  1. In addition to the the above, Amazon, Cache Advance, and a Google search for soda preforms will turn up other sites.
  2. missed a couple #51 - GC3CGV4 - Need to keep an eye on this one #58 - GC2PHND - Has a NM, one note on missing and 3 DNF's
  3. The data file is now on my website. I updated the macro to start on the current database so you don't have to select the database from the dropdown list.
  4. Bookmark is posted. #5 - GC45MJP - Last four DNF. The newbie find log doesn't make sense, I think it is a DNF. #10 - GC58VPH - Last three DNF. Might be there, might not. #14 - GC2NZ7P - Last eight were DNF. The one recent find was a mis-dated delayed log. #18 - GC4MDVG - Last four DNF. #21 - GC4ZW0N - Last three DNF. #36 - GC1T7CM - Last five DNF. #59 - GC2PHND - Last four DNF. #60 - GC2N5J1 - Last two DNF, but it is an ammo can so might be gone. #63 - GC1V940 - Need to keep an eye on this one. #83 - GC1ATZ0 - Last three DNF all with comments on homeless camp. #121 - GC1MVJM - Archived.
  5. Western Washington does not have poisonous snakes, same for northwestern Oregon. We do have grass snakes and they will scare the bejesus out of you as you as they beat a hasty retreat. As long as your not between the food source or the clubs, about all you see of black bears is the south end of a north bound bear. Making noise helps keep them at bay. I would worry more about cougars than bears and mostly I don't worry about cougars. Bear attacks are not common and cougar attacks even less common. I guess you could hike to Hembre Ridge, but it would be a pretty long hike. It really is a park and grab, not a hike. GC16 was a nice hike, I have not done GC12 or GC17 and those I would worry about snow until at least end of May or early June and even then you might see some snow going to GC17. Same with GCD, but I might be wrong on that one.
  6. Greasemonkey script Waypoint Finder on both my desktop (FF 35.0.1) and my laptop (FF 33.1.1) stopped working since the site update. Anyone else having problems? Any fix?
  7. Load the caches into GSAK and use the usersort column to put them into the order you what. Usersort is a better choice than user data because usersort is numerical but userdata is alphanumerical, i.e. the order will be 1,10,11, etc. When you load the caches you can do something like %usersort-%name in the name field to pre-pend the sequence number. But on Garmins, at least, they will always be shown by nearest regardless of tne number in front. You can edit the bookmark list, but that will not affect a PQ or any load from the website.
  8. Go to your personal profile page, there is a link near the upper right.
  9. No discrepancy. The state is an editable field on the submission form. The state could be listed as New York and that is what will come up on the listing. Both the map and project-gc use the coordinates of the cache to show the cache location. You could ask the CO to update his listing but probably won't happen. You could send a request to the frog and ask that the listing be corrected. Might happen. Or if you can track down a reviewer for the area you could ask the reviewer. I had one like that once. The reviewer eventually corrected the listing.
  10. I first saw the announcement here in the forums. I have the tips&tricks ticked on my profile but did not get an email.
  11. That's were I'm at. Nothing wrong with lonely caches, some folks like finding them. But if you can include them in the new series, do so by all means.
  12. If a NA is logged for bounced emails, it is enough to archive a virt or webcam. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#grandfatheredtypes If you currently own a virtual or webcam cache, you must maintain the cache listing and logs, respond to inquiries from cachers, and must check the physical location periodically. Abandoned caches will likely be archived by Groundspeak. Grandfathered caches will not be unarchived. Yeah, it was just my opinion. I could probably quickly locate 50 virts with nonresponsive owners, but they don't need to go away anytime soon either. There is a difference between a non-responsive owner and one that is absent or one with a disabled email. When I send the answers for a virtual I don't expect a reply unless my answer is wrong and I'm being told I can't log. But occasionally I get a chatty reply from the CO.
  13. I think Rambudo's post points to a problem with the do not enter. If someone down loads a PQ of the area and not from my bookmark and they use the next button they are likely going to end up doing the cache. Especially if they don't down load the map and see the do not enter list and icons. And even if they do Rambudo's post does point to the problem of S&T covering the icon with the stop number flag. Of course they could put an ignore on the do not enter cache before the generate the PQ and those caches will not be in the PQ. And then there is that percentage that feel any cache is fair game regardless of the CO's wishes. This is an example of that attitude There were four other logs from the cache machine that day. You could try posting the do not enter list in the forum and on the event page. You could ask that those that download an area PQ to use the ignore feature to exclude the do not enter caches. You could publish a list of shame in the forum listing the cache machine participants that ignored the wishes of the CO. And then there are some that simply do not care. Probably the best bet is for the CO to disable the cache, post a note on the cache page that any logs during the time the cache is disabled will be deleted, remove the cache and put a sign in the vicinity of the cache stating the cache gone so just move along.
  14. Generally the smiley does indicate a joke.
  15. <snip> I've thought about it a bit. First off if a random cacher does the cache and is not participating in the cache machine I'm hoping the CO will not blame that on the cache machine. Of the three cases you mentioned they apply to the random cacher as well to cache machine participants. But, of course, the traveling hoard can put a lot more wear and tear on a cache than a year's worth of random cachers. Perhaps one thing that might help, and it will be a pain, is if you clean the non-cache machine caches off the maps. With the non cache machine caches showing and temptingly close to the route it probably does encourage some to "expand" the list. You will also need to remove the don't enter caches from the map, but still maintain the list. At least now there has to be a level of work done to find and include the nearby caches. Of course you could always threaten to delete any attended logs if they do the do not enter caches and tell them you are watching the caches.
  16. I have the macro installed and it appears to let me choose any GSAK database but just in case, I renamed my CM database to "default". I choose the default, run the macro and I get: Error in Macro at line: 16 FileRead File=$srcfile Error=> [File=] parameter is missing (Note: no spaces allowed either side the =) (error number: 631) I was able to reproduce Team Sagefox's error with an blank source file. I have not tried to reproduce Hydnsek's error, but with the combox box populated with a GSAK call I'm confused how that could happen. It would be helpful when an error occurs you send me your MacroError.txt file found in your GSAK application data directory, or simply click the View Error Log button and cut and paste the first error shown in your forum post. Edit: The mystery of the database selection is solved. The database field is a combo box and as such it is a pull down selection allowing selection of the correct database. I'll change the macro to force the selection of the current database but still allow the selection.
  17. So what I want to know is how did you get my location mostly correct on the not logged in page? Yahoo always wants to put me in Hood River, Oregon. Nice page.
  18. I'm traveling now and won't get to the bookmark until next week. But that shouldn't be a problem.
  19. smartphones and farcebook, a marriage made in hell. But why? Why do people think the other forums are better? And what do smartphones have to do with this topic??? Sent from my smart smartphone Well farcebook is social media, that's where you go to be sociable, post pictures of the big mac your about to eat and all that other interesting stuff. Can't do that without a smartphone because you need a picture. Oh, I almost forgot, you can post all sorts of political stuff there also. Forums? That is so 1995. But maybe there is hope if some more post here with their smartphone.
  20. smartphones and farcebook, a marriage made in hell.
  21. There already an excellent sub forum for GSAK at gsak.net/board. I don't see one here being useful because the knowledgeable folks over there probably would not come over here.
