It was probably I who was the OP who outted [the website]. I found them on the Swamp Hikers FB page and had a rather rude conversation with them. [link removed]

Solved the problem - There is a Google Earth setting when you drop the track log on Google Earth to snap the altitude to the earth's surface. Uncheck that option and it works fine.

I'm skeptical about the pressure thing. Anybody else know about this?

I attached a Garmin GPS watch to my drone and flew it very high (several hundred feet). After the drone returned, I uploaded the track to Google Earth to see the altitude profile. Google Earth said the drone went only 20 feet high and recorded very little variation in the altitude. I repeated that procedure with my handheld Magellan GPS and got the same result - very little altitude change. Any ideas why my GPS track is not showing the proper altitude? p.s. The GPS tracks that I captured displayed a track and recorded horizontal speeds. It's just the altitude that's note reporting.

This is a horrible abuse of elipses.

Explorist 500? That's what I have. I think the limit is 200. I usually size my PQs at 199.

Isn't the 10th anniversary of geocaching coming up in 2010? Is there anything big planned by Groundspeak or anybody else in HQ?

If I attempt it and can't find it, I log a DNF. No shame in that.

What happened to TeamAlamo

Heh, not only do I remember, I did change my name after a year or so. But I thought that feature went away. I guess it's available by special request now. I can't resist. This is your new and improved name? Yea, funny huh? -

Ah...must have had cooperation from HQ to change names? -
Last time I checked, TA had over 30K finds. And TA's profile page is rather ominous. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default....01-e081ee020b7e And how do you delete all those finds?

Thanks. I just joined and added a couple videos that are loosely geocaching-related. They're from places we found geocaching. -
Going to Orlando, FL at Christmas
CacheMonkeez replied to lostinthesparks4's topic in South and Southeast
If you like geocaches in the woods (GCM8V9, et. al.), head for the Little Big Econ State Forest, east of Orlando. If you like urban micros, they're all around. -
ItsNotAboutTheNumbers.com top ten list

Nobody knows? -
Does anybody know the status of ItsNotAboutTheNumbers.com Top Ten List? It has been down for a while and I haven't been able to find out any information about when it will be back up.

I was noodling around on wheresgeorge.com and ran across a link to geocaching.com. That was over six years ago.

Oh no. Jetskier and I hooked up with Dak when he visited Orlando for some training a few years back. Even though we never met before, we did memerable a night run around the Disney property and had a great time geocaching and avoiding the rent-a-cops. He also taught us some Australian slang and we taught him that even though the rent-a-cop may be armed, he's not going to shoot you for geocaching. He will be missed by all I'm sure.

Caching while canoeing in Central Florida
CacheMonkeez replied to Fear Itself's topic in South and Southeast
Canoe along the Econ River. You can put in at the 419 Canoe Launch or the Snow Hill Road Bridge. Lotsa caches along the way. -
Yes, that's the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) where they stack (assemble) the SRBs, external fuel tank, and orbiter.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Center does not allow GPS on the premises. I asked them about it and the rent-a-cop there said that would allow somebody to pinpoint targets. This is not Photoshopped, but it looks like they added "GPS" to the top of the list later. This sign is at the entrance of KSC.
