I don't usually rush out to get FTFs nowadays. However, if I arrive at a cache site at the end of the day and I'm still FTF, then it means that you guys dropped the ball.

Man! I heard the sad news while at the SEPAG event today. Helmut was one of the early cache placers in Northern NJ, and I enjoyed every one of his caches that I sought. Over the years, I've met up with him at cache sites and local events a couple of times and he was also nice enough to set up the geo-event at his neighborhood tavern to celebrate my 3000th cache. From what I've seen, he's a great family man. He brings his daughters out on cache hunts and hikes often. My condolences to his family.

I think someone put out a Christmas cache in my area last year. It was full of gift-wrapped items.

One of them appears to have been an accidental loss, not a theft. The other one, at the war memorial, could have gotten washed out of position by rain or ice melt. The third one, however, could potentially be discovered by dozens of students from the nearby school. We cannot foresee all the problems with a cache location. The best we can do is try to place the cache in a reasonable location, and if it doesn't work well, archive it and find another location to place a cache.
