So basically you just locate any trigpoint and take a photo of it?

O.k all I want to be able to do is save a picture into my documents and then insert it into my cache description pages. How do you do it? Every time I've tried before on previous advice all that has come up is a box with a red cross through it. Sorry if this sounds dumb but I can't figure it out!!! Any help please would be appreciated!

What does the status- "Non validated member" mean? I recently saw an account saying just that and that their last visit was never.

In the planning stages of a trip to Hong Kong and am looking for recommendations on the best caches in HK. In general they can be on HK Island or the New Territories but preferably HK island. Also any good ones on Lantau? China mainland seems the place to go for dozens of unfound caches!

Apoligies if this has been mentioned before in the forum (which I'm sure it has, just two many pages to scroll through) but I recieve little or no GPS signals in some areas (e.g woods) and was wondering how benificial purchasing an external aerial would be??

So basically I can go anywhere in the world to find caches and should not have to change anything on my GPS?

I was under the impression that earthcaches are grandfathered cache types however I can still find newly published earthcaches on the geocaching.com website? Can you still place them?

I have read about some now grandfathered moving caches in which a travelbug that is attached to a small container and a logbook travels around from cache to cache and is all listed on geocaching.com as a cache. Where are they? Any examples? Links?

When listing a cache how do you upload images so that they appear on the main page of the listing?

I wasn't really looking for clarification, simply an insight into the banning of members and why people would want to waste their time creating multiple accounts and false found it loggings. To me it doesn't really make a difference if someone wants to mess about loggings thousands of finds but banning should be in place for this offence simply because it corrupts the system.

Of course I'm not looking to get banned! Geocaching is my new favourite hobby and I hope to continue participating for many years to come. I am just curious to why people spend their time logging hundreads of cache finds that they haven't even found. It just seems pointless, I mean what is the point...

I understand that members can be banned through multiple loggings of caches that they didn't actually find but what else can you be banned for?

A topic has sprung up on one of the other GC messageboards about extreme caches (5* terrain) and I am keen to know about any located in the U.K. There are several in the states and are difficult to the point that cachers risk their lives hiking through untracked areas with no official paths that can be found before your visit and are rarely found. So if there are any I would be grateful for any links to the cache listings posted on thsi thread. Thanks.

Yes you could effectively make your own travelbug. You would have to get a quote from one of the geocoin companies such as oakcoins and see if they would be able to make your design which I'm sure they would would if you were willing to buy several hundread and that way they would be trackable on the website. But what is the point, why not just buy one of the official travelbugs or have some proper geocoins made as this would be more cost effective and would probably look better.

When placing these caches I assume that there is no responsibility on the owners of the cache. For example if someone was seriously hurt or died they could not be taken to court? That is the only way I would ever consider hiding an extreme cache such as these.

I hope to place the first Timelock cache soon and hopefully it will go from there, it might be an idea to post any timelock caches that you've hidden on this thread until a timelock attribute is made avaliable.

Maybe a better idea would be to have a "Timelock cache" attribute rather than an actual cache listing. This attribute would alert cachers to the fact that the regular cache they were searching for contained details of a nearby bonus timelock cache.

Well, I've only been pondering for a few minutes, but here's one idea. Establish and maintain a regular cache. Post a note with the cache that on a specific date (or perhaps certain event... like every full moon or at every equinox/solstice) that you will provide an additional clue within the cache that will lead them to a bonus find. You could vary the details in such ways as, say for instance for this "event" that you've stashed a lockbox at a specific set of coordinates somewhere. You could divy out 5 keys, placed within the regular cache. You only place these keys the eve before the date/occurence. Then the first 5 people to find it then get a key/coordinate to the bonus round and might have a nice little prize waiting for them. Just one idea. I'm sure there will be plenty more. This alleviates you to maintain a regular cache but lets you add special events to it. If that makes sense. Nerissa That's a really good idea, when added to a regular cache and if there was something in it for the 5 or how ever many lucky cachers it makes this Timelock caching idea sound a lot more promising.
