    Flickr Link?

OK, now I feel dumb. Turns out the computer I was on had a greasemonkey script that adds a flickr link to each cache page. Sorry for the confusion!!

    Flickr Link?

OK, I think I figured it out. The following cache: Sheridan Bay Cache (GCJKYG) has a link to flickr galleries where one would normally find the link to geocaching galleries. Not sure how they did it but would love to see this feature implemented everywhere as I was planning on going back and tagging flickr pictures with the caches that I took them at!

    Flickr Link?

When I get home, I'm going to check my history cause it should still be there from last week... hope I'm not just going crazy!!

    Flickr Link?

It was there for maybe a week or two and now appears to be gone...

    Flickr Link?

Awhile back I was pretty sure I saw a link on each Geocaching page that would have taken you to a flickr page containing all images tagged with that particular waypoint. This feature seems to be gone. It seemed like a really great idea since Geocaching has size constraints for images. Any ideas as to why this feature was removed? Thanks!
  6. Yes, I tried emailing him but never heard back... that was the first thing I tried!
  7. I am trying to track down a Geocaching.com user named 'Holden Caulfield'. He is listed as being out of Santa Barbara, California and has not accessed the site since November 25th. He has one of my travel bugs that is in a race and I just want to know what he did with it. If you know him, can you please have him contact me? Thanks, Tom
  8. Hi Folks, Going to Vegas in about two weeks for a week vacation. Was hoping to get some caching in while we're at it. I noticed that there are plenty of virtuals right on the strip but we are also renting a car and going to Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Valley of Fire. If you could recommend some of the better caches in those areas then I can do local map searches of other potential caches in the area. Thanks so much, I can't wait to go!!
  9. I would like to get the following category added to the Restuarant tab: Specialty Dessert Restuarants. There are some really excellent places out there that cater only to making the finest Desserts and I would like to add one in that is in Buffalo, NY. Thanks in advance!
  10. Two pictures I took at Rocky Adventure in Webster, NY
  11. I've been reading both the pros and cons of this issue and realized that there might be a few places where it would be considered ok for the cache owner to log their own find. Up here in Rochester, we have a cache that, every time it is found, gets moved to another location in Rochester with a small clue to help the next person find it. So, theoretically, the owner of the cache would not know the precise location of the cache once someone has moved it. Now, this brings up the question of whether or not it is ok for a single cache user to continuously return to the cache after it has been moved and log it as a find. That is not for me to decide, but I do think it is safe to say that a cache owner could legitimately log this as a find. Secondly, we sometimes have event caches up in this area. At one such event, two traditional caches were put out for only the weekend of the cache. As such, people who went to the event cache, could then log two more finds to the same event cache; provided they explictly stated which cache they were posting a find for. All in all though, does any of it really matter? We each have our own ways of "playing the game" with differing opinions of what should count and not count. I for one have a pet peeve about member accounts that actually consist of an entire family and they post a find regardless of whether the entire family was there or not. Does it really matter to me though? No. As long as there are still new and interesting places to go caching, the logging habits of others should not affect me.
  12. Team Bridgebuilder... I know there was a sign-up sheet going around at Pub Night which was hosted by the Lyndon Road Gang. You can access the web page here: Pub Night Cache The Lyndon Road Gang has the main database of names and numbers... Hope this helps!! -Tom A.
  13. I for one think it would be great to include photos that cachers took, with their permission of course! I've kept all the high resolution images of all my caching photos that I've taken so far. By all means, check out my photos and if you feel there are any "worthy" of being part of a calendar, let me know and I'll gladly share the originals! tanders1 Photogallery
  14. Personally, I will take pictures at every single cache site I go to and post the pictures online. However, I will never post any picture that may be considered a spoiler. The only place a spoiler picture ever goes is onto my personal CD of all the photos I have taken. I respect the hiders in my area too much to ruin some of the great surprises they have in store for us. Also, many of you will post spoiler pictures. While it is true that fellow cachers could simply not click on them, if you choose to look at any of there other pictures, either on the cache page or on the user's gallery, the picture will pop up there. Unfortunately there is no way around this other then having the cache hider contact the user and 'kindly' ask them to remove the photo. --Just my two cents--

    Fun In Toronto

Hi all! I'm traveling up to Toronto this weekend from Rochester, NY. I'm planning on doing some siteseeing at places such as the zoo. Does anyone know if there are any actual caches hidden in the zoo? Also, are there any "must-do" geocaches located in Toronto itself? Thanks in advance!! -Tom

    Victor, Ny

Wow! It's great to see that some of the towns in my area are so accepting of geocaching! -Tom
  18. Hmmm, I've done the ones at North Ponds Park and they would be really easy for the group. That might be a good idea. Mendon Ponds might be good too just because there are so many down there. I was also thinking about Eastman since it seems to have a lot too, but since I haven't done any of them I wasn't too sure of the difficulty factor...
  19. Hi all, I'm looking to take a group of people out geocaching. Most of them have never been before and I am trying to find a park or something where there are a few different easy to find caches. The fitness levels of the group varies so I don't want to kill them on the hike! Does anyone know of a good place in the Rochester, NY area to take these first time cachers? I've done most of the caches in Webster Park but I think they might be a bit too extreme for the group I am taking. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom
  20. Congratulations to both of you guys! Hope you don't run out of caches to do anytime soon! -Tom
  21. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I emailed the cache owners and will see if they take the appropriate action. In the meantime, would it be wrong of me to post a note on the cache page telling people not to look for the cache, or would that be stepping on the owner's toes? Thanks, Tom
  22. Yeahh, I've already contacted the owners and if they don't post something within the next day, I will. I'm wondering how often this occurs out in the caching world anyway? I'm assuming this doesn't happen too often but I could be wrong!
  23. Hi all! I'm hoping you can solve my question. There is a cache in my area that I went searching for twice and both times ended up not finding it after about an hour of searching each time. The first time I had logged a DNF, and the second time I simply posted a note. Now, I did notice that the last person that had found the cache back in the beginning of April said there were problems with the cache, wrote that they took it home to fix it and would bring it back the next week. I emailed this person today and discovered that they had actually misplaced the cache and still haven't returned it to its proper location! I emailed the cache owners informing them of this since it seems rather unfair for folks to search for non-existent caches. So, my question is, should I change my DNF post to just a note since the cache was never there in the first place? Should I even care!? It just bothers me that I go out looking for something twice only to discover that someone just didn't care enough to actually return the cache, or at least post a note that it still was not there! OK, enough venting for now, I'll see what you folks have to say about this. Thanks! Tom
  24. I'm a lefty too... It's always fun trying to use scissors designed for righties!
  25. I think this is an excellent idea for a theme cache as The Dark tower series is my all time favorite. Now, could you just move to Upstate NY and place it there!!
