  1. I know a lot of people who call it "stupid" and "silly" and people who just say "I don't get it". You're looking too deeply into it. It's as stupid, silly, and as little to get as it is to sit in a house and watch TV all day. A few people called it dumb, but would be with me and I'd say "Stop here for a minute". I'd get out of the car and look for a cache and soon enough they'd be out with me searching. "Lets go get another!" It's easy to get people hooked. It's just a fun thing to do to pass the time. To each their own, but a lot of people need to get their priorities straight if they're mocking people for a hobby.
  2. I hardly ever see that last box filled. I think that if you do a live search for nearby caches from the app, disabled caches won't show up, but if you got that cache in a PQ for example, or do an advanced search for a particular cache by GC code, the cache will show up and be marked as disabled. I think. Yeah I tried that last night and it didn't work. Maybe next time I'm near one I'll try it.
  3. Don't wanna hurt their statistics.. or that's what some people have told me. It sucks.
  4. I always log my DNFs. Actually, I'm going to edit all my hides to say "Please log DNFs." Hopefully they'll follow my request. I hate when people don't log them.
  5. Disabled caches don't show up at all for me for some reason..
  6. Nope when a trackable is in a cache, a little tracking bug logo appears next to the Cache ID number with (x #) next to it to indicate how many are present.
  7. The first section shows up if it's a premium only cache. I can't figure out what the last one is. It's not DNF, and it's not Favorite. I'll keep looking and I'll let you know what I come up with.
  8. Thanks, guys. I marked it as NM before making the thread. I'll wait a few weeks now.
  9. Someone hid a pill bottle in a bit of a clearing in 2010. The last time it was found was September 2011. I've looked four times now. The last five logs are from different people not finding it and I know of three people who didn't log their DNF. The CO hasn't logged in since March. Would it be wrong of me to request that it be archived? It's mocking me every time I look on the map.
  10. I've gotten soaked, cut up, and spent many hours in the woods. Loving this challenge, though it's getting harder each day to figure out which cache I'm going to go look for.
  11. I placed a cache recently at a set of WWII Barracks that are near by. One of them, the path is accessed by a private road. I've been going here for many years, and I know many people who have been. There's a house at the end of the road where people park, and it's never been a problem for anyone. Unless it specifically says no trespassing, I'd just say go for it. If you're not comfortable with it, okay. But my case may be different because public property is accessed only through this road.
  12. I don't like how people "drop for distance" with TBs. Just visit the caches. We thought some trackables had been dropped close by. We went to find them and they were already gone because this guy dropped them and then picked them up.
  13. Glad you're having fun. But I don't understand your post. Which people are affected by a picture on a page they not look at? Who are they? Haven't seen rage either, only disappointment. The people saying they aren't going to geocache all of august because of the souvenir. All the souvenir is, is a picture on a page that they have already stated they don't bother with in the first place. Why stop doing something you enjoy doing all because when you do it, you're going to get a picture with a number on it? I'm just making it out to be exactly what it is. A picture on a website that has no significance. It doesn't affect the geocaching experience. It doesn't affect the game. It just appears on a tab that you have to click on to see.
  14. Guys.. just don't look at the souvenir page. I don't see why it's affecting people so much that a new picture will be on a page that they seem to not even look at. The fact that it brings them so much rage that they refuse to partake in an activity they enjoy for an entire month just to avoid it simply baffles me. It's ridiculous, if you ask me. As for me, I'm using it to keep in fun competition with my friend. "Did you get #11 yet? Better get on that. I'm hours ahead of you now." It's a game. Have fun.
  15. The coords for this particular cache were good, but my GPS was wonky. I bushwacked my way up a steep hill and then realized it was at the bottom. Lost my footing, and rolled down the steep hill. Didn't get injured however. My worst "injury" was after I got a new tattoo on my leg and grabbed a quick P&G while wearing shorts. Some kind of plant touched the tattoo and caused it to become infected even though I cleaned it plenty of times. Sucker for self inflicted punishment I guess.
  16. I think it's pretty crappy to do that. I have, however, put down a replacement when someone disabled their cache because it was in fact missing but they were out of province and couldn't replace it. I think that's okay, but just throwing one down because you can't find it? Ridiculous.
  17. Took a coffee cup, put a pipe into the bottom of it with a screw on cap where a separate container hides holding the log. The other side of the pipe is open inside the coffee cup. I filled the cup with cocking and part of the pipe also contains the cocking. I glued the cover to the container, and then glued a separate cover onto that cover. I then found a natural hole near a tree. I put a rock over the hole, covered it with dirt, and then hid the coffee cup sticking out of the hole. Just a piece of litter to the untrained eye. Wasn't meant to be difficult to find, just wanted to try my hand building something.
  18. I like the 31 days of caching. It's like a challenge to have a 31+ day streak. It made for a little bit of an interesting competition between me and a friend. I mean, I can see why some people would find it silly, but honestly. If you find souvenirs silly, simply don't look at them. I don't know why you let it ruin your day by complaining about it.
  19. I think it looks fine. Honestly, you just need to get used to it. In about a month, no one will remember the old look, and in a year, everyone will be complaining that they changed the design again.
