  1. And for another quick question .... Two popular claymation characters refer to a particular type of cheese in their films. Name that cheese.
  2. Ditto although the timing was a little better. My crow would fly 23km but over water (60km by road) for a 1.5/1.5 P&G with 734 finds over 6 years including 3 last month. I'm not rushing out either.
  3. T didn't ring a bell, Deuterium shot into my mind when I saw the clue. I can see a google session approaching.
  4. I was one of four guinea pigs faced with this type of puzzle and no instructions. I think we gained entry and reset it in around 30 minutes by taking turns as our fingers cramped. We predicted other cachers might be tempted not to reset it. Sorry, I don't have any helpful answers but good luck with your idea.
  5. If I can not get what I want / need / would like from the new search & map format then I would look elsewhere whether it is heresy or not. I did not know about this but will be investigating the current version and following progress of the new one. Thank you both.
  6. I have the choice of two maps with IE. The geocaching map only shows the icons on grey. The other is OK. So, we are probably both doing something wrong.

    Error 500

I was not going via the map but direct from a GC code so that's probably not going to narrow down the problem area. Twitter ... Thomfre has already looked so we hope that he will post any news here for those of us who don't Twitter. Please Thomfre?

    Error 500

Same here. Every cache I want to look at is showing Error 500.
  9. My eyes are getting older but I definitely agree with Viajero Perdido.
  10. Thanks for the info on PQs which I already understand and use. I can not see how this answers my question which was "Please could you explain old and new API?" Perhaps that information will become clearer once we have worked with our own database and dates. It's only 15000 caches and we can split it into smaller databases to find the info we would like.
  11. We got GSAK for Christmas although we have been exploring it for a few months. I understand the 10 PQs of 1000 caches but ran into the error message something like "exceeded your allowance of 6000" yesterday. I've been reading the help notes while I wait for 24 hours for another 6000 but haven't found the answer yet. Please could you explain old and new API?
  12. Your stats differ for D4.5 and T3.5 and also Finds on 29 Dec. If you have to run a PQ to put stats into Mygeocachingprofile.com then you could try it again and see if the PQ is up to date. You could also check your 4.5/3.5 finds on a search/filter page and compare against a smaller PQ. You're also missing one 2018 cache so I would suggest you looked at a 4.5/3.5 cache which you did yesterday and see if it appears on a new PQ.
  13. I still see you. Well, at least I see you begin with 0/06/06 Batteries go where ?? GEOCACHING ?? What is that ?? and end with the length of your Found It logs. Is this what you expect to see? But loading still pauses after the first 8 or so lines. I've checked on Opera and IE. Can't try Firefox now as it has an bad effect on my memory and I'm in a hurry today so don't want my computer to have a hissyfit.
  14. I've been looking at mine tonight and the system is rather slow. I had a look at yours and got a very short profile then a long pause and then a very long profile which looked complete. Perhaps give it another try?
  15. Try this..... From the main search page Click on magnifying glass Search This brings up the sort of map shown previously in this thread. Move/zoom map to rough area required On the left panel click Filter Geocache name contains enter Langley Park or LPN Click Done What do you get? Probably not the simplest way but it may get you somewhere.
  16. Did you have your map zoomed to cover the expected area before you searched?
  17. And it doesn't just happen after multiple attempts. I wanted to check one set of co-ordinates this morning and had to play 12 pages of out-of-focus and grey on grey picture games before I could even ask it for a check. Surely there must be a better way or clearer pictures?
  18. My dashboard events for "within 100km from home" for 31st Dec show 12 events and "view 9 more". 2 of the 12 events are within 100km and 10 are between 108 and 232km. View 9 more gives only two which are the two within a 100km distance. This is the sort of mixed result I usually get from the events calendar. Using Windows 8.1 and Opera.
  19. Well, I can think of two places where these games aren't but have't yet remembered where they are!
  20. I think I am missing the obvious too! So I select a place and get the map, then I have to tell it to search for caches. I pick a cache and have to click to get the side panel then click again for "more info" to get anything useful. But this doesn't open in a separate window so I can look at a few cache pages together. Then I have to go back to look at the next cache so I go back a page which changes to another zoom level. So another back to return to the zoom level I want and the "search this area" box has vanished and also most of the caches which were shown before. I have to move the map to get the box to re-appear and then search again to get the caches back onto the map. The map is also very slow to move. brendanjw states "Not only does this provide choice and intent to the geocacher, but it also prevents unnecessary search service requests, thereby providing a more responsive map, and a better experience for the geocacher." I used to be able to find the caches I wanted within a few clicks and still have a map to view. Now I have something like 8 clicks to see one cache and no map. Sorry brendanjw but it's not more responsive and is certainly not a better experience for me. If I were faced with this as a new cacher I would be put off.
  21. The prototype was called the Magic Cube and the name survived for several years. The name was changed to Rubik's Cube for the main launch in 1980. According to the Rubik website, the fastest solve is 4.22 seconds. So that's a Ding! to speakers-corner.
  22. It's the time of year when children start to hint at what Santa might be bringing in a few weeks. So, for your next question ..... The prototype was made in 1974. The main launch was 1980 with the first main craze starting in 1981. Since then there have been many varieties made including a 25th birthday edition. There are competitions and even a World Championship. Another variety became popular in 2017 and is still on the Santa list this year. What is this best seller which I now have to buy to put in the kids' stockings?
