  1. *** This Just In *** Urban "cache and dashing" takes on whole new meaning! Drive by caches are now drive up and reach out caches... soon there will be college students on roller skates delivering caches on trays...
  2. This was posted in our rarely visited local forums. I thought it would be better served if posted here. Where more eyes can read and more opinions can florish! I agree entirely. Post a useful, short, unencrypted hint... or none at all!
  3. can't log it if you don't know which one it is... local admin is your best bet!
  4. I used to agree with you 100%... until I found these: Liquid Protien tubes... are great nutrients for hikers (less digestion needed)... then recycle into caches (cheaper - without camo tape)! They are stronger, seal better and you can fit a couple pens in them. They wouldn't be good urban micros, but they are great to throw in the pack and hide while hiking.
  5. are you flatlanders having a tough time with creativity?
  6. if your stages are not going to be drivebys and the cache is meant to be found on one trip/hike... then you should put enough information on the cache page to set everyone up for success. ask yourself what people need to bring with them, or what they already have. ie a GPSr can accept coords in various formats and project waypoints as well. I've used UTM and degrees/feet for stage clues.
  7. I personally wouldn't enjoy it, viruses, etc... but you would need to make it an unknown cache due to the ALR. explaining the ALR on the cache page. hope the files stay 'clean'. I would be tempted to sign my name with a pen in ascii code...
  8. thanks for that... so much for eating grapes while I shop
  9. Easy stuff! #1: Ignore the cache and move on to the next... #2: Hold the camera out and point it back at you, or set the timer... #3: see #1 ...for virtual and earthcaches only. all others with ALRs for pictures are ridiculous, see #1.
  10. 5 star terrain!? ridiculous...
  11. ALRs would make that an "unknown" cache type. i recommend using a trail of small reflectors... that can be followed by a flashlight at night.
  12. I've had to do this in the past: Look at the logbook and find some names and dates. Look up those cachers profiles and check their finds for that date.
  13. Not sure why you need to do that... try using a Garmin. The GPSr should be correct. Ignore Google Earth. Images from space will never be accurate. The camera can't be directly over each coordinate to take pictures.
  14. There is a road and a trail on the otherside of these cliffs...
  15. Actually I think it was, "Hey Ya'll. Watch this!" I was practicing my technique to win Colorado's 4x4 Bear Award at the Mountain Luau! You might have some tough competition if Kriskook comes along. oh yeah! watch this:
  16. Good input, but not entirely useful to a visitor. That list needs help. It should get organized by trailhead, or park. Else, those listed caches should get voted in. Yes, I thought about proposing this list myself, but it is extremely time consuming.
  17. Rather than driving around town looking for random favorites from a bookmark, or random urban micros from a pocket query... let me suggest a couple parks (linked to oldest cache in that park): Palmer Park Pulpit Rock Park Ute Valley Park Fox Run Park Black Forest Park
  18. I've seen some caches where the owner printed the online log, then cut and pasted that into the new log... (before the urban-micro boom, when people cared...)
  19. I wonder if anyone has ordered a personal license plate with their TB code...
  20. Actually I think it was, "Hey Ya'll. Watch this!" I was practicing my technique to win Colorado's 4x4 Bear Award at the Mountain Luau!
  21. Limon is too far for Kansas... Try hitting the local boards. You'll get a bigger audience.
