  1. Thank you New Jersey TJ! You put things in such a way that I understand it. The number of gpx files makes sense to me now.
  2. With the GPS connected to the computer, go to the GPS drive and delete the .gpx files in \Garmin\gpx. This will remove all caches from your GPS.You should now be able to load caches to the unit. You said you couldn't load ANY new caches. What sort of error message are you getting, if any?At this point, I think I'd just create a PQ from the bookmark page. There is a link to do that next to the bookmark. On the PQ screen, tick mark today. The PQ will be emailed to you. Open the .zip file containing the .gpx files and copy them (the .gpx files) to the aforementioned \garmin\gpx directory. Thanks for everyone's help. I got it done! I followed New Jersey TJ's step by step instructions and deleted all gpx files. Then was able to add the new caches and this time it took. I wasn't getting any error messages so not sure what was happening. I hadn't heard about the max of 200 of "send to unit" caches that cachoholic mentioned. That is probably what was causing the problem. But hubby is on the way to Canada with the Oregon 400T loaded with his geocaches of choice everyone here in the arrowhead of Minnesota is happy tonight! After years of driving the IT people at work nuts you would think I would know that I should just stay away from new technology. Most of the time the IT people would mark my IT work request complete with the acronym P.I.C.N.I.C. (Problem in chair, not in computer.) Thanks again for all the suggestions.
  3. I have done that. The caches I want to see are 125 miles away. I can see the old caches that are between 40 and 1500 miles away so those new ones should be in between. I can also see them by name and they aren't there in that sorting either. I have tried downloading a cache a mile away and I can't load ANY new caches. And the unit is not too full. I have tried everything I know to do.......
  4. Thanks for the replies but still not what I need. I don't know how to "drop" a pocket query into the unit. The one at a time thing was working fine for me and now it is not. I have sorted them both by name and by distance and they don't show up at all. Thought maybe it would have magically fixed itself overnight. No go...still doesn't work. I am a dead woman.....
  5. One other thing. I was able to send them all to the Nuvi just fine.
  6. I am soooo in trouble. My husband is taking off in the morning for a trip into Canada and is expecting the bookmark list he made up for the trip to be loaded into my Oregon. (His Magellan is history.) I have been raving about how I love the Oregon but now all of a sudden I can't get it to show the geocaches. I haven't figured out how to do a pocket query so I have just been using the "send to my gps" option on the cache page. It has been working fine for me that way for over a year. Today I used it to find a couple of caches and added some multi-stages as waypoints in the field. Everything fine. Now tonight I have been working with the thing for hours and nothing. The computer can find the unit. It shows that the cache info has been writen to the unit. And if I try to load it again it says it has already been loaded. But none of the caches show up on the unit as normal. I thought maybe it was cuz the caches were in Canada and the maps didn't go that far north. (The caches I am trying to load are just north of the Minnesota border into Canada towards Thunder Bay.) So I tried to load some caches around Duluth into it and the same thing...nothing. I deleted all waypoints. I cleared all tracks. It is nowhere near even 500 caches already in there including the found ones. I tried to do the factory reset and the old caches are still in there. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM DOING!!!! HELP! PLEASE!!!!
  7. Thanks, Zork V! I will check it out.
  8. Sometime last fall I stumbled across a website or a software download site where you could log multiple trackables at a time. I have changed computers since then and no longer have any bookmarks directing me to the site. I have searched the forums but have come up empty. Does anyone know what I am talking about? If so, can you help me find it again?
  9. Just now reading up on this collectible/noncollectible option. My worry is that if I mark something collectible that someone might think that means it is theirs to keep and put in their own collection. That is the first way I thought of it anyway. I am confused. But then that is a constant state of mind for me....
  10. The logs for the TB's are not coming out in the same order as the caches. I dipped my coin into three on Saturday and the coin's logs are in the opposite order of the caches the were dipped into. The map matches this backwards order. That is the same thing that is happening to me. (I promise...I will only click once on the "add reply" icon this time.)
  11. Darn....I have got to quit clicking just because nothing is happening.....

  13. Anything new on this? Tried to log my personal TB in the caches we found on a recent geocaching trip and things are still backward as described above. Searched for the answer here on the forums and it appears that others are having the same problem I am having. Is there an ETA of when it might be fixed? I want to log my finds!

  16. Just sent an email for 12 of them. This is how I look after looking at and entering all those tracking numbers!
  17. I wish there was a spell check option on the log page. I usually end up typing up a longer log in my MS Word, check the spelling, and then copy and paste it to the log page. (This also helps when my server and/or geocaching.com hiccups and I loose my log.
  18. I am running into the same thing while logging our finds on our two-week camping trip. Groundspeak: PLEASE fix this!!!!
  19. We are located in Southern Minnesota. Would be glad to help you out. Just let us know!
  20. The wood ticks are out and about in Minnesota too. Last Saturday at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park we picked up two deer ticks and two wood ticks. Then, on Wednesday there is another wood tick crawling across my kitchen counter! We have been lucky enough so far to find them before they have drilled into us. I have often wondered if you did have one stuck on you if you took a small vial of alcohol and held it against the skin with the tick in the alcohol if it would kill the tick and it would release its hold and not stay stuck in the skin. Would the alcohol also kill it fast enough that it wouldn't stress it too much so it didn't inject any additional fluids or spit into the blood stream? Any thoughts? Any guinea pigs?

    New MN Cacher

Welcome to geocaching! Just catching up on reading some of the forums and ran across yours today. Did a little search to see which part of Minnesota you might be in and I saw a comment in one of your logs that indicated that you go to VCC. Lots of good people are part of that fellowship. My folks went there for many years until a recent move to New Ulm. Hope you enjoy geocaching. It is a great family hobby. It also is something fun you and your 2 year-old can do while mom and the new baby are taking a nap. Make sure you check out the Lakeville Bug Drop when your little one is along. It is a fun little cache right near the McStop on I-35 that always has a travel bug or a coin to move along and also usually has some kid-friendly swag available. It is a fun container that a two year-old might enjoy. If you have any questions the forums and the Minnesota Geocaching Association are a great resource or also feel free to contact us "oldies". We have been geocaching for almost 1/17 of our lives...so that will tell you that we have been around for a bit! All the best to you and your family and the new little "geo-baby" on the way. Enjoy these years...little ones grow up way too fast. (My baby is older than you are!) Dena of dlgps
  22. This one was in a recent email joke. We didn't see it in person but last year when we combined a visit to relatives in Florida and some geocaching we were wondering what kinds of terrain and difficulties we might run into!
  23. This sign is way up north in Northwestern Minnesota near Hayes Lake State Park.
  24. And don't forget the delicious pork meat in a foil packet called Spam Singles. It is very moist and smells delicious when browned in a pan over heat. It can also be used fresh out of the package in sandwiches or on crackers. I'm not sure how widely distributed it is, but we have it here in Minnesota in grocery stores. DLGPS Faribault MN
  25. and in case you're not aware you can get a GPX file with all your finds in a pocket query on the My Pocket Queries page. Look for the "My Finds" section towards the bottom of the page. I was just looking at this the other day and saw the "My Find" option. But aren't you limited to 500 caches in a Pocket Query? We have over 725 finds and when I tried the PQ it defaulted to just 500.
