  1. See bolded, big mistake. I can do without the "bone-in' part, though
  2. Are you serious? There may be local laws that limit what the TOUs can say about your behavior on third party sites. Imagine if Groundspeak's TOUs said "You agree not to promote other geocaching sites in any media". That might be seen as unfair trade practices. While I can't talk about all the great caches the squirrel has on this site, at least I can still go on my local geocaching group's board and tell everyone about the great cache I found today that was listed on the other site. And assuming it wasn't cross listed here, I might even be able to post a spoiler picture. Could you blow this up for me? Seriously, the issue is somebody not "playing nice", not what's uploaded where.
  3. And many do. Just sayin'. Yeah. Lazy ones, those who just want "points", those who look for creative ideas...(notice the last group). Somebody who owned more than one cache on the channel discussed didn't like their caches being "spoiled". If GS condoned such spoilers by omission, said person is less likely to go to the trouble of creating more. Bloviating & backseat lawyering aside, it's a case of "I'll do what I want & screw all of you" (and get lots of hits on my youtube channel, thanks).
  4. I usually appreciate your insightful input but there's been too much of the same thing that's tl/dr in this thread. This ain't books or movies nor books, it's community, when it comes down to it. Sven flipped a community member, or more than one, the bird, and did the same to GS when they asked him, politely to desist. Now he is arguing the fine points via "proxy", which was very obviously set up anticipating the consequences of the actions he premeditated. He's being a Richard. Many community members don't appreciate spoilers.
  5. Wow! I guess you haven't really seen everything, then? Oh, that would infer that you don't really know everything, either Do you really even know chad? Did you notice the word, "personally" in my post? Do I need to explain that? "You" kinda indicates "personally", now don't it?

  7. Just what is it, besides getting attention, about this cache that has your tail all uncurled enough to squeal every time there's a log on it? FWIW, someone happened by the spot a couple of weeks ago & actually talked to someone on the construction site. They were informed that construction was expected to be finished soon and not exactly run offsite at gunpoint or anything...
  8. Well, that's going to be news to everyone who works, like me, in the television industry. We all think that TV is a medium. Newspaper is a medium. Radio is a medium. And the Internet is a medium. It doesn't matter whether the internet is to be regarded as a "medium", or whether the TOU just mean photos, audio, video etc. The context is "Use of Publishing Tools and Forums. You and not Groundspeak, are entirely responsible for all content that you upload, post or otherwise transmit via the Site... You agree not to: ...". Now, if you wanted to make it clear that Groundspeak users are also not allowed to upload certain types of content anywhere else, i.e. on Youtube and the like, you certainly wouldn't structure it like this. You'd make sure that your list of banned content was not included within a section with a heading "Use of Publishing Tools and Forums". In my opinion, that's simply not open to interpretation. Everything in that section is to do with Use of Publishing Tools and Forums. How much more clear can it be? I suspect that Groundspeak's legal team were aware not to push it any further than that. Either that or they were incredibly sloppy. Does it really matter what the meaning of "is" is? Sven posted spoilers. COs complained. GS asked Sven to remove specific spoilers and play nice. Sven said "kiss my grits". GS banned Sven. Legal wrangling aside, Sven doesn't seem to want to play well with others unless it's by his rules. We all play in the same sandbox here, it belongs to GS, they write and enforce the "rules" as they see fit. I for one am glad that they try to keep the cats from pooping in it. Too many American references with the "meaning of is", and "kiss my Grits". As I said before, I agree with this decision, as do you. But we are in the minority, brotha. A big time minority. There's not even so much as one detracting comment posted to the YouTube Channel. If I get up the nerve, maybe I'll say a piece over there. But probably not. I figured the Clinton reference was known well enough even over the pond. The meaning certainly should be clear enough, and it isn't a stretch to replace "grits" with a word fitting to anywhere. Cat turds are cat turds.

  10. Cup is replying on behalf of Sven, who cannot join the discussion due to being banned. She is the other half of the caching team. Thanks. I never would have figured that out by myself. To actually be on topic, claiming that something that has "spoiler" in the name isn't about spoilers seems a bit...odd, to put it mildly.
  11. And thankyou, a fantastic point. Imagine one of your caches was included in Sven's blog. Now consider your statement above. Now imagine I'm a cacher, I cannot find your hide, it's a good hide. I really want to find it. I'm determined, so I look for spoilers on the internet...... Now....How do you propose that I go from your cache to Sven's videos? I could search google for the name of the cache....I would come up blank. I could search msn for the gc code of the cache....I would come up blank. I could search yahoo for the location of the cache...I would come up blank. Spoiler? I think not. Why does my post say Ringbone?
  12. You could try contacting the owner of the coin and explaining what happened.
  13. It is possible to set only coordinates for Challenges.
  14. That's exactly what I was asking. Now this makes things even more interesting, since you gave a different answer than the above responder... But to make things even more difficult, what if I want to place a traditional cache nearby one of the stages described? Which of those multi stages could I place a traditional within .1 miles of? He answered a different question, the one you just asked The third example would not require a set distance from another cache from any stage that you do not place something at, also called virtual stages.
  15. Just to make it clear, there are no distance requirements between stages of the same multi in any of your examples, if that was what you were asking.
  16. You don't have to have a smartphone to read a QR Code. Such caches have been done. I own 2 myself.
  17. hmmm, joranda, KnowsChad & AZcachemeister all together in one vehicle? <goes to research hijacking an armed drone>
  18. That would be great! Hope we can get this to whoever it needs to be with. here's a picture of the other paper that was in it. Which led me here. Haven't got dad on the phone yet. I'll try again in a few. Thanks again all for your help Thank you for taking the time and trouble to try to figure out what to do with the cache.
  19. I dropped an email to the likely owner of the cache.
  20. http://coord.info/GCG334 looks like the best bet

  22. Not a soccer mom that was my point
  23. Then you obviously never heard of the Kentucky Soccer Mom's "I did the deed here in high school" series. LOL! That's right, I forgot all about that thread! All I remember is last fall, and a high hide n00b account (over 100 hides I think), and she quickly relented and changed the cache names. There was a thread here, but I believe the actual complaint was made privately with the publishing reviewer. Since that's come up here (and in another active thread, actually). For the record, neither of her kids plays soccer & she lives in WV, although she is from KY. I believe the original complaint was made here and subsequent contact with the reviewer was posted publicly later in that thread. She changed the names when she realized that someone was offended, the series name was intended humorously. Her hide count and find count are both higher now and she is she is an asset in the local caching community. Some of her hides are among the best I've hunted & high D/T ratings don't deter her. "Soccer mom" she ain't. I'll take one enthusiastic n00b like that over 50 forum jockeys any day. And I can assume I'm one of the 50 forum jockey's? You can be if you wanna, I don't usually stick labels on I'm not gonna dig through your profile to try to determine either way. Actually, I took your post as humor of a sort & the person mentioned wanted to clarify the "soccer mom" bit. She has enough sense to stay away from here, unlike you, me & the other jokers posting here
