  1. Upgraded to premium about an hour ago. NOTHING is working now, none of the maps are showing any catches, can't view any saved premium caches and now I can't see any caches on my phone app. I have a huge trip planned tomorrow. HELP!
  2. I cached in college with friends back in 05-08. College is now about 10 hours away. I'd love to go back and find those old Caches as they are still active. In the meantime, can I use my friend's old log to claim the Cache's we found together?...if I post date them back to 08? I actually only have 3-4 in mind (the most memorable and the ones I know I did within them)
  3. When I cached in college it was more about signature items. People would leave a playing card becuase they were gamers....or a dice or some other trinket. Our outdoor club made stick dolls (about 2 inches high). Maybe because of the area we were in but we never had things like flaslights or other sundaries. Actually, half the time we left more things...I've only found one normal sized cache since I restarted and I found it rather empty of trinkets, but I hope that I will find ones more full, even if I don't take anything.
  4. I didn't remember premium caches when I used to do it in college in '05, but now that I have been out caching again I can see why PMO caches are a good way of doing things. People are careless and rather jerky about alot of things....just see the arguments about placing Cache's for goodness sake. I think it's also a level of comittment. If you want to do things just for fun there are plenty of free finds. For people a little more serious there's PMO which encourages website use....which helps with community, knowing what to do when you find a broken cache, etc.
  5. They aren't my kids, they are my friends' kids. I usually take them for walks in order to give their parents a break while I walk my dog....they all burn off more energy together. Yes, it is a treat, but my letting them be noisy is also a treat. One of the little girls lives in an apartment, and the others are a family of 5 kids who are all constantly reminded to keep the volume down. I'm the only one who dosn't require it. Like I said, they're usually pretty good kids, but like all kids they are loud and noisy. As I said also, I used to geocache with college folks who were very mild. We all looked and when someone found it was as a team. Being as Im in NH I don't know if there are many city finds, just woods and more woods....beaches and water if you go down to MA. I just wanted to know the rules.
  6. I think you either have to remember or be a premium member...atleast via my smartphone.
  7. It's not really the muggles that I'm worried about but other geocachers.
  8. In college, before smartphones, we had to go back to the computer to digitally log after writing in a paper log. While people now "do everything" on their phones, I honestly think it's much better to find the log, write it, and then go home and use a computer. People really care about their caches and I see the digital log as a way to know what people did and who they were with in lieu of a paper log which is minimal...and at this time of year often a bit on the soggier side and difficult to write on.
  9. Can one get a Cache deleted becuase they didn't follow the proper amount of stelth? I geocash when I'm watching my friends kids....2-12yo's. It's great and fun thing to do but between sibiling rivilry and, quite frankly, being kids they are very noisy and have a tendency to scream "I FOUND IT FIRST!" especally when in the woods. The dog adds to the chaos. They are mostly well behaved children, and I am not their parent and they are not hurting any one, and from previous walks they know that they are alowed to run and shout their hearts out. But, if another GEOcacher comes by can they make a note that I was not stelthy about my find and am disqualified? I did geocaching in college and found it a much quieter sport.
