  1. Thanks to Bear and Ragged / Steben6 / Droo I'm afraid its still not sorted. I know how to upload and have uploaded the geo coin picture onto my profile, but there was nowhere I could see that would allow you just to put it on your profile page without it being a replacement. It offered me two changes, one of my avatar and one of my profile picture. I dont want to change my profile picture, so for now I've changed my avatar to the coin image. Its very difficult to explain what I want to do. Perhaps if you look at the public profile of a fellow cacher of mine who lives nearby - Sir PhilPamAndRob you will see how his fabulous page looks with all his achievement coins displayed together with his events pictures. I guess I will just have to ask him how he did it. Thanks anyway, I know I am probably just being incredibly dim. Sue
  2. Hi all. I have been going crazy tying to find out how you put pictues on your public profile page. I already have my own personal picture , but have noticed a lot of people have pictures of their achievement coins or events they have attended etc etc. I am only new to this great hobby and although nearing 200 finds, I have been trying for ages to put a picture of the 100 find achievement coin, bought for me by my brother. What is the procedure to putting it on your public profile page or can someone direct me to somewhere that would tell me how to do it. Thanks. Sue
  3. My Etrex 20 has been quite frustrating lately, but one thing I do find easy is at the end of the day deleting the caches that I have found one by one. Apologies if someone else has already sorted this. First of all make a note of the cache id number, then I plug the 20 into my computer. I go into 'my computer' and look in the 'devices with removable storage'. I select the garmin by double clicking it and on the next screen double click 'garmin'. This then gives me a long list and I double click on 'GPX'. This then gives me a list of all the caches (by number) stored on my 20. I just find the individual cache numbers that I want and highlight them and delete. Has that been helpful or indeed made any sense? It works for me
  4. Hi Doug. Thanks for the reply. Other suggestions were going nowhere, but when I read your bit above about looking in 'Where To', I went onto that and clicked it and then 'Geocaches' was there!! so problem solved. I still dont know what happened though. I used to just switch my Etrex on and Geocaches would be there on the first page, I swear I never used to have to go through 'Where To' first, so I'm still puzzled but at least I can get into it now, so although you didnt mean to, you have solved my problem. Thanks !
  5. Hi all! Has anyone who owns a garmin Etrex 20 ever had the following problem: I recently switched mine on (I only use it for Geocaching) and the symbol/icon for Geocaching had vanished. I can still get a geocaching symbol by first going through the 'setup' icon but this particular one is only useful for personalising and dosnt take you into the caches. Where has it gone? its driving me mad any hints anyone? I think I may be missing something obvious, but cant get it back. Thanks
  6. I have attached a static travel bug to my vehicle windscreen. I'm in North Wales, G.B. and am now sitting back hoping someone will notice and log it. Its certainly big enough, here's a couple of pics:
  7. I am no horticulturist so hate it when people describe plants or the type of tree where you should look for the cache. We might not be able to recognise plant species and then at different times of the year the plant could well be either dead or leafless and so unrecognisable. Very frustrating
  8. Thanks everyone for your replies. For the info of Gitchee-Gummee here are a couple of pics of my 'discover-me travel bugs'. Front and back. I have put a piece of red paper over the number for security. There are numerous designs on Ebay and I chose the Welsh dragon as I live there and I want to put these in caches outside of Wales. I guess that I need to do a bit more homework, but the replies have given me a lot of info to be going on. I am going to Liverpool this weekend so hope to retrieve at least one something and leave something!
  9. Hi Everyone. I am new to geocaching and would love to take part in either the grabbing of geocoins/travelbugs etc and the re-placing of same in different caches. But despite trying to read the many help topics on this subject, I remain confused. It says on one post NOT to reveal the serial number. What is this and where do you find it? I have bought two geocoins and three discover-me travel bugs. They are registered and appear in my inventory at present. I have reference numbers and tracking numbers for all five. Is the reference number the same as the serial number? Also, the three discover-me travel bugs that I have - do you treat these the same as geocoins? Also when you find either a coin or a bug, will it always have a piece of paper with it saying what the owner wants it to do? Thanks for any help. Sue.
