  1. I'll give it a go. I love solving puzzles long-distance, but I guess I haven't actually found that many in-person, so I won't be insulted if you leave me out. Is that username a reference to the censored version of The Big Lebowski?
  2. Try this link for Google Maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...&iwloc=near Unfortunately, there are no caches within 5 km: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...;lng=-78.025047 If that were near me, I might go place a cache themed about the show. That is, if I knew anything much about it.
  3. Hmmm. Well if you are visiting Sheboygan County, WI, I have a bookmark list for you. In all seriousness, though, I imagine you could sort caches you downloaded by placement date using a third party program. I think I recall lurking a recent thread about determining county boundaries and the resolution was that GSAK could do it. I wouldn't know though. I currently use a mac, and I don't bother playing around with MacCaching. I did my list by seaching from the center and selecting old caches within the county by hand. Of course there's always the chance someone has done the work for you. If you know one oldest active there already, you should definitely check its bookmark lists first. EDIT: Umm I can't read. You already tried that.
  4. Yeah. TNLNSL = "Thanks - Not a Likable or Notable Stash. Later." Vandal! But in all seriousness, the only abbreviations I ever use are the descriptive ones in talking about the nature of the hunt. (GZ, FTF, LPC, UPR...)
  5. I don't see any premiums or multis that it could be, unless it was really long distance offset. Perhaps it was archived quickly for some reason? (improper placement, CO not wanting to maintain it, request by college) Were any of the logs recent? Too bad you don't have the name - tha would make the search much easier.
  6. The "detail" of this comment has made me surprisingly curious about line painting. Not even joking. Maybe it says something about me personally, but when I cannot write anything about the cache, I just end up writing mundane details about the journey and any emotions involved in it. ie "The unicorn stickers in here triggered a vivid flashback of my childhood."
  7. my wifes reaction was "thats a really dangerous trade item" I LOVE MY WIFE Awesome quote. Even being relatively new to this, I went to a buddy's house the other day and saw he had an ammo can outside with the latch open. I looked inside and saw it was full of woodchips (for whatever reason) and immediately thought "what kind of crappy swag is this?" moments later followed by "oh noes...what have I become???" You know you're a geocacher when you get a trackable tattoo ...especially if you buy 50 tracking numbers for it just so you can give it a unique icon.
  8. Perhaps you could satisfy your mobility desires by attaching a very small swag container (maybe even with its own log book...) to an ordinary trackable? Don't consider it a cache, just an advanced bug! Of course being a newbie I have no idea what the general opinion towards this is or if such things already exist but I feel it would fit within the guidelines much better.
  9. False. All of my attempts reaching into trees have been on solo hunts. Sadly the cache has always been somewhere else. True or False - You've had encounters with other cachers where you pretended to be just a muggle (and quietly observed them! )
  10. I also plan on going to the event...though considering that it is a mega-event I suppose it's not that unusual! Anyway, while I am a newer cacher, I do only live about 20 minutes away and intend to head out that way either this weekend or next for some warm-up runs. If I find anything I really enjoy or really challenged me I'll post about it here. And if you see anything online that makes you curious, send me a message and I will try to check it out and give my 2¢. (No spoilers of course!) Cheers and hope to see you there!
