I like the GX logo. Who do I thank for that?
All thanks should go to Leatherman for his original design.

Why all the logo bashing?
I think most of you with the reasons why the GX is wrong either didn't submit anything or have "logo envy" becuase yours wasn't chosen.
The GX will only become 'official' if people use it in any variant. Nobody can just declare it even if there was a vote.
Get it! Use it! Promote it!

Or a famous designer decides to make jewelry using the logo (see below).
These people will have no interest in geocaching except the profit potential. How would we feel about THEM using the logo?
Now you are beginning to see why Jeremy has to be so careful, but I think that is the whole point of this project. We need something to use anyway we want. The more the logo gets around the more people learn what it means. If the logo takes off then someone is going to try to merchandise it to make a buck. It's human nature and more power to them, if I like the stuff I might buy some.
"Geocachers do it in the woods!" "hey man, cool shirt! What's a geocacher?"

C'mon people, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Let's just decide on Leatherman's #1 and move on. The only way an alternative logo can ever gain acceptance is if there is only ONE. Derive anything you want from it, use the original 'rough' look (my preference) or use a cleaned up version it doesn't matter they are all the same logo. Just look at all the avatars popping up to see how adaptable it is.
The original is available on a couple sites now as a hi-res 1800x1800 300dpi image and it can also be made in .ai or any other format needed.
Let's get it, use it, and promote it.
My own opinion is that it is better than the original Groundspeak logo in it's simplicity and adaptability and I can't wait to see it showing up on merchandise and in caches.

My vote is for Leatherman's #1 - I don't need a formal one although several would make nice reverses on a coin.

PS: I have a hi-res version of it (Leatherman's design w/o the MiGO stuff) in .ai Illustrator or .psd Photoshop if anyone is interested. Could also convert to any other format if needed.

Who would put caches that close together? I just don't see the fun in that. I guess I'll stick with my boxes hidden in the woods.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
My most is 10 in one day, during PaterQuest.

I totally agree with you. My personal criteria is that I will do any cache in the state of Michigan. I did them because they were there. I think every historic marker in the entire town was a virtual cache, some were interesting but yes I much prefer finding a box.

Our best is 30 in one day once and 20 in a day twice. I think about 8 of the 30 were virtuals so that made it a lot easier. We actually did 6 in 13 minutes at the beginning of the day.

Similar but the letters are entwined.

This is based on Leatherman's design only I added the 'C' to cross the 'X'
The colors are arbitrary, I didn't spend a lot of time choosing them. It can also be left b&w.

It looks like gustaf followed the colors I used in my colored-up version, but those were entirely arbitrary, with no thought whatsoever put into the color choices.
I can't believe nobody had better suggestions.
A standard logo can be created but since it is ultimately intended for the public domain anyone could modify the colors to fit their own taste or needs.

My vote would go to Gustuf's design of all those presented so far.
- It is a professional looking design.
- The graphic lends itself well to either color or monochrome reproduction.
- Several elements of the design could be modified to personalize it while maintaining the overall feel. I could put my avatar image in place of the globe and compass rose and it would still maintain an instant association with the original design.

...but never as a trade item. A couple times I've found a golf or tennis ball on the way to a cache, I've just dropped them in if there was room. I would still do a normal trade of something else.
A couple weeks ago we were headed to a cache near a golf course and ended up picking up about 20 balls! Some of them were pretty good too. That was too many and anyone else hunting it will find tons too so I just carted them back to the car.

PayPal sucks but is the best choice we have right now for that type of service. I have been with them since they began and x.com before them.
Your problem is that you are setting up a verified account. If you had simply transferred money from a credit card without verifying you would be able to access it right away. Once you begin the verify process you just have to wait.
They used to post a few cents to your account and you had to get that amount and enter it in to be verified. If they are still doing it that way and you have online access to your ccard account you can possible speed up the process.

Actually there were a couple replies to your question, you may have missed them.
Gvnagai and her brother Victory Mike leave calling cards in the caches they find. Here's a link to the reply she had

I would like to see more winter friendly caches. As a veteran cacher of one Michigan winter I came to halt once deer season started but got back into it around the first of the year. What I found was a lot of no-finds. The reception is better but not many people were thinking about what it would look like in the snow.
I don't see anything wrong with the string idea, sounds good to me.

Winter = no ticks
Winter = no mosquitoes
Are you nuts?
Winter = so many layers of clothes a bug couldn't find skin if you gave him the coordinates
