I like the idea of a Canadian/American coin, but I already have a different one, and the Canadian side is not as much what I'd like to represent Canada ... eg. the auroraborealis is not as good as it could be. Another symbol would have been better. Nice coin anyway though, and just so you know I've only bought 7 coins ever. If I bought a coin a month, this would be one of them.

You need permission to use the GC logo. You could use the generic 'G' logo, or just not use the logo on that side. I kinda understand tho'. Wiping with GC logo... ? Maybe something else on the individual sheets?

That's a cool idea, and I may do one or two of those. But I still enjoy finding coins in caches, and think I'll do most of my coins that way.

That's strange, as this is not really an inappropriate coin. It goes in the bag along with the swiss army knife [coin], the GPS [coin], map [coin], the Yemon Yime coin (for good luck), etc. If they approved a coin of a potential weapon, I don't know why they wouldn't approve a coin of toilet paper... Is it potty talk? I would suggest that you ask your mint to contact Bryan, and ask what aspect of the coin they object to. If it's the wording, fine. The logo, fine. The whole coin.... I don't get it, but fine.

I think it would have been cool to make 10 decks of cards, and people would trade them with eachotehr. Then whoever had the highest hands at the end could get an LE or something like that.

I think that if memory serves right, Dorkfish had #1-5 (not sure about five), and auctioned them for GSA approved causes. #7 is with Raine from Groundspeak. Reading thru the GSA thread will help fill in some of the gaps.

And that is exactly why fake/copy coins should not be tolerated. As long as people think it's OK to circulate coin photos and poker chips with tracking numbers on them, coin thieves have an advantage... they can steal a coin, replace it with a paper copy and people down the line will think that the coin owner just wanted it that way. Better to not circulate a coin at all then send out a copy, IMO. Good point. Never heard of/seen duplicate coins of any type.

Woah, just noticed all of the posts. Originally I was thinking of doing a 2D circular/ovular coin. I was also thinking of making some writing in English, but in a font that looks like the Elvish writing on the coin. There would be less blank space in the middle, just enough to put the tracking # on. Make the gold part the metal type (so only brass colours). I haven't started any art, or drafting, just putting the idea out there. Any ideas for the 2nd side? Or make both sides pretty much the same, with writing dif.s? All input appreciated. GT

They jumped before I was collecting... But it's still continuing to get less and less GC related. Personally my geocoin budget is way down there [points], so I don't buy more than the few that interest me. These don't always have to do with geocaching. Persoanals, organization, and country/state/province coins interest me most. But there are still some good coins coming out. Crake's symbology for instance (man I've gotta get one of those).
