  1. Chirp is the first-generation design, wait until you see the 3G version called Hissy-fit that, when you approach the hide, makes a container jump up and down and start shouting "Over here! Over here!" By the way, something I wonder about, have any of you GeoDawg owners trained your dog to sniff-out cache containers for you? If not why not? Seems like a useful thing to do if coupled with snake-avoidance training. To state an obvious point the command would be "Find" not "Fetch." Oh wow ... I'm waiting for the 3G version. Hopefully, it will come with apps, too! Thanks Harmon, ol' buddy!
  2. Good Job Little Bro! Conga Rats to FATTBOY on 3K!
  3. Hello, sleeplessinsandiego! There are a number of really great caches in the area ... and wonderful cachers all around the county, too! Welcome to the community; we're looking forward to meeting you as well!! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  4. Well, I'll be ... look at that fine artistry! I think it's almost perfect, Harmon, ol' buddy. Seems to me, though, there's somethin' real important missin'! Yeah, I'm sure of it now! Where's Pa and that fine brother of hers at? Just wonderin', Barrie
  5. Well, I gotta tell ya, Harmon, ol' pal ... you sure do know how to get yerself in a BIG heap o' trouble. Now I gotta do some thinkin' myself ... hmmm, maybe I outta call my new mulchin' girlfriend, Jodi, and see if she can help me think up somethin' real good. Yeah, two heads are better than one ... that's what I've heard, anyway. She was SO helpful with the mulchin' ... I betcha she'd be willing to help me out again, 'specially now that you done went n' tried ta blame lil' ol' sweet n' innocent me. Hmmm, where did I put her number? (<~ see that look of real innocence there?) Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  6. Congratulations yoyo ken!!! Love the pic and the log, but not the bit about the spiders crawling on you...yuck!!! CONGA RATS to yoyo ken on 500 caches! GOT SPIDERS? Yikes! boysnbarrie
  7. It wasn't a food fight, ol' buddy! No, it was good friends eating some cinnamon rolls, mulchin', and cachin' ... loads of fun, actually. Yeah, about 8 loads to be more precise. Anyway, have you seen the pics on that cache page yet, ol' buddy? There were a couple of folks snappin' quite a few pictures, I tell ya. Mhmm, you might be interested in checkin' 'em out. Mulchin' in Chula Vista #7 Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  8. Are they splitting them down the middle? 7500 each? Congrats! Chuy! used to like us.... Conga Rats to jahoadi and john on 15K! You two are incredible!
  9. Aw MAN! I hate when I'm late to the party ... CONGA RATS to the KWVERS! on 18,291 finds!!!!! Wahoo! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  10. ACT One, Scene 1 (boysnbarrie enters Stage Right, wearing a brown 'San Diego GeoChicks' t-shirt) HARMON, ol' buddy ... SNAP OUT OF IT! (she quickly pulls a PUD cake & a canister of whipped cream out of her geo-mobile) ... I'm sorry, forum thread followers, but I really need to go. Could some of you please help me with this hypnosis saga? ... I need to post something on FaceBook real quick, and go on my dinner date ! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  11. Well, okay Harmon ... I reckon I outta share one of my favorite moments with ya. I was with my dear son, halftrack guy, at the time and we'd just found Mission 9: Tunnel of Light ... the Ape Cache. When the two of us got there, it was quiet - no one else was around. It was foggy and misty, but we were glad to have this moment of discovery by ourselves. Suddenly, coming from the fog ... I spotted a large man with a very hairy chest! He gave the best hugs, too! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  12. Well, I might have missed out on the "Geo-Chicks" fun ... but I did sport my wonderful shirt for the group picture (aren't I s'posed to pay someone for that shirt?). This isn't the best picture of me; I'm sorry Harmon, ol' buddy. I guess once I got to having fun ... I plum forgot ta take more pictures so you could PhotoShop me into embarrassment. All I had for picture takin' was my iPhone. Hmmm, what a shame, too; I'm not sure what I was thinkin'. I waited around for the "chicks," traded my PathTag with plenty of nice folk, and had a real fine lunch. After about three hours, I figured I'd better get a move-on; yep, I even tried to call those gals. The only SDGCs I recall seein' were LLOT, habu!, zeber and Mike n' Minnie. Ya know ... I'd betcha anything those chicks were out geocaching! Glad to be home, Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  13. Way to go condor man and kawikaturn on 9,000 Congrats to condor man and kawikaturn! Huge numbers! You guys are awesome! CONGA RATS TO ... condor man and kawikaturn on 9K! Wowza!
  14. Some are sicker than others... All I can say is that there must be a 12-step program for Shopaholics... Th' Devil made me do it! Harmon Ol Harmon when are you ever going to learn not to tee off the ladies. Huh? They all fled to Facebook so I figured a Facebook theme would really please them and might even bring one or two of them back to a Geocaching Forum thread now and then. Ain't this what Farmville is all about? One look at that chick in th' pink hat tells y' all y' need to know about life down on the farm. Wow! I had no idea I looked so nice in green. I think I'm going to change my caching outfit today and wear more green now! Thank you ol' buddy! I LOVE it! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  15. Very nice!!! Yippie...congratulations~Fun, Fun, Fun ! How come she's so lucky, nobody ever bought me a Jeep. Nice wheels, lulu! I'm so jealous! Looks like Harmon and I are in the minority! Nice ride!!! Can't wait to get out on the trails with you! Conga Rats, Lulu! I can hardly wait to go geocaching with you again! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  16. Whoa! That IronMom gal RAN all the way up to Max's? Impressive! Yes, it's true ... I was there this morning. Between writing my first novel, driving the yellow limo, taking care of my house, and other duties I'll dare not mention here ... somehow I managed to get my cha cha dress out of the dry cleaners just in time for the newest Yrium release. What a fine set of cards it is, too! I'm just not exactly sure how you can be certain (beyond a reasonable doubt!) it was ME in the red high heels ... but that's ok. My stealth Yrium Card Hunt attire is still very much a mystery, as of this moment, and I'm considering that a successful mission. It's possible some other geocacher has a fruity cha cha hat/dress thing goin' on, doncha think ? Innocent until proven guilty, Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  17. YIKES!! I didn't scroll over far enough to see the LLOT card!! OK, the 3 and Ace of Hearts are CLEARLY the TWO best cards in the deck!!! (Hope I haven't missed anyone else....) As I said earlier ... we are ALL missing someone's card. My understanding is that no one will know WHO stole the tarts until GeoWoodstock 8, on July 3rd. I really like LLOT's card. I smiled when I saw it. Is there a story coming soon ? boysnbarrie
  18. Soooo...Barrie... What's your story...??? neat playing cards idea Come on you two, I set you both up with a lead into a good story and so far nothing out of you. Spill it! Oh my! I guess I haven't been paying attention to the forums enough ! Okay, okay ... I'll give you a story: Have a Heart ... or THREE! by boysnbarrie Chapter One It all began on a cool, moonlit night as boysnbarrie arrived at the home of the kwvers! She noticed Mister kwvers! sitting at the computer looking at swan pictures. Mrs. kwvers! offered boysnbarrie a Stevia Root Beer with no sugar added, and she gladly accepted. "Are you bidding on a poker card," mister kwvers! asked? Amused, boysnbarrie responded, "Oh, I didn't really understand all of that ... so I haven't given it any more thought. Besides, I'm broke!" "The bidding ends in just a few hours, so this is your last chance to get in on it," he told her. Mister kwvers! began explaining the whole bidding process for the GeoWoodstock 8 Poker Cards, and boysnbarrie began to consider the possibilities of placing a bid. "I think I'd like to bid on the Three of Hearts, which will represent my two boys and me! Okay, I'll give it a try! What card are YOU bidding on?" "The Two of Hearts," he said with a smile. boysnbarrie placed a conservative bid on the Three of Hearts, then lounged on the kwvers! VERY comfy sofa, and soon began to nod off (as she often does around 8 o'clock). How's that for a beginning, Harmon ol' buddy? Is that okay so far? Barrie aka: boysnbarrie, Three of Hearts Barrie, I've been counting on you and now you are doing a great job. I've already learned a lot; for example, that Kwvers is kinky about swans, that Jim and Denise serve Stevia root beer to guests, and that you drop by their place on occasion for a soda and a nap. Exactly what one wants from a first-chapter, immediate absorption into the story. Right there, the swans deal, that explains a lot about the fact that those two pals of yours are front-runners in our local Geo- caching community. Nice work on the opening by the way, so pleased that you resisted "It was a dark and stormy night ...," sort of. Your title is tops, "Three of Hearts" Puts me in mind of the old Charley Chan detective films of the 1940s. Now that you've placed the scene so well in Chapter 1 I'm anxious to see how you handle character-development in Chapter 2. I'm guessing that chapter 2 will introduce some minor characters and will expand the central theme of the narrative. I'm all eyes Barrie, can't wait to read the next installment. Your pal, Harmon SD Rowdies Pressure......I can't wait either, Barrie! Have a Heart ... or THREE! by boysnbarrie Chapter Two Around 8:30 pm, boysnbarrie awakened and quickly flipped over the drool soaked pillow she'd been resting her head upon at the kwvers! "Uh ... I need to get home." She got up, noticed mister kwvers! was still gazing at uh ... swan pictures , gathered her things, said her farewells, headed to her car, and safely drove herself home as only a professional driver would. The next morning, she woke up and found the following email: From: Joey Subject: Re: Your Geowoodstock Poker Card Bid Date: April 17, 2010 1:04:53 AM PDT To: Barrie Congratulations!!! You are the winner for: 3 of Hearts boysnbarrie was stunned. She could not believe her eyes. Then suddenly, an instant message appeared on her screen from halftrack guy. It said, "Hi Mom! What's new?" She began telling him all about the poker card and how she'd won the Three of Hearts on what could only be explained as a fluke. Now she needed to figure out how to get the graphic design done, adding her moniker, and sent to Joey on time. "Mom? I think you need to contact Harmon, and see if he can help you. I have a feeling he'd love to do it," said halftrack guy in an instant message from Columbia, South America ... all the way from another hemisphere. " I hate to bother him, but you're probably right ... he could help me if he has the time. I'll think it over." About 2 days later, boysnbarrie wrote an e-mail to her dear ol' buddy, Harmon, and told him about her winning bid. His response was quick! "Barrie, my pleasure to resize your avatar. Do you want it resized as a standard Geocaching avatar. If not then what size do you need. Also, do you want it to keep the green background and the stem? If some other background then what sort? Finally I can reconstruct the missing part of the lower-left berry if you want. See how it is to work with a graphic designer? Your pal, Harmon The next thing she knew, she was looking over fonts, and various versions of the design. It all went much smoother and faster than she imagined it would ... all because of a wonderful friend coming to her aid. boysnbarrie was SO thankful she'd listened to halftrack guy, who couldn't have thought of a better choice in Harmon. How could she ever thank Harmon enough ... perhaps a PUD cake? Or a free deck of the GW8 cards? E-mails zipped back n' forth between Harmon and boysnbarrie. Soon she had a beautiful finished graphic design to send. Once all the final proofs were approved by the various parties, the designs went to the printer and the decks of cards began production. boysnbarrie could hardly wait to see them! She is SO excited ... surely, nothing more could top this, right? What could possibly be more exciting than the GW8 Playing Cards? Just wait and see! It's well past my bedtime, so the ending will have to wait for another day. Sweet dreams! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie So much for Harmon having violent sex with your PUD cake, Barrie!! Maybe that will be in Chapter 3... But what a GREAT story!! And yours is CLEARLY the best card in the deck!! So the final chapters of this multi-hemispheric story will be written only after GeoWoodstock VIII. For my part in this adventure, thanks for asking Barrie and do thank that fine son of yours for thinking of me. *** Related Issues *** A. " ...violent sex with your PUD cake ..." Good gravy, why didn't I think of that as a boy? Sure could have improved my chances with Olga Angus back when I was ten years old. B. "... yours is CLEARLY the best card in the deck!!" Defend yourself James. Note to Self: One day I must reveal my shocking back-story about PUD cake. *NEWS UPDATE: from the yellow limo!* Thank you for your kind words, Tom, regarding my playing card, and the progress of my story. In all fairness tho, I don't think we can declare which card is "CLEARLY the best" yet ... because (in case you didn't notice) one of the cards has yet to have it's owner revealed! Could it be one of San Diego's own? Hmmm. Barrie aka: boysnbarrie

  21. Here ya go ol' buddy! I found a graphic image for yer t-shirt! Yep, I researched this: Situs inversus (also called situs transversus or oppositus). Whoa ... yer oppositus ! I'll hafta be more careful not to let you back into me from now on! Just coz I care, Barrie aka: boysnbarrie Thank y' very much Barrie dear ... Don't I look swell in my new Phenotypically Unimpaired tee? The odd thing is that whenever I wear it I always start looking for final resting places as you can see from the above photo. So far my favorite spot is just up the hill from the tiny village of St. Roman de Malegarde in Provence, France. Unfortunately the spot I chose is already occupied. When they buried the ol' lady that's in my chosen spot they must have had a bad set of coordinates. Not sure what to do about that unless report the problem to that Commie Pinko Reviewer guy. Fact is that he owes me for some of the suffering he's put me through. I suppose I should mention here a recent medical finding that all of the unfortunate victims of Situs Inversus crave PUD cake as the one and only relief for an inverted gut. Your pal, Poor ol' Harmon SD Rowdies No worries, Harmon, ol' buddy! I've got just the thing for you. Ahhh, you want PUD cake, eh? Well, it just so happens that I am going to be bringing you one. Yeah, for the upcoming M.A.S.H. Event. I'm glad to help bring relief to your inverted gut. Ohhh, by the way - now that I've been reducing my sugar intake ... I'm considering entering a whole wheat PUD cake into the contest. Ya know, a healthier version ... with more fiber and maybe iron, too. If I use PRUNES instead of pineapple ... that'll still count as a PUD cake right? It DOES start with a "P." I sure do wanna do all I can to help yer gut, ol' buddy. Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
  22. Here's to a speedy recovery! Glad he's doing well! Hope we all get to see you at the event, Eric! Feel better! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie Thanks all for the well wishes! Its no kidney transplant, but my first surgery ever and I hope to be able to cache again shortly. ThePolarBear and his cub came to the hospital to visit me and I was very grateful of that. Thanks again! Did he say what I thought he said???? Seriously, Good to hear you're doing great and in good spirits! Thanks Randy! While laying in my hospital bed being prepped for surgery I was really really nervous, but I kept thinking about your ordeal (and facebook postings from you bed), and it really did give me strength. I know I am comparing a Cessna to a 747, but it really did help calm the nerves. My gosh, here's a chance to mention the fact that I'm not arranged internally in the usual way. Found out years ago when being imaged for a possible ulcer. Condition was called something like situs inversus. The part about my unusual condition that I most enjoy is that in medical terms I'm said to be phenotypically unimpaired. Shoot, somethin' had t' go my way. The doctor that examined my abdominal images kept flipping them back and forth on the light-screen. Turns out that my appendix is at upper-left of the abdominal cavity and down-facing and so drains and thus avoids appendicitis. At seventy-five years of age I just couldn't pass up this one and only chance to bond with a couple of gut-guys. So nice to see that you two are doing so well. Maybe we should have some T-shirts done ... "I'm phenotypically unimpaired," that's hard to resist as a Tee-line. Here ya go ol' buddy! I found a graphic image for yer t-shirt! Yep, I researched this: Situs inversus (also called situs transversus or oppositus). Whoa ... yer oppositus ! I'll hafta be more careful not to let you back into me from now on! Just coz I care, Barrie aka: boysnbarrie
