Loading cache coordinates to a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx
RonFisk replied to Splashii's topic in GPS technology and devices
Search for it by name, GC22ZDR and it should show up. If it's fairly close it should show up if you search by closest. Waypoints that are some distance away from your GPS location won't show up unless you search by name. Hope this answers your question. -
I'd check for reminders or some type of alarm. Sounds like it's telling you something...
-
Not a problem. The newer entry will replace the older one. It's quite common to have overlapping caches in two or more queries. When all is done you'll only have one of each GC number.
-
Great batteries, I use them all the time. I prefer the LaCrosse BC-900 charger though...
-
On finding the first stage I enter a new waypoint. I then edit the location to reflect the new coordinates and add a name. Next just navigate to that waypoint and there you are. You can't edit the original cache entry.
-
Yes! Be sure and save them as .gpx files and not .loc...
-
Eneloops and LaCrosse here too. I use the Eneloops with my 550t because they hold a charge well and two sets will last me all day. The 2700mAh batteries are great but they don't hold a charge well. Be sure they are fully charged before using and pre-condition them as well.

Which one? Colorado or Oregon...
-
I have 3 intel Macs and run GSAK on all of them using a combination of Bootcamp, Windoze7 and VMWare Fusion. I've never had any problems other than those considered normal for Windows.

I believe Inland Lakes is a locked Map set in which case it's limited to one unit. Sorry, but you'll have to buy your own. Even unlocked maps such as TOPO are limited to one unit by agreement. That means you're on your honor to only install it on one GPSr as well.

You're a Premium member. Just unstuff your PQ's and load them into the GPX folder on your Oregon. You don't need any additional software. As you find caches just mark them as found and upload them to your geocaching page using field notes feature. Check out this link, you'll be glad you did: http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/ You might want to pay particular attention to the following link: http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Geocach...min%20Oregon%3F

Pocket Queries with Mac
RonFisk replied to Sierrawildflower & GeoHiker's topic in GPS technology and devices
It's really quite easy. Just unstuff the PQ and drag it into the GPX folder. That's all there is to it. -
which of the two oregon 400t or 60CSx
RonFisk replied to trappernut's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have both a 60CSx and a 550t. I never use my 60CSx anymore, but carry it as a backup unit. It's more durable than the Oregon, gets 3 times the battery life and probably more waterproof. I depend on the 3 axis compass and paperless ability of the Oregon. If I didn't care about paperless or the 3 axis compass I'd probably prefer the 60. But for now it's the Oregon 550t hands down... -
1.0 is the correct version.

Check and make sure that the GPX folder isn't locked. In the finder, click on the GPX folder, go to the File menu and Get Info (command-I). Make sure that the "Locked" box is not checked. Also make sure your permissions are set to Read & Write. Trash everything in the GPX folder you don't want to keep. (The 3498139.gpx and 3498139-wpts.gpx are pocket queries and the 3498139.zip is the package containing the PQ's) you can trash all of them. Hope that solves your problem.

Same here, only way to fly....
-
I've never had that problem with my 550t. I had the same problem with my old Colorado 400t and Garmin replaced it for me. I use Eneloop batteries and they hold up real well. If you're using lithiums, make sure you are using the correct battery profile. You will find that a telephone call to Garmin's support team is far superior to email.

System Software Missing Colorado 400t
RonFisk replied to Geckoh's topic in GPS technology and devices
I've used M12 twice to rescue my Colorado 400t. It worked great for me. See above link. -
I'm not fond of all the white space and after much unnecessary mouse action leads to my following comment. I'm me. Not you. Therefore I prefer mine and not yours, unless of course I'm interested in yours and not mine and that's highly unlikely...
-
What ??? I believe it's still in beta. It runs fine with VMWare Fusion and Parallels. But WineBottler, couldn't tell you.
-
I agree with most posts about the white space --- Way too much! What has happened to my profile page? After all my hard work it's now ancient history.

You're a premium member so you have access to pocket queries. They will solve your problem. This is a good place to start: http://www.geocaching.com/about/premium.aspx

If this is an original Garmin preloaded City Navigator Micro SD card the maps are not locked. It sounds like you may have gotten hold of an illegal copy. If you got it from a retail store exchange it. If you bought it off eBay or the like, good luck...

Does anyone here use Crossover Mac and GSAK?
RonFisk replied to rovers3's topic in GPS technology and devices
I've never used Crossover Mac, but I run GSAK on all my Macs. I couldn't survive without it. You need to have an Intel Mac with Windows installed though. I run mine using VMWare Fusion but you can use BootCamp or Parallels just as easily. Works great and it's fast... -
It depends om how you loaded them. If they were loaded as individual caches they can be deleted one at a time. If they were loaded as a pocket query the entire query will have to be deleted. Open the GPX folder on your Dakota and delete the individual waypoints or delete the PQ. You have to do it from your computer. It's not possible to delete them from the Dakota.
