  1. I've just purchased a Sony SL10 Clie' I would like a copy of the handout as well.
  2. Alas, my tenth post, I should now be a cacher and changed my avitar at the same time. Woo Hoo
  3. I'm glad I reveiwed these posts. I will definately have to pay more attention the next time I'm out. This has also given me some ideas to present to the kids for our own cache hide.
  4. As I cruzed through the posts, I saw Active Duty Navy represented. I saw full time Army Guard. Then the AF contractor at E-Ring, and finally Active Duty Air Force! Myself, currently, Active Duty Air Force!!! Woo Hoo! I load what Ammoman builds onto the B-1! At least for another 3 months, then I'll be starting a new career. This one lasted over 23 years and I'm ready for something new. I'm heading for Washington State...maybe Groundspeak/geocaching.com has something for me? Could I load cache boxes with swag? you ask. How 'bout Boeing? Maybe I could load caches on their planes? I ready!
  5. Google Earth with the Geocaching KML file download is the way to go. I just planned a trip from Texas to the Grand Canyon, Tucson and back. I was able to make the directions query in GE, zoomed in on the route, and as I flew the route, the Cache icons would appear. I cut the time searching for caches by at least 75%. It does take some of the suspense out. Give it a try and see how it goes.
  6. Still just a Tadpole, must post! Number 6. Seems like a good place to make a simple post and increase my status. The link posted by Prime Suspect says it all. Good Luck and Good Posting!
  7. As I see the "Tadpole" under my avitar, I must post. This will be number 5. I see a lot of good ideas here and will use this advise. I've seen in another threads for Sig items, those are the things that really catch my interest, escpecial the hand-made items. For the most part, put the things that you would like to find. You won't please every body, but if you like it, there is bound to be others that are of the same mind. As I've seen throughout the Forums, you can't go wrong for trading-up. Myself, I'm still working on a good sig item. I liked the rocks that are painted like frogs. My son is really into frogs and would love to find one to put in his iguana tank. I also saw a hand-made leather key chain with GC.com logo. Anything that is assiciated with hiking/camping is always a plus. The two earlier post have great ideas. Good luck and good hunting!
  8. Yup, finially made the cross-over, from chump to geek.
  9. Nope, didn't work. Try try again.
  10. Yes, test test. it seems I made a post in another forum and mine didn't update.
  11. I used Buxley's Geocaching Waypoints a year ago or so and found it to be "The Heat"! It made it easy to plan out my geocaching adventure and to get a better lay of the land as to where the caches were located in conjuction to the house. As of the begining of this year, GC.com caches are no longer posted on that web site. I have since stumbled across GE. I do agree to some point that it makes it too easy to find the cache and may take the fun out of it for some, but myself, I think having a mapping system such as GE or Buxley's to help "visualize" the area and location I want to go, is just awesome. (I just don't zoom in too close to maintain some of the mystery). I am in the process of planning a trip to the Grand Canyon and have decided it made the difference between doing some Caching along the way vs. not doing any at all. I'm sure that I spent a quarter of time looking for caches along the route, than if I had done it the traditional way of zip codes through the GC.com main page. I just started using GE and have plenty to learn of it's other capabilities. I'm looking forward to learning and have to agree, at least for me, it goes hand-in-hand with Geacaching as much as a GPS unit. When I decide it takes too much of the mystery out of it, I'll go back to the old way.
