  5. On my profile page I put the names of the cachers I have met as a link to get to their home page. When I accessed my profile page yesterday I see that the links aren't there, just the name of the cacher(no underlining or different color to signify the link) Does anyone know why would occur? The link ability just all of a sudden quit. This is the method I use: It seems to work here fine, but it just quit on my homepage and it wont work anymore. Thanks in advance for any help! Mark

  8. Thought I would push this topic back to the top for the new year... So, what are your hiking/backpacking goals for 2009? I'll start... I've been slowly building up my equipment to graduate from dayhiking to some overnighters and weekend trips, so my first goal is to go to my parents farm in early spring and practice my camping skills and become familiar with my equipment. Next, would be a weekend backpacking trip to Itasca State Park, where the Mississippi River begins, and is a very beautiful park. Some day hikes on the North Country Trail and Superior Hiking trail, and as my expereince and confidence grow, some backpacking trips as well. There are many caches on these trails, so Ill be able to grab those on the way. So, how about you?
  9. When I was younger, I used to bullhead fish at my parents cabin in northern Wisconsin at night. I remember many times sitting out on the pier and listening to the loons and frogs. There were quite a few times when all of a sudden we would hear the most terrifying sounds that we ever heard in the woods. It would make the hair on our arms and necks stand straight up. It was the bobcats down in the swamps. The only way I could describe the sound is to say that we honestly thought that there might be some young woman being tortured somewhere. I's been many years since I have heard that sound, and that is one sound that I will never forget. On my parents farm here in Minnesota I have heard bobcats. Like you folks have said, its the most unworldly, spooky sound you are likely to hear in the woods. One time we heard it in the evening. My Dad and I jumped in the truck to go look for the cat. Didnt see it, but it was still quite a thrill.
  10. Beautiful Brainerd Minnesota!
  11. Many people say you need to sign the log to get a find. However in a case like the one you mention, if it were my cache I would allow the find. You found it, didn't you? Now if the circumstances changed a bit. Say the cache was hidden high in a tree and retreiving the cache was meant to be part of the challenge, then simply seeing the cache would not be good enough. But that isn't the case here. I agree with Brian. I have one find where I was unable to sign the log because it was soaked and swollen into the micro container so tight it would not come out. I logged it a find along with the full story of why I didn't sign it and the owner didn't delete it, so it stands. I agree also. I have a cache at a local city park. A cacher found it and logged it as a find, after telling me that the logbook was completely soaked and they couldnt sign. (3days straight of rain) well I checked and it was indeed completely soaked. Changed logbook didnt delete cachers log
  12. Hi! Figured it out.. Lock on SD card was closed. Forgive me im a rookie
  13. Hi! I asked this in the GSAK forum as well, thought Id try here also.(andanywhere else i can get help) Am using GSAK loving it. I use the Export to Lowrance utility to generate waypoints to my SD card. I used the same card several times to send data to my GPS as I was teaching myself how to do this. I did this several times Now i am getting this error message" Error sending waypoints. Lowrance cannot open USR to write Error was permission denied" Put a different unused card in and it worked; no error message. Unfortunately, its a 2GB card that wont work in my GPS. Does Lowrance put a limit to how much you can use one card? ill have to go get another card to see if it works. Would rather figure this out before spending more. I should be able to overwrite SD cards continously correct? Thanks in advance for your help! Hey! Found my problem! Lock on SD card engaged works fine now!
