  1. Cool. It sounds like this may be a good cache idea. Anyone who wants to do the same theme, go right on ahead! The more the merrier. I like the idea about the foam cut-outs to hold the shot glasses. That would really add a touch of class and creativity to the cache. Thanks.
  2. Bubble wrap or something else to protect the glasses is a great idea. Thanks
  3. The area I live in is seriously lacking in any new caches. I want to come up with something creative and slightly different. I was thinking about making a Shot Glass Exchange cache. Start the cache off with a few different shot glasses and then let it go in any direction from there. Just as long as no obscene glasses get into the cache, I dont see why this would be a bad idea. Any opinions? Thanks Team Smoke
  4. I’ve never owned a walking stick, but I would sure be proud to hike with one of those you’ve carved up! They look really nice. Great work! Here’s my entry:
  5. KILLER CACHE What do you all think about this cache? The possibilities for the code wheel are over 1 million choices! Good luck...
  6. When I'm out geocaching, I like to navigate around a bit and use my brain to figure out where the cache is stashed. I don't find the dash and grab 1/1 caches to be very enjoyable. Unless the location of the 1/1 is a quality spot, then I don't mind an easy find. Some caches are so challenging that even after 3 tries I still couldn't locate it! I gave up wasting gas on This One. And then there is the mother of all impossible caches: I call this one MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
  7. Team PerkyPerks, Thank you very much for the help. I would have never figured that out!
  8. This is a bit off topic, but I need some info. How do you delete a posting off of your cache's web page? I have all of the options in the upper right corner of the screen, edit cache, post a note, etc., but there is not an option to delete a post. Do I have to be a premium member to have that option? Thanks.
  9. A couple of weeks ago I used a subway card found in a cache to buy lunch! That trade was appreciated! It's not really a sig item of my own, but I made a couple of JOEFROG's marshmellow guns and left them in some caches. I like to find things that I can use or that are unique. Pocketknives are my favorite!
  10. Do you know that if a mountain lion decides it wants you for lunch then the odds are that you are as good as dead. They quietly stalk their prey and then jump onto the prey's back and bite it on the neck, strangling it or breaking the neck entirely. It's good to be prepared, but also be aware of how predatory animals react to 'food'.
  11. Well, after 3 attempts, I gave up ever finding this one.. I guess I'm not able to think far enough 'out of the box'.
  12. Has anyone had any experience with those electronic skeeter repellers? They are supposed to emit the sound of a male skeeter which repells the females away. Apparently they don't get along very well and it is only the female buggers that bite.
  13. That sounds dubious. What was his 'get out of there quick' experience?
  14. That is quite the amazing pile of doo-dads! Good recovery job. It's too bad the TB's were destroyed though. They can't be replaced.
  15. *UPDATE* Would you believe that a fellow geocacher has found my eTrex and is mailing it back to me!? To those of you who suggested that I post a 'Lost It' note on the cache page, thank you very much for the great idea. The cacher who found my gps was waiting for just that kind of a note to verify who lost it. I was just going to write it off to stupidity and eventually go and buy another one. But you all have saved me the heart ache of it all. Thanks again.
  16. LOL I can think of other, cheaper, ways to introduce folks to the game! Whoever found it, I hope that they are enjoying it as much as I did. That little yellow Garmin eTrex has served me well. Thanks all for the great ideas and comments. I think I will post a 'Lost it' note on the cache page and hope that someone sees it. I don't think there is much chance of getting it back though. The area was full of Fourth of July holiday campers. Oh well...such is life.
  17. I lost my little yellow eTrex over the 4th of July weekend. The last cache the team and I did that day we were being ferociously attacked by squadrons of blood thirsty mosquitoes. Needless to say, we were in a hurry to get into the car. I may have put the GPS onto the roof of the Jeep when I was putting junior into his carseat. This is truly a sad day indeed. So, who wants to donate to the 'NEW' little yellow eTrex foundation fund?
  18. I'm going to find a Jeep TB and I'm going to KEEP it! I'm a huge Jeep fan and this is just waaay too cool to pass up. I'm going to epoxy it to the dash of my Cherokee.
  19. Sure, those rubbermaid containers are just fine for keeping things dry. But lets just suppose a tree falls on one. Then what? I had a huge tree fall on one of my caches and the ammo can was smashed into the soggy ground. Just a minor dent was all that happened. Actually, I was quite surprised that was all the damage that I found. Team Smoke
  20. Check this story out. I just found this thread. Some of you might get a kick out of it, it's pretty funny. Team Smoke
  21. quote: What about using the TRACK BACK feature, even the lowly yellow etrex can do this. Hey...eTrexs are the best GPS units out there! (don't flame me...I'm just a fan) Team Smoke
  22. I hope they hide one in NY! Long Island doesn't really count as NY...it's kind of like the 3rd cousin. 'I wonder how many Long Islanders are gonna flame me for this'. When is Garmin going to do something like this? We all know that Garmin eTrex is the best GPSr. Team Smoke
  23. Sorry about the inappropriate remark made in the first post. The rule against roving caches must have a valid reason somewhere. I do believe that this rule does limit the game and the creativity that could have ensued. Team Smoke
