  1. Markwell how did you do the screen print
  2. With ZoneAlarm off this is the properties of the big image which does appear: http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/log/displ...27e43aa5967.jpg resulting in this: with ZoneAlarm turned on this is the properties of the area the main image should be in: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...67-727e43aa5967
  3. Here's everything I've tried and the results. I used your (Jeremy) profile's gallery and clicked on the shots of Mopar and GeoHo: ZoneAlarm On = No autolog into Groundspeak forums, No Avatars, No main image in gallery, GC.com autolog fine, GC.com everything fine ZoneAlarm On & manual log into Groundspeak = Avatars fine, My Assistant, My Controls task bar fine, no main image in gallery only thumbnails @ bottom, GC.com fine ZoneAlarm Off = Autolog into Forums, My Assistant task bar fine, now get main images in gallery, GC.com fine Turn ZoneAlarm back on = Click new thumbnail in Gallery and no longer able to view main image, GC.com fine, click to go back into forum and autolog no longer functions I've tried leaving ZoneAlarm on and shutting down the firewall portion, but it still blocks the main images and the autolog. I realize this is an issue with the ZoneAlarm, but without knowing how the Groundspeak site sends it's data packs for the main image I don't see a way of getting the ZoneAlarm to point me in the right direction to a solution.
  4. OK Jeremy your first point seems to be it. I turned off my ZoneAlarm and it allowed the images through. I am confused though because I have always been able to see people's avatars, even with the ZoneAlaarm on. For some reason I also don't seem to be able to keep automatically signing in to Groundspeak's forums, ie I have the radio button @ log-in ticked to "remember me" but I still have to log-in each time I come back. Could the two be related, and is there something different about the gallery images from the avatars that I need to configure for in ZoneAlarm?
  5. It is when I try to view any of the gallery photos with the written log beside it. I tried refreshing it and uit is the same thing. I don't get any errors, just that it won't load the larger image. I feel it is some plug-in I'm missing but I don't know which one. Maybe TPTB who know what is required to view that particular portion of the page could comment.
  6. yup you were right it was right there in the new version, which I hadn't fully explored. Please tell me the number of logs to search is a new feature with this version or am I just blind and missed it in the last version.
  7. 3 things this post: 1) Clyde you have once again outdone yourself with the latest update 4.2...LOVEIT!!!! 2) I am still working on getting all of the postal codes and the related coords. for Canada. I have got the contact person that supplies Canada Post and just have to finally link up with him. 3) I am my area's Rep for the Ontario Geocaching Association, and have been trying to get GSAK to assist me with one of my duties and so far have been unable to acheive success. So here it is, how can I get GSAK to filter my database's waypoints most recent finds, for say the last 3 or 4 finds being unfound. This way I know to check up on the status of the cache with the owner to see if it needs to be archived or adopted. I am only one of a number who could use this feature, within Ontario at least.
  8. Here is a article that I just found in my old hometown's local newspaper, that relates to this topic. Isn't it ironic.
  9. My knife of choice As far as uses there are so many obvious ones such as opening packages, assisting in build shelters if you get stuck/caught in a secluded area, peeling apples for finicky kids/tagalongs, whittling while the tagalongs search for the cache in the totally wrong spot, cutting free from barb wire. Less likely but still possible are the minor surgical/first aid, major surgical/first aid(see the book "Between a Rock and a Hard Place"), cutting of seatbelts to free trapped crash victims, protection (others and animals).

This is not meant to bash anyone voicing their opinion about the loss of the perks the have enjoyed up till recently. I have been at the point of searching the furniture for lost change, running around collecting bottles to get refunds on and just squeeking out that months rent, thankfully I am not there anymore, and hopefully neither will anyone else for much longer. I recently lost my job in a career I've been doing for almost 20 years, and have had to tighten the budgetiary belt a few notchs. In doing so we had to look at all of our expenditures both mandatory and recreational and came up with some interesting resolutions. If our have a cell phone consider getting rid of your landline the savings may be greater than the exspence of a few more calls on the cell, a premium membership at $30.00/yr (0.003/hr) is a far cry cheaper than badminton club $20.00/6 mnth (0.38/hr), movie rental $2.00/hr, etc. It seems a hobby that any number of family and friends can enjoy for $0.003/hr (without an increase per person added) seems reasonable costwise to me. And if that is still to much then you still have the option of using a slightly scaled down/less bells and whistles version of the same database as even the most privillaged geocacher (except maybe Jeremy who has his PQs hand delivered to the actual cache sites just prior to his arrival, being carried by Hydee and Elias in a velvet lined chair. There is very little in this world that is free anymore. I believe this comes darn close when you really think about it, don't you?
  11. Jamie I believe you have the option of sorting either way when you go into your setup/options you can set it for geocaching id # or exact name match or wildcard match.
  12. *Bump* Anybody able to point me in the right direction, either here or toward a different thread.
  13. Bumping this forward to get some thoughts back. Editted for spelling (typing with one hand while holding a baby).
  14. Hopefully someone can help me with this as it is likely a small problem, simple too with my luck, but I have been having problems with the gallery images for some time recently. Here is what happens, I go into the gallery and click on a image, it opens into the postings page with all of the images associated to it at the bottom. The problem is there is no image in the big image window, which in this case is now proper width but short. All of the prev, next, click image to return to original is there but no matter what I click I can't seem to get the expanded image. I thought originally it was my old 'puter (Win 98SE) which was in the process of autodigesting it's own harddrive, but even with my newer system (Win 2000PRO) I can't seem to view the bigger picture. What am I doing wrong or have I not loaded into the system, anyone?

How can a signal/radio frequency travel at the 'speed of light'? I have seen this in a number of postings. Isn't it actually that the signal travels at the speed of that particular frequency and that figure is used internally in the GPSr as the multipication factor/constant. If it were indeed a light signal then the GPSr wouldn't work at night or indoors/under cover. Or are they refering to the speed of light in a 'radio spectrum' kind of reference. Just curious, not trying to ruffle any feathers.
  16. Here is something I haven't seen addressed yet on any of these pages. When I download the HTML file that GSAk creates to my Cassiopedia I can veiw all the cache pages, but when I try to use the bar across the tops of any of the indexes, they never jump down to the associated area. ie I am in the name index and want to jump down to the J's I tap on the J at the topo and the screen flickers like it is going to do something but just reloads itself. Has anyone else experienced thisa or solved it? Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug (doubt this as I seem to be the first to notice it)?
  17. I don't know I think that GSAK is even simpler then that. 1) download GSAK into your computer (register after you've tried it a bit and discover the greatness) 2) open GSAK 3) download/save your PQs to a file 4) either drag and drop the PQ files into GSAK or import them from within GSAK 5) export a HTML file to whereever you store files for your hotsync 6) hotsync your unit and view the cache pages on you PDA browser 7) play with/fine tune the files to your liking if you wish (in between steps 4 and 5) once you're more comfortable with GSAK. If you detail more of what you are actually doing the we might be better able to help you with what you're not doing or doing wrong. Good Luck
  18. Well there's part of your problem PJ your measuring it in 'miles' the numbers look much better if you use Kms or CBs (Cases of Beer) or SSs (Slap Shots). Check it out... Hey the closest cache to me is only a 12th of a "2-4" away! or Heck the nearest cache is only 32 slap shots away! (If you've ever played on a perfectly frozen lake you know exactly what I mean. ) Hope you get lots of hits on this thread, do you have an association yet?
  19. CEC is Valquas(sp? pronounced val-whas) still operating in Mattawa? I used to stop there on my way back home to the Valley, great food and cool watching the float planes coming and going.
  20. Hey HardOiler way to look after your OGA area withthat answer. You get a gold star at the next OGA AGM.
  21. CapnJack keep in mind that you can set and save your own filters using the sort button, so that the filters on your GSAK do exactly what you need them to do. If you want to learn how to use the GSAK program to its fullest take a look at the GSAK thread(s). Clyde starts a new one with every version as some of them are 9 pages long (a lot of reading but chock full of every concievable question and answer so you can learn without repeating the same mistakes others have been kind enough to make for you.
  22. The Ontario Geocaching Association (OGA) has a new website up and running now, the address is www.ontgeocaching.com. Come check it out and then come to Ontario and check out our caches.
  23. Let me start out by saying I have done a search for this, but have been unable to find my request in this thread. If I have missed/overlooked it, could someone please post/markwell the thread for me. I think the search engine needs to be expanded to allow for more specific searching. ie. I am looking for information on 'what are the forum's search parameters?'. I am presently limited to trying to guess the ONE word that best describes what I am looking for, because as soon as I enter two words in the search field it starts looking for that exact phrase's appearance in the postings. I think I should be able to enter a string of words that I want to appear anywhere in a single posting and have the search engine here return a valid hit. This would better take advantage of the wealth of info and knowledge that is contained in these forums. It would also decrease the number of instances of other members posting a markwell because they found a better single word to obtain the desired results. Do a search on "markwell" (as a verb not a noun) it's a long list of resultant threads. If I am completely missing this feature I am quite sure someone will be nice and point it out to me, even a flame that shows me how, would be useful to me in the long run.
  24. I am still using my Magellan 315 I got at a cash (cache? HEHEHE) converters. I love it and might look at getting a second unit eventually but don't know if any unit will 'replace' this one. I routinely get 2 M EPE presently.
  25. Annie, how about a list of caches needing adoption and a classified section for people to exchange items.
