***I tried to make a puzzle cache once. I embedded an online jigsaw puzzle in the html and gc.com stripped it out. I had a puzzle cache with no puzzle.***
And I spent HOURS trying to figure that out.....

It would require someone to locate something at GZ ... and calculate the bearing and distance to walk to the cache stage.
The cache link you provided does things like that.
-
-
I started a topic in the forum....got my answers and now want to close it.
How do you do that?
-
***What's the point? either the cacher already knows that they can just +180 to your bearing and move away from the GZ point ***
You already assumed that they know what bearing to take before they got to GZ.

Thanks for the replies.
Remember entertainment is different for different people. To me, finding a micro in a tree or under a light-pole skirt is not entertaining....finding a well placed ammo box deep in the woods is.
I'm still in the plotting stage....

Like This?
This is one of my caches...but I don't delete them. Other cachers know there are spoiles available and if they don't want to be spoiled...then don't look. Besides, the cachers still have to go there and sign the log book.

(1) Can you specify coordinates to a particular spot and then from there have the cacher walk a magnetic bearing for maybe 100' feet to find a clue?
(2) Can that clue then have a geocacher get the next coordinates off a website?
(3) Can a clue have coordinates on voicemail and have the geocacher call in from a cellphone to get them?
(4) Can the cache segments be divided up....some stages are Day / some stages are Night?
What else could you do to make a real caching adventure...but pass Geocaching.com's rules...Ideas?

Never got Poison Ivy. I always come home after geocaching and take a shower shampooing my hair and washing myself several times with liquid dishsoap to disolve and wash away anything on my skin.
-
I didn't see them there yesterday....but I see them back again today.

I Emailed Linda and she responded right away. For some reason the order didn't move from one system to another.
My firetacks were sent this morning. Everything OK.
-
So far, no email response and the phone number takes you to a recording.
Order is still "Pending".
-
I'm still showing "Pending" after 4 days.
I emailed them...lets see if I get a response. My credit card has already been charged...5 days ago.

***This allows me to subsidize my jet fuel. Gas prices are pretty atrocious these days***
Yea, my YUGO used to burn JET-A too....Now I have to use 80/87 (The Red Stuff).

Ok, On Zone Alarm...On the "Main" screen, if you have "Ad Blocking" set to "High" you won't see the maps. I set it to "Medium" and it works fine.
On Windows 2000 I have it set to high and it works fine. Oh well...now that this is working on XP...I will not have to get Vista...lol.
Thanks all for the replies.

Ok, I found it. It is "Zone Alarm" the firewall doing something. If I stop Zone Alarm...everything works fine. If I start it...some pictures and maps don't show up.
I'll get back.
-
I've reset all to "default" and still don't see it.
If I click on "My Account", on the left side it says "Advertise With Us"...the picture above that does not display either.
I'll have to play with the settings later.
-
The map itself does not display. So, I can't even click on it.
-
When you go to a cache listing, on the right side of the page, under inventory and decription key, there is a street map you can click on.
On windows 2000 I can see it. On Windows XP...it does not display.
What settings do I need. I have security at medium and Active-x enabled....what else?

I'm still showing "Pending" after 4 days.

I Have a Palm TX and CacheMate. Works Great.
-
You Are Not considered the bad guy...that is what these forums are for...to get and exchange ideas.
-
I have 8 caches out there and don't care if people give hints....they still have to get there and sign the log book. I just maintain them so when found, they are at the proper coordinates and there is a dry log and working pens.
Heck, people can send pictures of the cache in its hiding spot if they want. They still have to walk there and sign the log.
New Cache Trying To Set Up Short / Long Descriptions
in Website
Posted
For the short description, I have HTML pointing to a JPEG file on my server and the HTML box checked on the geocaching cache page...that works just fine.
For the long description I have plain text that I typed in...but whenever you save it and go look at it...it bunches everything up into 1 long sentence.
So if I typed 2 lines:
Hello there
I am Guru4Hire
After saving, the long description displays everything in 1 line:
Hello there I am Guru4Hire
Can you not mix HTML in 1 box and Text in the other box? Whats Up?
