  1. thanks for the input cw1710. my state (md) has a very limited selection of standard tags (3), but hundreds of organizational plates. and I believe your right with a portion going towards the organization. 1000 sounds like a reasonable number, i'm looking at some of md's organ. plates and i'm just having a hard time seeing 1000 people agreeing to purchase "Retired Enlisted Association Chesapeake Chapter 24 Organizational Plate" or the " S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., Inc. Organizational Plate ". Did notice plates are only $25 here.

Gonna keep looking in to this. Sounds do-able. spread the word.

You do know our local caching club here in Maryland (MGS) has it's own organization tag... I got mine a few weeks ago, They look pretty nice.

  2. Magellan Meridian Plat for sale.

The unit is in excellent shape and I'll include all of the following:

    Data Cable and Original CD

    Streets & Destinations Software

    256 Meg SD card.

I'll let it all go for $250.00 (firm)

Works great I just don't need it since I'm not caching much these days and when I do go out I use my Legend.

    Email me if interested.

  3. Not to be a party pooper, but that cache is in a Federal Wildlife Refuge. In light of the letter that was recently sent to Groundspeak from the US Fish and Wildlife Service (administers of NWR land), you might want to ask if the owner would like you to remove the cache for him once you find it.

Actually I think that cache is on Smith Island. I did a double take when I originally approved it until I remembered smith island. An email to the cache owner at that time confirmed thats where it was.

  4. This sounds like a very likely scenario to me. Garmin certainly wouldn't want to hurt their xmas sales of the existing models at this point. I too am hoping they're shown at CES. If they are I'll do what I can to bring back some pics!

    ---------------------------------------------

Garmin starts offering rebates on all eTrex models at the end of October or mid-November. They sell out remaining stock of eTrex units during the Christmas season allowing their dealers to reduce stock. They then introduce the GPS 60 line at CES in January. At least this is what I'm hoping for icon_biggrin.gif

I have configured Plucker to download that webpage and set my depth to 2 links. It took 2-3 hours for Plucker to download all the information and in the end it did not save it anywhere (I could find).

The configuration is identical to the one I use for gpx files converted to html via GPXSpinner and I triple checked all the settings. The output file is supposed to go to my memory stick on my sony pda.

This is the first time I have tried to use Plucker for anything but GPX converted files. What am I missing?? Has anyone else been able to download straight html files directly off the internet?

  6. I have to admit I've been wondering if these aren't just photoshop edits. I even scoured the FCC website to see if I could find anything regarding the new units but didn't come up with anything. Might be worth a call to Garmin to get verification one way or another.

  7. This weekend I really used GPXSonar a great deal and really put it through it's paces. I still think it's the best cache ino app out right now!

I do have one small sugestion icon_smile.gif

This past weekend I really used the field notes feature alot. i was away from home and my pc so I relied on this to keep my notes. Problem is when I got home to start logging it was kinda cumebrsome to read the notes on the ppc and log all the finds. Would it be possible to add a feature that dumped all the notes to some type of text file? That would make cutting and pasting log entries possible and really cut down on my time spent logging my caches.

  8. I have heard there is a version of expert gps in the works for the pocket pc. But currently to the best of my knowledge there isn't a waypoint management program for the ppc that will read and transfer gpx files.

The closet thing I've found thus far is g7toce.

The problem is this app won't handle gpx files. What I've taken to doing is uploading the gpx file to my gps and then downloading it to the ppc with g7toce. It's a pain but it's functional.

I have some info on g7toce at

My friend just told me that there will be a new gpsr from Garmin called GPS60 soon. He told me that the dealers alredy received some pomotion materials and it says that it comes with world base-map (no more atlantic and euro versions) and 50MB for maps, there will also be a colorscreen verison. It should be on the market just before XMas. So it only can mean that the official announcement will be at CES.

My question is if there is someone who has more information about the unit? Anyone w/ pictures?
