  1. a good suggestion... i've been spending more and more time with the software and i think i'm getting a better understanding for it now.. thank you for your help...
  2. Today i found myself on a bridge over the I-95 that was build souly for hiking and equestrian use, it also contains a cache. As i'm searching a car passing under starts honking like mad. A fellow cacher who knew the spot had spotted me making my best attempts at the cache.
  3. I've saved all the waypoints for the caches i want to attack, as instructed on geocaching.com but using mapsource to get them into my Legend Cx seems to be more time consuming than the old plug'n'chug... I can only open one waypoint file at a time and it has to establish a connection with my unit everytime i transfer... It doesn't let me open more than one waypoint file at a time... [mapsource 6.8.0 - usb connection provided with unit - uploading .gpx files saved directly from geocaching.com - current method used = file -> open -> my garmin -> file.gpx -> transfer to unit]
  4. My Legend Cx does all of these same problems. Usually putting me 30+ feet away from where i am supposed to be. Also, i will be instructed to move 20 feet north, then after doing so, i'll be instructed to move 45 feet south... and so on and so fourth, this makes for long days... My Datum is on WGS84, my North Reference is True, my Lock On Road is set to OFF... I too have felt i was just GPS immature, but my fellow cacher has often out performed me with his Explorist 200, which makes me very sad... Are there any more features i may have set in the wrong position? I keep setting up caches and getting responses like "this put me in the middle of a highway, but i found the cache due to the clues, try this for your coordinates.." which is not only embarrasing, but just plain old unsafe...
  5. i've seen this done before, and read posts about it... some cachers enjoy it [like myself] and others get upset and say things like "this teaches bad wilderness habits to new cachers and small children.. yadda yadda"... my thinking is if your in the woods you should be expecting to see snakes anyway... so one shouldn't really take you by surprise. Most cachers have a good sense of adventure and outdoorsieniss anyway so they should enjoy the little trick. A simple disclaimer might lead people in the right direction though, like "bring a poking stick, just in case ::wink wink:: " or "this one is hidden texas style" i say go for it, if they don't have the patience to sit there for 35 seconds and really look at it long enough to realize its not moving and flicking a tounge, well then... who knows...
  6. How about value? has anyone found anything really expensive; or placed something really expensive, and if so... coords please
  7. Is there a noticable difference between the 12-channels offered in the Legend Cx and the 14 Offered in the eXplorist 500?
  8. ICBISTLTMRTEP [i can't believe i spent the last ten minutes reading this entire post]
