also it depends on where the people of from. Could be South Ontario Geocaching Society / Association. Gotta be careful on the acronym, you could easily end up with SOGGY. lol. ;-)
  10. Hi Canadazuuk, Have you changed jobs? Do you work near Annacis Island? Regards, RobertM
  11. Go fish. No fish on the menu today. I think we're steering more towards chicken -- or something like it. ***** Geo 133 54 121 114 How about Frogs legs? Geo 39C-M
  12. Uh-oh! You don't happen to be from Colorado by any chance? ;-) RobertM Geo 39F-X
  13. Conspiracy theory? What conspiracy theory? You sound a bit paranoid. RobertM Geo 40E J, 126
  14. We don't have any problems here on the West Coast. RobertM Geo 25

    Is It Just Me

I forgot to mention. An alternative to BC Ferries is the new (or not so new anymore) Harbour Lynx. Their website is www.harbourlynx.com. They run a shuttle service (if you can call it that) from downtown Vancouver to Nanaimo a few times a day. They leave from the SeaBus terminal downtown Vancouver. RobertM Geo 105

    Is It Just Me

Greetings Geochamp, Long time no e-mail buddy. I trust you are well. I unfortunately haven't been in the forums for a while so did not see your original post. Mind posting it again for us to see that did not see it the first time? Keep well, RobertM Geo 39D C, 39F MX

    Altimeters

Hey ZoomZoom, What type of accuracy do you need that the built-in altimeter is not good enough? I'd have thought the built-in altimeter (not a calculated altitude from satellites) would be good enough, as it is a real altimeter. I'd think a wrist watch would be worse. RobertM Geo 25 65
  18. I heard a rumor that Lapaglia and the moderator you refer to are the same person. ***** Geo 116 Thats no rumor. Its the truth. Isn't it interesting that all 3 people are all from Colorado. Now that's not a rumour either. RobertM Geo 8, 39C LMNUX, 101
  19. Hi Mr.Peabody, You could always use topo maps a compass, etc. I've heard a number of guys have used this method when their GPSes are in for repairs or they are new and haven't got one yet. Regards, Robert Geo 15 21, 25 32, 94MN
  20. Sounds like fun! My sister will be visiting from South Africa over the 2 week period from December 23 to January 7. She can see for herself what all this "geocaching" is all about. RobertM
  21. Should we start a new topic to discuss the group event to Blood Beach, Spy Glass and possibly even Admiralty Point? What date did were you guys looking at for this? Start in the early morning at say 9am one Saturday or Sunday? RobertM
  22. Not sure if Alsid Prime mentioned it here in the forums, but his GPSr is a Meridian Gold. Since my GPSr experience is limited to my Etrex, I have no idea how to change the datum on his unit. Hopefully somebody here knows this unit. SylvrStorm Hi AlsidPrime, I'm sure if you ask the question on how to change your Datum in one of the more specific GPS forums someone will be able to help. I think GPS Units and Software might be useful. There are also a couple of cachers in Canada that use the same GPS as you. I'm however not able to help as I have 2 Garmins. Alternatively the manual. Or the Magellan website perhaps? Take care, Robert
  23. Wow, I was to be paging through caches I have not done and found one called Southlands 2 (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=e606c88b-b0dc-4ef0-bc77-5a5743624c0e). The page contained a link describing the containers this cacher users. From that page he had a link to his Geocaching home page (http://www.geckobeach.com/GPS/default.htm). I was totally blown away by the number of caches this cacher has placed. Not only that but in the places he has placed them. And they all look like VERY good caches! This is totally amazing. Imagine doing them all? Does anyone else know of someone similar to this? It sure makes for some interesting reading! Take care, RobertM
  24. Good idea. Added a "From" on mine too.
