  1. gpx files have all the info with logs, loc files just have the location & title etc. The easiest way is to use PQs but you can get loc files as a basic member direct from the search pages. I personally think the best way to go is to use the PQs, import them all into GSAK then export the whole lot as a gpx file, zip it up, transfer to PPC then get cachemate to read them.
  2. I find the google earth plugin pretty useful for getting a quick overview of caches in an area. Info about it is here.. http://www.geocaching.com/about/google.aspx and this is the sort of thing you get with it... http://stevemurfin.com/junk/googlecache.jpg If you click on the caches you get the bubble as shown here, if you then click 'view cache details' it opens up the relevant webpage within google earth. You can also use google earth to get the lat/long of any place you want, then use the advanced search on geocaching.com to find nearest caches to it. I find this is a better way than messing about with zip codes.
  3. But when you go caching with Beeline, you also have to use a paper map whilst looking at this... Whilst with GPS Dash, I need no paper maps and see this... The choice is yours I suppose. The image lost some detail when compressed, but I can assure you it's a lot clearer on the device. The cyan line is my track to another Cache a few hundred metres N of the ones seen here. For the original poster, there's loads more info on most stuff discussed here: http://www.gpsinformation.org/dale/PocketPC/wince.htm
  4. Thanks for the help, but read my first post
  5. Yeah, there are a few ways of doing it on a PC by using the track data & stamping it onto the .jpg & into the EXIF info. Seems a shame there is nothing around to do it direct on my device though. Maybe if I keep banging on about it enough, someone will get around to coding something & making a pot of money for themselves.
  6. I tested all the ones mentioned above a while back and they all have good points & bad points. The best one I found during my trials hasn't been mentioned yet - GPS Dash v2.58 (www.gpsdash.com). At $27.60 it's cheaper than Beeline ($30) and in my opinion in a different league. Navio ($24.95) is also worth a mention (http://www.tinystocks.com/gps.html) but is somewhere just below GPS Dash, on a par with Pathaway v4 ($59.95).
  7. I personally use a Mio a701 which is also my phone, but for just geocaching I would highly recommend a Mitac Mio 168 (or similar marketed by other manufacturers) along with GPS Dash 2.58 software. Second hand, you should be able to get one around your budget which will be around $280 when you sell the etrex on Ebay.
  8. Hi, I'm new to both Geocaching & this forum, so please bear with me if my questions have been asked before. I have searched, but can't find answers. I am using a Mio a701 PDA/GPS/Camera phone for caching with GPS Dash v2.58 software and it seems to do everything I need it to apart from one thing. I would like to be able to take photos and have the lat/long read from the builtin GPS & stamped onto the photo. Is anyone aware of any software that can do this and runs on Windows Mobile 5? I am aware of things like "RoboGeo" which compare the recorded track with EXIF data on a PC, but really would like the ease of doing it direct on the device. I'm sure I can't be the only person with a PPC with integrated GPS & Camera who would like this feature?
