  1. 3 blank logs in April Joined on Saturday, logged 2 caches on Sunday "Last visited" on Sunday Logs on my caches are dated on Monday. All 5 logs (my caches & the other 2) are blank. My panties are fine, neither twisted or in a bunch. That's the only 3 on 59 owned caches. I've seen multi-paragraph logs that said as much and not more in the grand scheme of things.
  2. Muddy Waters was a person, not a group. Muddy Waters

  4. Ok, I can't sleep so I'll bite. Great idea, maybe not, but at least some notice. In the case of the "Not FTF", politely informing folks that FTF is gone without "claiming" the first online Found log, maybe. Sounds more like you don't get along with your local group "where most everybody's opinion/ideas etc... are the same" & are looking for someone to agree with you just to poke a stick. Meh, no big deal.
  5. Have you read the "recent discussion on the ( NE IL LOCAL FORUMS )"? It would probably answer your questions better than anyone here can.
  6. 50% useful information is actually probably pretty good for any internet forum. (This post may or may not be in that 50%).
  7. I'm not sure which KY State Park(s) you're referring to here but many of them allow and even welcome physical caches with permission.
  8. WV seems to have a glitch, I sent an email Friday evening and have had a response so I assume that they're workin' on it.
  9. Easy to figure out, and you'll probably be getting page views on your MOC by people from all over, myself included. Unfair? I'd lean slightly towards that, there is a language barrier here, and it's not unreasonable for a European to visit the Moderately large U.S. City with a Major University that your cache is in (or in it's suburbs, I didn't look that closely). I tell you what though, people get that "log deletion notice" via email, they sure don't like it, do they? I Like your selective Use of Capitals and Appreciate your pointing out that it is a MOC, kept me from looking. Honestly though, your New Username is just...Yucky. On Topic, check the Physical Log. Maybe the guy chose your cache to be his "One Special US Find". You'll feel kinda carpy if that is the case & you went the whole other way on that, now won't you?
  10. I'm bound by a non-disclosure agreement regarding the details of Groundspeak's buyout of Google, but I am authorized to offer one sneak preview. i would much rather prefer FroGoogle Sheesh, just plain Geogle.
  11. A week's worth of wool socks & a new pair of Chuck Taylors. I'm good for a year.
  12. Durn reviewers/mods, gotta clean up after them alla time.
  13. If your dog starts digging holes in my yard to bury something, I'm gonna shoot it. I'll start with a BB gun but if he persists...
  14. Translation: I bullied a new cacher into fitting my narrow view and I'm satisfied with myself now.
  15. Thank you for your concern. The last thing this game needs is over-exuberant newbs with a sense of humor.
  16. The two profile areas that come up most often, for me, are making it very easy for people to see that I'm caching out of town (and that we are away from our home), and posting photos of my kids. If I had the ability to keep strangers from viewing my profile, and only opening it to people I trust, it wouldn't be nearly as much of a concern. I could post logs on the fly with the geocaching app and know that it would be unlikely that folks in New York would be able to easily see that I was caching out of state and/or was on an extended vacation. They'd have to be watching the caches I was visiting in Colorado or France or wherever to notice my logs. As opposed to simply clicking on my profile and having our locations and dates laid out easy-peasy. I wouldn't feel I have to wait until I returned home to log everything, like I currently do. Also, photos of my kids. There are times I've thought about posting photos of my kids with a cache they really like to the cache page, but I get a little iffy about people I don't know being able to line up a gallery of a bunch of photos of my family in one easy tab. A random photo from a cache here and there doesn't bother me as much; organizing it all in one place for someone who for some reason really wants to see addisonbr's family photos - that's something I'd rather have a little control over. You may find it patently ridiculous and absurd, and I can understand that for you it feels that way. Some people are very comfortable with a completely open social networking experience. For me, I'd like to have a little more control over who sees my stuff. The same way that I can control my Facebook profile and can lock down my tweets if I want. As far as souvenirs specifically go, I don't have any particular privacy concerns about them. I don't personally think people knowing that I once found a cache in Delaware matters much to me. One way I would flip things around would be to wonder why someone has a specific need to easily view every cache log of mine, every photo, every trackable I own. I can't come up with a compelling reason that Joe Bagodonuts needs to access all of that information about me at one time in one easy place; I don't think it hurts anyone else's game to restrict that sort of organization of my own information to trusted Friends. Other people on Facebook don't seem to be negatively affected by my decision to restrict my Facebook profile to my Friends list, and I suspect that other geocachers would still fully enjoy geocaching without being able to easily access my geocaching data. I don't generally post pictures of my family on the interwebz but these days that's pretty much an "old folks" paranoia. They're likely there if your kids have computers.. Logging on the fly could be considered a luxury, cachingly speaking. If you're worried about thieves knowing that you aren't home there are many more possibilities than here to figure that out. In fact, a thief who depends on this website to target victims probably ain't very smart or successful. I like looking at other people's profiles to see which caches they've found. Whether we have finds in common. Maybe caches I want to look for. I don't give a darn about your specific data, per se, but the absence of general stuff like that would make the game less interesting for me.
  17. Waiting to see which way the wind blows before admitting to doing the "cache container shuffle"? Looks to me like it's blowing toward a big reset on the past few "New World Records". Blast away.
  18. I'm a little confused. Is the cryptex itself in the final cache or just instructions (riddle) for finding it? If the latter, list it as a ? & follow relevant guidelines for any other cache. Sounds like fun.
  19. No offense, but your "functional" gripes seem to be forum related, not site related. There is a difference. Seems like some dude with a big ego around here suggested something similar to souvenirs quite some ago. You've been around long enough that I'm sure you can find it. They're slow sometimes but they do catch on occasionally.
  20. I like 'em. People like pretty pictures, look at how many in this thread are asking how they can submit one. Free artistic talent + customers feeling "connected" + visually pleasing content = win. I'd be hard pressed to believe that this is something just put together in the last month and thrown out there. It will obviously be pretty resource intensive & I reckon they know that, seeing as how they have to know how big the hit from uploaded pics to logs, cache pages, TB pages & etc is. And probably a relative drop in the bucket compared to those pictures, to boot. I'm just glad it's not a "wunderphone app only" feature. If they actually call them souvis I'll pass, though.
  21. Why don't you two just get a room and spare the rest of us? Better? The quoting is much better. The content still sucks. It sure enough did. That was my point. This was an interesting topic for a change, for a while.
