  1. Team caching makes it tough to straighten out finds. We have 5 accounts in the Heroes and we've developed a system whereby a quorum is necessary to log a team find. We require 3 of the 5 accounts to represent the Heroes. It makes it a real challenge. In some instances members of the team have found a team cache they weren't part of hiding or the Team has found a cache placed by one of the members not present. It's all good as long as folks use common sense and just have fun. I used to get all uptight when people logged their own, or when they double log, but now that the stat page is down there's no need to care, really.

  2. And for the record... In a reluctant post script. I am truly let down that you succumbed to the restriction of sweats for the fear of reptiles. The last time a rattler stood in my way without any way around I did the unthinkable... I dropped a bigazz rock on him. Pants or no pants if I would've been dumb enough not to hear him rattling at my dog from 50' away I would've deserved to get the crap bitten out of me.

And I've gotten poison oak THREE galdang times in the last couple of months and yet still I feel loathe to muck about in jeans, gortex, and particularly sweats. Call me crazy but to a certain point, I feel I must defy nature's bastardly threats. Briars of course deem this whole theory obsolete.

Nuff said. Real Dumbasses cache in shorts icon_biggrin.gif

  3. Rocks are truly glorious, although they can be an acquired taste. At times we have taken umbrage at the way people often times might lead you to a pile of rocks and say "under a rock" or "in the usual place". But more often than not rocks make the most clever hiding place if the hint is well thought out. Easier said than done. icon_razz.gif

  4. After reading this forum back when people were searching and feeling empathy for the loss Zzzoey and I felt compelled to make the same mistake. GPS on hood, drive away, ugly realization, a return to the scene of the crime, and PRESTO. We got very lucky and despite the scratched casing all is in order. That was pretty excruciating, driving back and forth along that stretch of road with fear weighing upon our heart. But at least we made the find!

  5. As a fellow wearer of shorts for all cache hunts I'd suggest you bring some tic repellent and maybe some neosporin... That sage can be awfully rough on the legs, especially when it's thick and dead. And the manzanita kinda sucks sometimes too. icon_biggrin.gif

  6. Laura, hope it goes well and you both come out healthy at the other end of the ride. Is this your first? illDRIVE and I are just now getting ready to start TRYING, so I am interested in hearing how you do, and how the whole experience was. illDRIVE won't admit this, but he is under the strict orders that when and if I go into labor.. my stress reliever WILL BE his family jewels. I mean, we may as well share the experience! icon_eek.gif

  8. I have seen is between McMinnville and Sheridan on the "highway of death" Hwy 18, at the turnoff to the Old Sheridan Highway and Masonville Road. Here are the coords(according to my memory and ExpertGPS): N45*10.323, W123*14.698

  9. They still won't let us in to check and see if it is intact. You are welcome to go check it out if you have a way to get inside the perimeter of closed roads. We think the cache itself was probably unharmed but that some of the waypoints may have been melted. Other than that we are relatively sure that Nature in Balance was wiped out, unfortunately. However there are plenty of others that are much closer to Madras and are completely smoke free, unlike further south. Hope we see you up here soon!!
